No animal from a shelter should be taken from it for research. They are not there for that. I pray Gus is saved in time. He is sooooooo cute and deserves a forever home with a family.

It is so cruel that this animals has been neglected and now to be punished even more does not make sense. What has this dog sinned to be taken for research. Have a heart.

Someone please rescue Gus and give him a loving home. He is so beautiful and he mustn't be destroyed or worse given for research. That would be the worst thing to happen to any anmimal. Pease help us to save Gus by forwarding and getting friends to forward too. There must be someone out there that can help.

I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE GUS, UNFORTUNATELY FOR ONE MY HUSBAND WON'T LET ME HAVE ANOTHER, AND ANOTER, OUR COUNTY ONLY LETS PEOPLE HAVE 3 ANIMALS AT A TIME. WHICH I THINK IS OUT RAGOUS. IF YOU ARE ABEL TO TAKE CARE OF THEM PROPERLY AND GIVE THEM A GOOD HOME YOU SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO HAVE MORE THEN 3. THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH BIG HEARTS THAT ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GIVE THERE LOVE TO THESE HOMELESS ANIMALS BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT HAS PUT A LIMIT ON THE AMOUNT OF ANIMALS ONE CAN HAVE.

Noted and news forwarded. How I hope this poor angel will not have to suffer the horrible research fate, or death! But you know what...? If I had to really choose, God forbid, I think the research option would be MUCH, MUCH worse than death! That a poor animal that“s already suffered, mistreated, unloved, abandoned, then taken to a shelter, suddenly had to endure torture on the hands of lab researchers, would be cruelty of unmeasurable proportions! I think mental and emotional torture is the worst kind of torture, and to always live in fear has to be THE worst kind of life anyone can have :-(

I pray that this angel finds a loving forever home! I“m in Spain, so can“t do much more than forward this news in the hope that someone will be able to help him...

What gets me is they wait until the last minute and then they start calling for despert help. Why can they not get it out there before this? I pray this dog goes to neither place that someone will adopt him. I will cross post. Thanks Simone

He is such a lovely lad I would love to take him but cannot, I pray that he dont fall in the hands of researchers he will suffer so much, the kindest thing they could do if it came to the worsed is to put him down, But i truly hope that some kind person will take him and give him a loving home.

There's something I don't get here... OK, this poor guy is in an animal SHELTER at the moment... WHY o WHY are the people at the "shelter" allowing him to be researched on because they can't find a home for him???!!! Especially after Gus being with them for such a long time... what kind of people work at a shelter, whose 'function' is to help animals, who after getting used to seeing, feeding, and caring(?) for a living, feeling, previously-mistreated being, all of a sudden, and with no previous notice that we're aware of, and even if there were previous notice, suddenly decide that they'll hand in this innocent being who's already suffered enough, to a bunch of bastards who want to experiment on him???????????? Does anyone have the answer to this, cause if there's something I've missed, I'd like to know the explanation for this kind of sick behaviour!!! WHAT is WRONG with us humans!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!! What kind of animal "shelter" is this!!!!!!

Noted and thanks Simone. The visit site link takes me to Alex Brown racing website.

I pray that Gus finds a forever home. The people at the shelter are betraying Gus, and any other animal they allow to go to a research facility, shame on them!

Oh Marysue I hope so. I overwhelms me that there are so many out there in dire need. No one I have known adheres to the 3 only rule. As long as your neighbors aren't a bother who is to know?

Anita, thank you!!! I have tears of joy in my eyes! I“m all choked up!!

Thanks to the kind soul who gave him a home... I“m so relieved! If only all shelter dogs and cats were adopted by kind people...

I still wonder about the research thing that I commented about on my last comment here though... I cannot understand it to save my life.

Thanks for the heads up on Gus. Michigan has a law allowing "pound seizure" and I think I am correct in saying that when a research facility comes to their pound and selects dogs for research, by law they have to release them to those vivisectors!!!!!!! People living in Michigan need to get this law changed.

Thanks Charly for the information!

Well then, someone from Michigan MUST start a strong petition go get this law abolished, and they must do it NOW!!! This is urgent, I find this law totally repulsive, and I“m sure everyone here does too... It“s totally unfair to say the least, and extremely immoral!!!

Please friends, if you know someone from Michigan it would be a brilliant action to ask them to start the petition. I“d personally forward it to everyone I know!

Thanks!

i hope gus gets the home he deserves and i hope this opens all our eyes that this is happening everywhere. so if you do have the space, time, and love please go to your nearest shelter and adopt. if you can't adopt donate. most accept dog/cat food, cleaning supplies for kennels, toys, blankets, and always cash. good luck gus!!!

The Montcalm County Animal Shelter Control is run by nine county commissioners. Six of the commissioners; Pat Carr, Marcia Walker, John McCrackin, John Johansen, Carl Paepke, and Ron Baker, voted 'yes' to give animals at the shelter to a Class-b animal dealer, R&R Research, owned by Jim Woudenberg. If that isn't bad enough the animals that don't go to research are either gassed in a barrel or given to Woudenberg to take back to his business to 'euthanize' with no oversight by the county. The commissioners hired a new animal control director after allegations of abuse were filed against the previous director. The new director, Patricia Lentz, was fired from Isabella County Animal Control. Patti started her position as director in late May and her staff is NOT performing humane euthanasia, by lethal injection into a vein, instead of gassing animals in a 55 gallon drum or giving them to the class b dealer, who performs a 'heart-stick' to kill the animals. Montcalm County should be embarrassed and ashamed! Write the commissioners at chyzer@co.montcalm.mi.us

Thanks Glen! Will certainly write!

I“ve just posted some news that, although when you first look it doesn“t seem to be related, if you read on it is, and there“s some action to take, the link for which I“ve posted in my 3rd comment (read the bit I“ve hightlighted in CAPS within that comment - that“s the bit that“s related to this).

You can find the news here:
http://www.care2.com/news/member/682882170/944292

We must all do something about this. I never knew about it, and there I was thinking I knew so much about animal cruelty, but this sick, cruel, immoral practice has come as a shock to me (the fact that animals are taken from shelters for medical research!!). It really breaks my heart and my soul that after being abused, neglected, mistreated, and afterwards landed at a place where they think they“re relatively safe compared to how the were before, all of a sudden someone takes them to an uncaring, eerie and sinister, terrorising place of mental, emotional and physical torture!!! NO!!!!
