Born Free has been delighted to support the dedicated work of Animals Asia for many years. Together we have helped rescue and care for bears from cruel bile farms in China, and helped create a new bear sanctuary in Vietnam. Below is a new report from

Hi All - Happy Monday. I have signed up to join a Sponsored charity Walk for Freedom to help Asia's Moon Bears which is hosted by Animals Asia - this Saturday September 11th 2010 here in London UK. Yes! I have just 5 days to go!

The campaign is called Simple Steps that Help Paws and Claws.

Please Sponsor me to achieve more successes like these

I am sure that most of us know the horrific trade of Bear Bile farming in Asia - and I am seeking sponsorship for my walk to raise funds to help rescue Bears and End Dog & Cat consumption.

Thus I have Created a petition which is published -

There are a couple videos to watch one runs for 3 mins and the other approx 8 mins showing the rescue work by Animals Asia.

Please invite your friends, family and relative to join my support in my mission to rescue Moon Bears from a Hellish existence.

Please also see for other members comments

Hello Everybody,

Please do feel free to look at my photos taken on the day by my very good Care2 friend and sponsor Viviene Green who came along to cheer me on. Please click on this link or alternatively go to photos> Gallery: Dianne H and it is tagged under SUCCESS! Animals Asia 5 Miles Campaign To save Bears, Dogs & Cats

Here below is an official thank you letter from Gill Maltby Animals Asia UK Director

Dear Friends and Supporters,

On behalf of the bears and all at Animals Asia I would like to offer my thanks and appreciation to you for lending your support for our campaign to bring the barbaric practice of bear farming and the bile trade to an end.

Animals Asia has signed agreements with both the Chinese and Vietnamese governments to rescue 700 bears from the torture of bile farms, and bring them to our sanctuaries to live out their lives in peace and safety.

Through working with these governments we have rescued 345 bears to date and secured 43 Chinese provinces as ‘Free from bear farms’.

With your help we are able to continue to make progress, free more bears and ensure more provinces become free from bear farms. Our campaign also involves reducing the demand of bile consumed in Asia through promoting effective and cruelty-free alternatives.

Letter writing and petitions do work and they have certainly had a big impact in focussing attention on bear bile farming especially in Vietnam.

So thank you once again for lending your support and together we will make a difference.

Best wishes
