Hiding in the bushes along a river, Lakhpat Singh Rawat heard mountain deer bark. He peered through the scope of his hunting rifle and wondered whether the leopard that recently carried away a 2-year-old village boy was approaching.

You have to be kidding me?! I thought that leopards were supposed to be protected?

Noted with sadness, confusion, and a bit of anger.

Again, call me mean but I think the leoparda has the right to live where he so chooses. He was he first man has only taken over and never returns anything!! I would eat a child to if I had nothing else and all the humans were killing my prey!!

So sad for the poor beautiful leopards. Humans have destroyed their habitat and caused their prey to disappear.

It sounds as though the people of this villiage need far greater protection. Perhaps one good starting point would be to move the side of their village that's on the fringes of the forest to another much safer point. When the oven's hot, you don't stick your head in it, do you?

The Indian authorities are not supporting the villagers in the best way, and hiring a huntsman is probably costing a small fortune, which could far more profitably be spent on the villagers to partically re-locate, and also take them out of the path of danger.
