The true, clear cut answer, in my book, is no. A vegan, defined by numerous websites, health books and people is considered a person who does not eat ANY thing that has any type of animal or animal by-product in it; vegans do not believe in eating

I didn't think that was an "age old" question. Honey is made by bees, for bees. Period. I never eat honey-it's not mine to eat. Honey is not vegan.

I suppose bee vomit (that's really what it is after all. But jars in the grocery store labeled "Bee vomit" probably just wouldn't sell very well) is technically not vegan. But vegan.org makes a good point that if you are going to use the argument that insects sometimes die in the production of honey, you can extend that argument to say that insects die in the production of vegetables too (after all, it's impossible to avoid killing some insects when harvesting the vegetables). If you start saying we can't even anything that causes the death of another living thing, even if it is an insect, well, there's pretty much nothing on this earth we can eat.

I have mixed feelings on honey. If anything, the bees probably just think we are very strange creatures, running in like that, collecting their vomit, and eating it.

does honey grow on trees? Or in the soil ? NO ... so it isn't vegan.. it belongs to bees
