Someday we're going to have to explain to our children and our grandchildren why we didn't protect and preserve so many species when we still could get it done. We're going to have to explain our selfishness and shortsightedness and greed and lack of concern for the future. We're going to have to look in their eyes and try to respond in a meaningful way. And we're going to have to listen to their response and we really might not like it. I don't want to be any part of that conversation - I want to talk about all the hard work we did and sacrifices we made for them and for the future and I want to tell them that we saved the polar bears, the arctic foxes, the walruses, the ribbon seals, and all the rest of the species FOR THEM! And I want to be able to tell them that we saved the ancient and important SEA TURTLES too!
