The very idea that we can trust any industry or agro-industry to police itself is laughable. They have too much too lose. Would anyone seriously suggest abolishing the police and courts and allowing the general population to police itself? I do not think so.

signed. Wouldn't be surprised if it is discovered that chemicals cause the increase of autism. By letting "convienent "GMO foods into the food chain, who knows what will happen? This isnt a matter of alarmism or stopping progress, it is about stopping the PROCESS of poisoning our children. You can bet your savings the powers that be don't buy this crap, they know and can afford better. We are the lab rats and GMO is the cheese. It may take a few years before us rats start dropping dead, or having mutations occur and by then the stuff will be creeping onto our plates like mold on days old wet bread.

Deregulation of gentically altered plants, animals, and food, what is the USDA doing?
This could be a potential Pandora's Box where we could reach a point of no return. It is a bad idea, letting any industry that can effect the very sustenance of life to have that much power. If there is no labeling required on genetically engineered foods, these foods could well find their way into markets. This is like letting the proverbial fox in charge of the hen house! Our health and environment are just too important not to require an independent party to review the safety and potential dangers of such products before unleashing them in our world.

One of the reasons to genetically alter plants is so that agribusiness can sell seeds to third world countries that won't reproduce a second crop. Then the poorest of countries must purchase the seeds over and over again. If that isn't a crime against humanity, I don't know what is. I am not wealthy by any means, but I refuse to buy the imitation food in most grocery stores and shop strictly organic even though it means we don't have cable or a new car or new clothes. Our health is more important than that. I will continue to protest and sign petitions against GMOs until something is done. But these mega corporations can afford mega lobbying on Capitol Hill. John Boehner is one of the biggest recipients of the lobbyists' money and golf gifts, and why he is still in politics is beyond my comprehension. He's a criminal, but a smart one.

It appears, that many of our liberal friends, have not quite understood President Obama's diplomacy.
Lawrence O'Donnell on THE LAST WORD, is the only newscaster that sees the trees for the forest. Having been in Congress, himself, he completely comprehends the inner workings of the two houses. He has analyzed our President's methods, from the beginning.

After President Obama is re-elected in 2012. everyone will grasp his technique for reaching his goals. Only after this time, can our President, carry out vigorously, what we all wish to see happen.
Unfortunately, a great deal of this problem is still about RACE, especially with many of the southern and western states.
