Unknown to most of the American public, it's happening relentlessly, week after week: From locations around the country, former pet riding horses and other equines are being loaded onto trailers and hauled to slaughterhouses in Canada and Mexico.

Some of this I knew but I had no idea they are slaughtering healthy, young horses! Thanks for the info and I facebooked and tweeted. Hope it helps.

I am absolutely horrified at this. How morally reprehensible. How deeply, deeply sad. This is a huge and unforgivable betrayal of these horses. I am distraught.
