A North Texas couple asked animal control for help with a bobcat in their neighborhood. They said they wanted the animal relocated after managing to trap it in a cage Wednesday morning.

Hope that pig of a cop has his house cat go full battle mode on him! What a moron, after a property owner tried to use a nonlethal solution to a 'nuisance' animal. Placing the bobcat in the wilds a couple of hundred miles off wouldn't have cost much; now the investigation will likely cost far more than just getting some wildlife lover to uncage it in the wild...

Noted, another example of police BrutalIty...Except this time on an Animal, who was in a cage...He definitely should no longer have a job, where he carries a gun, and has the power to decide life and death over any living creature, Human or Animal...Too bad he can't be put in a cage, and be shown the same mercy he showed the Bob Cat...What a piece of trash, this Cop is...I hope they throw the book at him, but somehow, I don't see them doing anything to him...I just wonder what his exuse was for shooting a poor animal who was already in a cage, and of no harm to anyone...Wonder if he used the same lame excuse most Cops use when they murder an unarmed person, It's usually He moved his hand towards his waist, and we thought he had a gun, so we shot him, and they get away with it every time, no matter the circumstance...These Cops, should be made to pay for their crimes...I guess he thought the Bob Cat was packing heat, and he felt scared for his life...What a F**king scum bag this Cop is...

Signed and noted with anger. I have caught a moved many an animal to a safe environment away from humans. It isn't rocket science. A little food in a live trap-stand behind cage and open-they run for the hills every time except for a snapping turtle-he just strolled out. LOL

i blame those people more than the cop. if you call the authorities about any animal, odds are that they're going to kill it. when i see a bobcat or mountain lion in my backyard, i don't even tell my neighbors.

S&N - that caged bobcat was sure a threat to him. Should have called wildlife control to relocate if he didn't want to be bothered. Wonder if he uses the same judgment when it comes to people?

Noted and signed. Do the police have a procedure they are supposed to follow when it involves an animal?? This is not the first time I have signed a petition about a policeman shooting an animal. That is not the answer,there has to be a wildlife center or rescue for dogs and cats that the police can call to handle the situation. This was so sad, the bobcat was in a cage and no more was in danger.

What a coward. You know, it was here in Texas that an "officer of the law" tasered a baby squirrel at a middle school. You could hear all the kids begging him not to do it. Some even cried when he did it. It was a BABY!! Cops have no training with animals, especially wild ones. This was a job for animal control, not a cop! The stupid people who called should be thrown in the woods with no protection. Wildlife should be left alone!! There are bobcats by my house, but I'm not going to trap or kill it just to protect my cat. Unfortunately, it doesn't surprise me that the cop did it. Hell, there's a new gated community that wanted ALL deer removed because they were an eyesore!! Yep, you read that right. The county was going to trap them in nets and send them to slaughter!!!!! Good thing there were petitions like crazy and it never happened. Seriously though, if you don't want to live around wildlife, move to the big city. Jerks...
