Senior Dog Surrendered - the Pain of Being Left Behind

- Penny's eyes are sad. Her ears are askew. Her entire persona reflects her confusion. Penny's owner handed her over to the shelter without remorse. No tears, no long good-byes - no time to even offer the elderly dog a reassuring pat on the head.

This is so sad, Penny looks so cute! I love Senior Dogs and I cannot understand how people can be so heartless.
Its a shame. I hope from the bottom of my heart that Penny finds a new forever home in the last years of her life

I know I can't read this, I was just at the shelter. Beautiful dogs, some age 10 14 years old. One beautiful siberian husky, age 14, laying on the concrete and howling and howling. heartbreak. And I have met these people who have thrown away their older dogs or neglected them emotionally. I just can't wait till they get old - hope it's rotten.

This kinda of stuff has to stop!!! I bet that person goes and gets a "PUPPY" There should be a data base Nationwide that if they give up an animal they can get one right away! this might help with all the ABUSE of ALL ANIMALS AND DOG FIGHTING!!! So Sad!!!! Happening More and more it is sick! There are groups out there to help people sp they can keep the families together! ASAP SERVICES INC. USA Cindy Gaffeny MARENGO IL!!!! CALL THEM..ask for HELP.. there must be some other reason like the Husbands animal and passed away??? There Just has to be a reason to JUST DUMP ANY ANIAML! I hate to see senior animals abandoned, but this dog may have belonged to an older relative of the woman who surrendered him who just died, and the woman couldn't keep a dog.

I just had to make the decision to put down our senior dog after 15 1/2 years. How could anyone leave their senior dog to be cared for by anyone else. I am devastated by this news. I would have given anything for a few more: minutes, hours, days, months, years with my senior dog.

Mari Miyatake UPDATE: I will be posting less on this site. I am working through someone else's posting of Penny to get everything finalized, and am finding it impossible to post updated information in both places. HERE IS MY FINAL UPDATE UNTIL FINAL RESULTS: I am taking a potential adopter to Penny tomorrow. IF FOR SOME REASON the adoption doesn't work out, my dear friend and rescuer of old dogs, Kunzang Drolma (who has adopted another one of my seniors) has agreed to take Penny with a full pledge behind her for Penny's lifetime needs. I have transport arranged for this contingency on Friday Nov. 25th, and I think we are all good. Either way it goes, I will post on this site the final resolution. Sorry I cannot post more often, but I am now knee-deep in making the arrangements and still need to tend to my full time job, so I don't have time for double-cross-posting updates. I apologize, and hope everyone will understand that PENNY IS SAFE, and I will NOT be letting her die at East Valley.

Thank you Mari Miyatake!!!
