Yes but how to prevent the excesses we already see with BSL? Who will define a vicious dog? Hmmmm.. careful, careful...

Great article and submitted my say. These people who commit atrocious acts upon animals should get the same punishment as though it were committed to another person. EXTENSIVE JAIL TIME AND A FINE!, thanks Simone

yes the term aggressive will have to be well defined. we can all agree that any dog that draws blood during an attack is vicious. but self defense and being protective do not count in this. the main issue is , does the person have control over the dog. accidents can happen to anyone, but once is one thing, twice is another.

I am the dog trainer interviewed for the article. My views were on people who were irresponsible, made no attempt to control or train their dogs or mange them if they did have problems with other dogs or people. I know there are many people out there with problem dogs but manage them well and pose no danger but others who allow or encourage aggression and dangerous behaviors should have a 'ban' period imposed, just like animal cruelty laws already allow. This was also directed at owners whos dogs are declared dangerous, not just menacing, and pose a serious risk through their owners mismanagement NOT the sheer fact they may just have a problem. I have further clarification on my myspace blog my address is InlineK9
