This is a very complicated problem and not nearly as easily solved as you might think.

When elephants are protected, they multiply to the point that they begin to spill over into villages and farms. I've seen huge areas of forests in Botswana which were devastated by elephants.

So--some countries really do have to "cull" them. Then, there's ivory. Should it be sold to help poor countries? Should it be buried? What should be done?
