Each year, the FBI fails to count hundreds of thousands of rapes in its Uniform Crime Report (UCR)--even missing many of the tens of thousands of rapes that are reported to police. That's because for over 80 years, the FBI has been using the same

The omissions in the FBI's definition of rape are staggering. Thank you for bringing this petition to my awareness.

When someone sexually violates another person's body, that is rape. Using the FBI's 80 year old guideline gives even more power to rapists, and power is what rape is all about.

Rape is a crime, it is placing the power of one over the other. It is wrong and should never be thought of as anything but a crime.

What are statistics good for if you don't use the right figures and definitions?

rape is about power and intrusion, and there's more intrusion possible than what the FBI thinks.

Thanks for posting Simone

Signed with this comment

Rape is the forcible act of sex without permission regardless of the type of sex or the sexes involved. If the person is unable to give permission due to drugs, alcohol, physical disibilities or diminished capacity then it is still rape. Please ensure that ALL victims are treated with respect and consideration and ALL rapes are investigated.

It sickens me that so many rapists walk free because the woman was "dressed provocatively", or she was passed out drunk so she was "asking for it". This is a man's world, and always will be :( Women will always be inferior. It's sad, but true. Ladies, let's start takin em out!! I really hope that women will one day feel comfortable enough to report being raped. I hope one day justice will actually be served.

Signed. We need to make the environment safer for those that want to come forward. These statistics mean nothing when most stay quiet about the rape to avoid reliving it and avoid the stigma and subsequent abuse from their communities. I know about 15 rape survivors and about 2/3 never reported it.

Thanks Simone Signed. how CAN anything so FLAWED, still be in existence!! ?? It is outrageously ignorant and lacking in every way. I don't wish to be demeaning to all our wonderfully in tune Care 2 guys, but honestly... ONLY A MAN could ever make a thing like this with so many rridiculous loop holes in it!! It makes me so hopping mad!! the FBI needs to get into this century.. FAST!

Rape is being used as a weapon and US is now as bad and degrading as the Sudan. When are humans going to learn and love one another. This one world is simply not working but it will be forced down our throats. It is in history that this will happen. Signed petition
