The poor foal in the photo at a BLM, holding pen was euthanized by BLM.

PLEASE COPY AND PASTE THE FOLLOWING LETTER TO BE EMAILED TO THE COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT AND GOVERNMENT REFORM. THE WILD PREGNANT MARES & YOUNG FOALS NEED YOU TO SPEAK FOR THEM. WE NEED AT LEAST 10,000 EMAILS SENT IMMEDIATELY.

Dear _______________________

As an outraged citizen I am writing you to IMMEDIATELY INVESTIGATE the BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT for VIOLATING THEIR OWN GUIDELINES, by planning a Wild Horse Roundups on July 1 in two states when many mares are still pregnant and there are small foals who will be the victims of this action.

The BLM handbook states that round-ups should not be conducted during foaling season. In July there are still mares that are heavily pregnant and babies that are only weeks old. Even babies that are one or two months old cannot withstand the miles and miles of running over treacherous terrain. July is NOT the End of Foaling Season.

These round-ups will undoubtedly result in many foals suffering and dying and pregnant mares aborting their babies. Babies have died from sloughing off their hooves before. (during the Calico Roundup)

It is easy to predict, young babies simply cannot withstand the miles and miles of rough terrain, their small under-developed feet cannot withstand the pounding, they cannot go without their mothers milk especially after this exertion, and the stress and anxiety of separation from their mothers is extremely inhumane to both mothers and babies. In the past pregnant mares and mares with new foals at their sides were not even brought to the pens but turned back, free, and saved from the capture. This is no longer the case. BLM takes all and returns few.

One would not run one’s own pregnant mare or mare and baby for miles and miles and expect them to be ok. As a matter of fact one would be arrested for cruelty to animals.

I do not agree with any BLM Round-ups as there is no independent count of Wild Horses and the contractors are inhumane and have no knowledge of natural horsemanship. However, Round-ups during foaling season take one more inhumane step further and are even more callous and willfully cruel and heartless to the small foals. many are left behind and some are even hogtied on the ground and left to die just to get their mothers caught. This is incredible inhumane activity carried out by BLM contractors.

Thousands of horse advocates are outraged, Horse organizations are outraged, my pony club is outraged, my neighborhood is outraged, and the media is outraged.

The BLM contractors must conduct the Round-ups only during late fall when the majority of foals have already been born, although they can also be born in the fall. Roundups should never be carried out in extreme heat or extreme cold. Please investigate BLM to be sure that round-ups only take place during the months of October and November, after the summer heat is over, when many babies are at least a couple months and more old and before the bitter winter cold. According to BLM Guidelines they should NOT be conducting Roundups during Foaling Season.

Most urgently I ask you please INVESTIGATE the BUREAU of LAND MANAGEMENT for VIOLATING FEDERAL PROTOCOL.

Sincerely,

What is up with the BLM? Why are they getting away with all of this crap? Is there no mechanism for the American people to get rid of this useless behemoth government agency that appears to ignore the will of the people whose interests I thought it was supposed to be representing? Sick stuff..

Dear friends ,
it's dirty , Ugly and the work of Politicians ,
it's all about $$$ and where ever there is $$$ involved there is corruption ,
the bigger the $$$ the greater and bigger the Corruption is ,
Department of Interior (D.O.I) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) selling out the American public and the TAX payer Public lands the WATER in those public lands to the Bank of China , BP and other Oil and Gas Companies , selling it to the Big Rancher and Cattle owners , Cattle rancher , they are all against the Wild Horses , the wild horses and burros don't profit them so they must get rid of them ,
The big OIL companies are telling the American Government to remove and destroy the wild horses and the Bureau of Land Management is the man for the JOB , to destroy the wild horses for the oil companies and the head of D.O.I is Ken Salazar which he was and is a Cattle Rancher but now in the Obama Administration he is the Secretary of Interior (D.O.I) .

Thank you for posting. I sent in two letters to Ken Salazar and the BLM about doing Round-ups during foaling season, but I cannot email contact CA Rep because I am not in her district. This is the problem with Congresspersons. They often will not allow email contact, must fax, write or call. I willl write. Senators are more accessible by email

Noted with sadness. I wish they would do away with the horrible BLM...the only thing they manage is things that will benefit the cattle ranchers which in turn will benefit them. The poor animals (other than cows) don't stand a chance. Poor little foals and also the poor baby bison (4 hours old) that they run to death!
