Animals seem to know far better than humans how to embrace differences when it comes to making friends. The folks below will hopefully teach us some lessons in embracing differences.

All of the stories in the captions, with the possible exception of two, detail animals that have been put into questionable situations for the entertainment of people in countries that have terrible track records of animal abuse. India, southeat asia, the middle east, Slovenia, Russia all have a disturbing lack of animal welfare laws in place. These pictures, for the most part, depict animals in unnatural situations brought upon them by humans who don't have the best interests of animals as their primary concern.

Simone should be ashamed of herself for promoting this as a warm, fuzzy animal story. Perhaps you should read the captions and not just look at the pictures next time.

Nice when the carnivores are well fed and can afford to play nice with the herbivores... but a Daruma monkey is a pity.

Thanks, Simone.Yes, peaceful and loving cohabitation can exist between species. Now if only 'man' would/could do the same, not only with his own, but with those whose stewardhip we're entrusted with.

My dogs Jada and Lokje (a Husky/Shepherd mix and a Malamute) "helped" as my neighbor's cat give birth in my lap. Two of the kittens were breach and I had to help in the delivery. When the dogs burst into the room I wasn't able to get them out, so they were right there as the kittens were born. To this day the kitten we kept tries to suckle on Jada, and she treats him as if she's his mother. He's a year old as of June 2nd.

THESE PHOTOS ARE VERY SWEET. Why can't human beings embrace one another's differences? It is certainly a loss to those who do not embrace the differences between themselves and others.

Wonderful!

But what is even more amazing is puzzling out where this behaviour comes from. We keep pets. These animals, and many others, form relationships outside their species, relationships that are not necessarily symbiotic or parasitic.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it. I merely ask the question, WHY?

I love how animals love.

But why is the little cat on a chain? The monkey wearing a ridiculous outfit regardless what name is printed on the hat...
