It's enough to enrage animal lovers. A little male brown tiger-striped kitten apparently had a strong will to live. The ten-week-old kitten named "River" is singed from head to toe. Doctors say he is fighting infection, and badly burned.

It is about as sickening as the reason behind the petition on the No. Ten Downing Street site pleading for a change in the law in the UK regarding dangerous animals after a persons cat was eaten by a thirteen feet long python in a neighbours garden. Apparently the owner of the python has done nothing wrong as in English law only venomous snakes are considered dangerous. The fact that such an animal could easily crush a man to death is apparently OK. What hope for a poor cat, The owners of the cat heard the cat being killed and eaten but could not actually see it or do anything about and it was only proven when the python was scanned and the cats details came from the snakes insides and of course they have no body to decently bury and greive over as it is still being digested by the snake! Absolutely sickening! I do hope the burnt cat does better than that and the idiots that did this are brought to justice.

The human race is beyond help right about now. What ever happened to love ,kindness,and compassion.I hope God punishes those responsible for this. Thank-you Simone

This just seems never ending lately. Violence and hatred is getting worse. Horrible self hate is what is causing a lot of this I think. It has to stop!
Thanks Simone

Every time I read of the horrific things we humans do to defenceless animals I feel a mixture of rage and shame, we must demand new laws to protect the innocent!!

Another horrific tale of human cruelty ... I'm so furious right now I can't even think of anything else to say. THIS SCUM MUST BE CAUGHT! Let's all hope the poor kitty pulls through ;;

Too pulling for words and there no 'humans' left on the planet! What is "Love & Compassion?"

I now currently have 7 cats-the last 2 are what my late brother left behind from for the family this July 2009. I can ill afford these animals but am taking them on, as the shelters are so over whelmed here most are put down. Both the cats, female and unfixed, are about 16 months old andseverely underweight and flea infested, but are now getting the food attention and care they need, but I think about all the other ones out there that are abused and neglected and it makes me want to cry. My brother had a lot of problems and unfortunately his animals paid the price, he never hurt them, he just never fed them enough, beer and drugs were more important, but he claimed to anyone who would listen how much he loved his cats. This is one of the reasons I have not been on the site for a while, taking on more critters. Also my email server has bounced back my emails from care2 for unknown reasons.

It seems everyday we see more animal abuse. I just read about the rabbits from the Ohio Petland store, seems like a lot of this abuse is from Ohio, something in the water? We need to see that those who abuse and kill animals are punished as severely as the law allows. Otherwise they will continue to do so and go on to bigger prey. It has already been proven that most serial killers started out on animals. My prayers go out to River and i hope they find the idiot who threw the chair into the fire with him in it and hold them financially accountable for all medical expenses, too bad he should have to pay pain and suffering money also, but I don;t think the court system would extend that benefit to an animal.
