pigs are not meant for eating. they have extra glands behind their legs and at the bottom of their feet to drain excess amount of puss from their bodies. they are pumped full of anti-biotic in order to be consumed. yummy? i think not. pigs are here to clean the earth basically garbage eaters. none the less they play an essential role to our enviroment. it was a self proclaimed god nimrod who introduced the eating of them to our society 1000's of years ago. a mighty hunter of men and wild pig. i personally get educated and follow no man's self righteous wisdom. to each their own though. this is not to offend but to open the mind. i don't hear anyone fighting to eat vulture, same thing really :) thanks simone.

The pig is a mass of worms. Each mouthful you eat is not a nutritious food but a mass of small worms the naked eye cannot detect. Worms thrive in the hog. When these worms are digested into your system, they cause a high birth rate to hundreds of new worms called larvae which travels the blood stream of your system and lodge in your muscles. These worms even enter your brain, lungs or your spinal fluid. They cause muscular aches, fever and many other symptoms of sickness. The worm has an amazing ability to go undetected in your system for many years. The scientific name for the ill-causing worm found in all pork is Trichinella spiralis which causes trichinosis. Despite what veterinarians, public health officials, the Agricultural Department or your doctor say, the best defense against the pig is DO NOT EAT IT!

NOTED AND SIGNED.. I DON'T CARE WHETHER "PIG IS A MASS OF WORMS AND THAT EACH MOUTHFUL YOU EAT IS NOT NUTRITIOUS FOOD". I DO NOT EAT ANY ANIMAL WHATSOEVER! I LOVE ALL ANIMALS AND AM VEGETARIAN, ALMOST VEGAN. THAT MEANS I DON'T EAT FISH EITHER! MEAT EQUALS MURDER AND CRUELTY!

I MEAN, SOME PEOPLE ARE VEGETARIAN AND STILL EAT FISH. I KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING IN MOST OF THE DAIRYFARMS AND THE DISGUSTING, INHUMANE CIRCUMSTANCES CHICKENS ETC ARE "LIVING" IN. I DON'T WEAR LEATHER ETC ETC! I EVEN TAKE VEGETARIAN VITAMINS. I'M GLAD MY MUM AND KIDBROTHER ARE VEGETARIANS TOO. LIVE AND LET LIVE, BE KIND TO ANIMALS, THAT'S WHAT MY MUM HAS TAUGHT ME. THANKS SIMONE FOR ADDING THE STORY.

i am attacked almost daily by my mother in law because my husband chooses my ways and doesn't eat meat anymore. forgive me, i am an angry gal and spout out in deffence. i'll warm up i swear. i just never feel safe to just be anymore. every day we have to hear whether it be phone or im what kind of meat she is cooking for the day. it's like torture and i believe it has warped my mind. my sister in law has nothing to with us because of our eating lifestyle. well good riddens no real big loss there. they act like cannibals and i blame it on eating meat. in my neck of the woods we appear to be aliens. again, please don't take me as being mean. i am bullied by them so i try to scare them back. i choose picking my food not killing it.

Mae, I commend you for what you do and speaking the truth.Same goes for the rest of you who stand up for what you believe in. Don't let people get to you, they are the blind ones. I have recently become vegetarian along with my 20 year old daughter and 93 year old mother!
Our family members have critisized us and called us brainwashed but they are the ones who are brainwashed! By the USDA, the meat and dairy industry and the fda. They don't have a clue and ofcourse they don't want to know so they can justify their habits. I have no tolerance or patience for that narrowminded thinking and stupidity. I will always advocate and continue to support these priceless creatures, not to mention our health.

I have been a vegetarian since 1970, when I had to back away from the table
on realizing -- with the force of an oncoming freight train -- that I was ripping
a Cornish Game Hen LIMB-FROM-LIMB with my bare hands...

Always the better for it...

The suffering of the "'namos" who only live to be slaughtered
for our pleasure is beyond my comprehension!

If I were king., ALL THIS CRUELTY WOULD IMMEDIATELY END...

I stopped eating pork several years ago because I too believe they are basically garbage disposals, they eat anything and I do mean anything. My husband and I both stopped eating it and we have felt much healthier ever since. Now if only I could convince my dear husband to switch to a completely meatless way of life, I would be happy.

Silly question, I suppose.... but is the common practice of raising pigs for slaughter worldwide...USA, specifically???

Pa O. (1)

What I mean is "this a common practice" I would like to hear more and am seriously considering taking the pledge!

It is worldwide practice Pa, we have a huge amount of cruel factory farms here in Australia. In Australia, the majority of the 300,000 female breeding pigs (sows) are kept inside sheds continually pregnant and confined.

i'd say you are what you eat bb, but that would be offending the pig. this is the cannabilistic behavior i was reffering too. fantastic example. your nugatory comment is also a fine example of a parasitic brain. thanks for being apart of our study.

Pig production is very clean and safe. They no longer eat garbage
However many are factory farmed. The pluses of this is pork can be eaten by the poor. Otherwise it would be a semi-luxury.
Pork is a staple protein of a g godly part of the planet including The Pacific Region and China. In New Guinea amn's status is measured in the number of pigs he owns

Anti-biotics are given to alot of animals to help them put on weight quickly for no other reason. This is something we will regret one day.
Personally Pork crackling is one of my favourite things and i love baked pork.

I don't think over-emotive "Babe" campaigns will stop Australians or the English eating bacon.
Perhaps you should look to factory farming reform, the carcinogenic compounds in hams and bacon, overuse of anti-biotics etc
You might also like to google "Wim Delvoye pigs as tattoo art"

Mae The black cat you use as your picture would eat a pig!
Let see if I have this right,
Save the sharks, they are carnivores
Save the polar bears, they are carnivores
Save the big cats, they are carnivores
Save the wolves, they are carnivores and would love pigs!
Save the great apes, most of them are vegetarians because the great apes that eat meat turned into humans, THIS IS NOT A ONE WAY STREET!
So, if enough of you turn into vegetarians, then humans who eat meat could get on the endangered species list and you would have to protect our environment and our way of living!
OH YA! and pigs are omnivores and given the chance they would eat YOU!
