Two Dogs; One Starved and the Other DEAD
Sunday, September 20th, 2009 By Andrea
Last week, in Beaumont, Texas, police officers were called to a home on a report of a dead dog. This is what they found:

A dead dog with a collar tied to a chain. It wasn’t rocket science to see it suffered from starvation. According to their investigation, the owners had moved several weeks ago and left the dog behind. The cause of death was later confirmed by a necropsy report.

The owner of the dead dog said she had moved from the home in June but returned to feed and water the dog every day.

Oh yeah, if you believe that I can sell you the Brooklyn Bridge. Do not insult our intelligence Ms. Owner of the “dead dog that you fed everyday”. You are so full of crap. You left the dog to starve. That is not a picture of a hungry dog; it is the picture of a dead dog – dead by your negligence. If you couldn’t take the dog with you there were alternatives; a shelter, a rescue, the neighbors…family…friends…another rescue…another shelter… Anything, but this.

What really hurts is that she could get a Felony Animal Cruelty charge but the police plan to file a misdemeanor only. A misdemeanor charge isn’t punishment enough. It’s carte blanche to commit more cruelty.

The police also found a malnourished Golden Retriever. The Golden Retriever was lying near the dead dog and they believe she was a stray and befriended the other dog. How sad is that? These poor starving dogs had nothing else than each other for comfort. We don’t even know if they befriended each other while the one was still alive.

The Golden is being evaluated at the shelter and should be available for adoption. According to the shelter workers, she’s a sweet dog and full of love. They really want to see her adopted. I hope someone takes her and showers her with love, toys, a comfy bed, and nice big fat juicy steaks.

I write this in total despair. There seems to be no justice for the dogs that are left to die lonely and starving. These are living creatures! People like this woman who left this dog to starve pollute the earth…with their indifference, their stupidity, and their stink.

This is horrible and sad. She deserves much more than a misdemeanor charger. Negligence is cruelty.
Thanks Simone

Already way to upset...sorry can't get to this site...

We need to protect these special animals, they ARE NOT A PERSON'S PROPERTY, THEY NEED BETTER LAWS PROTECTING THEM.

Personally, I am going to be sick!

OMG! This has brought tears that are not stopping. This one is too close to my heart, it is breaking. This precious baby looks like my beautiful rescue Bo! Seeing the mix breed looks to be just like Bo and I would swear this baby was probably as smart, sweet, and loving of everything around him! To imagine the life he had lived and the torture of starving to death makes me crazy! I just can't comprehend why? No living being deserves this. I pray she has no children. I'm sorry but the murdering b*@tch deserves a felony for murder and I will not go into the rest of what I believe she deserves other than "An eye for an eye". I do not have the slightest bit of pity for anyone that chooses to harm the innocent. The evil it must take is call enough for me to believe they should be put away from the rest of society. Whether it be to rot in a jail cell or whatever. I just can't understand why the justice system in this country or any other, will not punish the scum that harm animals in any way. How is it that if a law is in place for a felony charge, but yet a misdemeanor will be given? On the word of this scum bag that she fed him when obviously she didn't?!! I watch Animal Cops constantly and 48 hours trying to understand, but all I can figure out is some people are just plain evil and they do not belong on this planet! Again sorry for the rambling, thinking of this baby and the kitty in the oven, the pup cut up in pieces, the pit left tied up next to the dumpster, the factory slaughterhouses and all the too many to mention atrocities going on. Got to stop and wipe the tears and definately get a grip!

We must take charge of our own criminal justice system. We must change the laws to increase penalties and then demand maximum sentences for people (using the term loosely) like this woman who make choices that are deliberately cruel, neglectful, and fatal. If I hear the words, 'just a dog' or 'just a cat' one more time . . . . .
People who can abuse and neglect animals can abuse and neglect other mammals like people. We cannot afford to tolerate cruelty ever. We cannot count on law enforcement unless we make it clear as communities and neighborhoods, as a society and a nation that we will not accept this and we demand enforcement of the laws. Then we have to work on prosecutors and judges. Why do we wait? Will it be OK when it's a dead child lying there too? Only we can cause this change and we must do so. Consistent sentencing of significant prison time coupled with large fines will be a deterrent for most, and a vast improvement over what we have.

It stops when society views animals as sentient beings and not property.

I do not get it. If it was your pet, how could you leave it? Please, take it to the shelter, at least. My god, people are so stupid. A dog would never do you that way. They would give love unconditionally... hello???

This lady should be chained in her yard and left to starve and that would be justice. For the life of me, I don't understand how this is not a felony.

This is a sick indictment of today's society and their contempt for God's creatures. This "Ms. Owner" will burn in the fires of hell for all eternity for this and I hope she's reading this blog as I would love to give her a taste of hell right now! God bless this little one and may he now be at peace. I hope the Golden Retriever finds a new, loving, home soon.
