A Chinese zoo has been criticised for allowing visitors to pet - and even pretend to ride - a tiger. Tourists at Wenzhou Zoo, Zhejiang province, can pose for pictures while they pretend to ride the tiger.

How asinine!
When the tiger gets fed up and hurts someone they will probably kill it for being violent.
"Teeth and claws have been filed down"-disgusting and cruel!
Will people EVER learn?!

i dont see the problem with letting people pet the tiger as long as the zookeepers are right there an special precautions are being taken. but i dont think riding it is right.

Well all I can say to this is: WHAT THE HELL! It's like these people don't know ANYTHING about safety! Filing claws and teeth down does NOTHING! The tiger can still throw someone off and crush their entire body! It would take a lot more than "filing their teeth and claws down"! And if you did do a lot more, no one could even ride the tiger anymore! God! It would take a highly advanced virtual world to solve this s$*t! "That's why I support virtual worlds."

And one more thing: filing ANY teeth down is very risky! That can lead to tooth decay and increase the limit on what you can ingest. Trust me, I know people that have filled-down teeth, and they've got all kinds of medical issues; and believe me, the cost incurred is ridiculous! I hope the zoo owners know that!

Tigers and other wildlife were not put us on this Earth to entertain people.

the same thing is done at Dreamworld on Australia's Gold Coast.
for a much higher than normal fee, people can pet & cuddle the tigers (in company of the animal's trainers, of course)

The stupidity of people - and all for money. It's sad to see so majestic and animal treated this way. I think the tiger looks as though it has been doped.

I totally agree with Laura, Craig and Charles!! These beautiful animals were not put on this earth for our enjoyment, but for their role in our precious environment!

Total agreement with others. Animals are not to be used for human entertainment. May God punish the humans that do this to animals.

the human race is unstoppably sinking to depths of ignorance that are hard to comprehend - I would once have said in hope "where will it end?" but I now fear that despite all our caring words and feelings we are actually achieving nothing - everything bad is increasing exponentially and very little positive change is achieved

This is just sick & stupid. The poor tiger will end up getting killed when it snaps and hurts a someone for "riding" it.

Amber you say you don't see anything wrong in letting pple petting the tiger!!! You have got to be kiddin me!!!!
Wild animals DO NOT belong in the zoo for a start, that in itself is abuse, but to subject the poor animals to specticals of 'AMUSEMENT' is an ABOMINATION!!!!!
For God's sake wake up!!!

Incredulous! How are we suppose to teach and encourage respect for animals when behaviors like this are encouraged and promoted???!!!!

The tiger could absolutely do some serious if not fatal damage when provoked because that would be it's nature. This is a wild animal forced to live in captivity. It's bad enough this beautiful creatue of the wild is trapped probably caged most of it's life is now forced to be used a a circus ride. This is animal abuse at it's worse. Some entity makeing money utilizing one of the kings of the beast as a side show. God help them when and if this tiger should decide it's had enough and returns to it's primitive self using claws and fangs to deliver the message. And then only it would most likely be destroyed. Where is the justice? We should all practice banning attendance at these ridiculous events. Put them out of business. Animals Have Rights!!!
