Peter Keonig, 46, is serving five-years for armed robberies in Whirl, Germany. He went to court this week demanding the right for his cat Gisela to be allowed to visit him in jail "because she is my dead mum".

Anyone not knowing the power that an animal can have in cheering someone up is a sad individual.

I have to say that anyone who commits an armed robbery fails to rouse any pity in me for having a request denied. However, I do not see why the cat can't visit, how do you prove such a belief? I might as well ask the judge to prove that God exists as to whether or not the cat is this persons mother. Both are beliefs and neither can offer incontroversial physical evidence. As to being allowed to write to the cat..........!

Well once a criminal is incarcerated, certain rights have been relinquished, that's what prisons are, a penal system of certain rights, freedoms and privileges taken away.

But, when there is a factor that can actually aid in the comfort and rehabilitation of a prisoner, with no due harm to anyone, that prison and judicial system is inept and in neglect of its duties in reforming a prisoner for the day when he rejoins society.

Whether he truly believes the kitty is his reincarnated mother or not, this denied decision is outright stupidity...
