As an American, I have to say, this is something that needs to be left to the Australian people. Those of us in other countries have no business telling them what to do.

Unlike the migrating whales and other animals that effect us, these animals are theirs. When we start raising them and they become wild on our lands, then we can take a stand on what needs to be done with them.

I don't see anyone screaming about our bison. Once endangered, we as a people took a stand and now they are plentiful. Some are being raised like cattle and processed for food in many fine restaurants and some groceries.

We may not like it, but by damn, those of us outside the borders of Australia have no business telling them what to do.

Patrick

Patrick as much as I appreciate your concerns about stepping on others toes we need international support on issues. For example - mulesing in sheep is only being addressed because of international outrage.

Same with problems in many countries. It can be difficult to change from within but intrenational pressure can help eg closure of a notorious abbatoir in Jordan was achieved recently though a campaign based in Australia.

as an Australian I welconme - indeed encourage informed protest.

no don't shoot them, can't they relocate them? I thought Australia was a large country. There is know place to put them? I wrote a letter that they sampled. I know one thing, even though I am from the United States most of us are animal activists. So, know matter where you live, if there is something that needs to be signed because an animal is not treated right, you can count on the animal people to help help that animal know matter where.

It would not allow me in to vote, but the article was so one sided, who is this Gary? Not much of an unbiased reporter. Is funny how they accuse the protestors of upsetting the roos, don't people think the animal can smell slaughter? Have you ever heard slaughter house cries??
What we visit on animals will come back on us.
ty, Simone!
