Children who want to be vegetarians need to "fill in the blanks" of their low-protein diets by eating alternatives to red meat, fish and poultry, experts say. Good examples are soybeans, fortified soy milk and nuts. Those are important sources of the

Thank you Simone. I wish everybody would become educated and consider a vegetarian diet. I confess that I struggle with the guilt of eating cheese becuase of the horrors of dairy. I do at least stick with the hard cheeses and try to limit them. I wish the alternatives were not so expensive.

Lisa Koehli, instead of "struggling with the guilt" of eating factory farme dchhese, spend the extra few dollars and extra bit of time ti takes to seek out local farms in your area that treat animals humanely.

Also, Soybeans are NOT a good food choice for anyone. Fermented soy in small amounts, as traditionally consumed in the East, where Soy originates, but not in the highly-processed forms we see here in the West--there are extensive studies showing un-fermented soy products can have a negative effect on your health. Not to mention that most experts also acknowledge that GMO has contaminated basically ALL of the worlds soy, and is nearly impossible to avoid consuming.

There are many alternatives to factory-farmed food, and going vegeterain and vegan is only one possible way to achieve this. Talk with your local farmers to fidn out more about how ALL of your food is produced.
