Not much use, Apple would never discourage people from having to buy a new product every year for more $$$. Yeah, they could easily switch to just selling firmware updates. But half the point of their brand strategy is everyone knows you have the 'latest iPhone' as a fashion accessory. Meanwhile the product is basically just renting time in a portable Apple store.

Apple is not the only manufacturer of computer hardware and other pieces of equipment.

There are many other companies making equipment - Dell, H-P, and many, many others.

So, don't blame Apple for being the only company for toxic equipments.

Do blame the consumers and people who do not dispose of various equipments responsibly.

No company would discourage you or anyone from buying their merchandise.

Let us not forget about electronics in stereos, 7.1 channels systems, giant screen TV's and so on.

Ty, Simone.

Forgot to mention. I had a Desktop Apple G4 computer for 12 years before it passed away. It
ran continuously, 24-7. I bought a used G4 recently and it works just fine for my purposes. I mated
it with my "old" 23" screen made by Apple. Both are doing fine.

I dispose of my "broken and not working" equipment to the recyclers. Other people in town do as well.
I once saw a 46" TV being tossed and it was still working! Yes, there are people who want the latest in
equipment wheather it is in computers, portable cell phones, iPods, iPads, giant screen TV's, stereo
equipment and so on. They should give their "old" equipment or sell them to friends.

Not everyone wants the newest and latest gizmo. If it ain't broken, why toss it.

I still have a turntable to play my small collection of vinyl LP's. Records are soo much warmer in
sound than those from on a CD or any digital format.

Whoops, got carried away... lol...
