Thank you De L for this forward. Montcalm County Shelter again. Please take action at - http://www.cccmontcalm.org/

UPDATE NEW INFO >

Add this shelter "MECOSTA ANIMAL SHELTER"to the list of shelters that sell to research actually this shelter is known as the "MAFIA SHELTER"....From wut I have learned this shelter does not put there animals on the internet( I HAVE BEEN MONITORING THERE WEBSITE FOR A WK AND NO ANIMALS LISTED)...They are not rescue friendly at all....They are only opened three hrs a day I was told!!!!This shelter is extremely bad news and they got the nickname "Mafia Shelter"becuz they are in it for the profit !!!THE ANIMALS THAT ENTER THIS SHELTER VERY RARELY MAKE IT OUT SAFELY!!!!!!Another shelter with a dirty secret now exposed........

RESEARCH LABS ARE PAYING THESE DEALERS ANYWHERE FROM $200.00 TO $400.
00 PER ANIMAL

There are three active Class B Dealers in Michigan that are getting dogs"LEGALLY" out of shelters and selling them to research labs.Below link has the names of them and the shelters that are still very actively allowing this is to happen..Plz if you recieve a plea for any animal in any of the shelters below that are doing this plz start cross-posting for them before they end up in the wrong hands..The person on the inside who gave me the heads up will also be giving me any more shelters that are possibly doing this....
Cathy

NAME OF THE THREE DEALERS ARE
****Hodgins Kennels, Inc
****** R & R Research, Inc
******Cheri-Hill Kennel & Supply.
****Michigan's Class B Dealers******

Michigan has 3 USDA Class B Dealers, licensed to sell pound dogs and cats to research institutions. Hodgins Kennels, Inc., R & R Research, Inc. and Cheri-Hill Kennel & Supply. USDA Class B Dealers are licensed by the United States Government to sell "random source" dogs and cats to labs. "Random Source" dogs and cats are your pets, dogs and cats not bred for use in research, but instead obtained from pounds and individuals.

Hodgins Kennels, Inc., in Howell, Michigan is one of the largest Class B Dealer operations in the country. It's owned and operated by Fred Hodgins and his wife Janice. His daughter Tammy Longhi runs the kennel. Hodgins Kennels, Inc was charged with violations of the Animal Welfare Act alleging that the conditions of his kennels were substandard and the care the dogs and cats received did not meet the minimum standards set by the government. Hodgins was found guilty and fined heavily. The case was overturned on appeal. Hodgins Kennels takes animals from Jackson County Animal Control.

R & R Research, Inc, of Howard City Michigan is run by James Woudenberg and his mother Roberta. R & R has engaged in less than ethical practices including listing itself as an animal shelter in the yellow pages. The State of Michigan Attorney General's Office ordered the ads removed. Quite obviously, R & R is no shelter. Ionia County Animal Control ended it's relationship with R & R after it was discovered that a dog that an Ionia Animal Control Officer claimed was shot to death, was actually at R & R Research.

R & R Research currently takes animals from Ingham County Animal Control, Montcalm Animal Control and Gratiot County Animal Control.

Cheri-Hill Kennels of Stanwood Michigan trades animals with R & R Research. Cheri-Hill takes animals from Montmorency Animal Control and Osceola Animal Control.

A new contract with the Class B Dealer is being considered by our county Commissioners. PLEASE..join others and voice your objections at the County Commission meetings which are held at 1:00 P.M. every 2nd and 4th Monday. The meetings are held at the old County Courthouse in Stanton. Meet members of the Concerned Citizens Coalition and become a voice for our pets!

Write or call your County Commissioners

Tell them that you are against the practice of giving our animals to a Class B Dealer to sell for experiments. Tell them to put a stop to it NOW! Remember, when writing to the commissioners, be respectful.

Thank you Joycey. I just dont understand people, how the hell can people do this, the animal shelter, the class b dealers, the research people - all animal abusers, all animal torturers, knowing she is going there, sending her there. It haunts me, looking at her face, knowing hundreds are subjected to this horrendous, evil torture. Disgusting.

Why aren't the big media networks given the info to do stories about these horrble places? Has someone contacted anyone in the media? All these places are down south and back east from me, and they wouldn;t listen to me even if I tried. They would think I'm a nut case. But surely there are media sources down there that would put this info out onto the wire to help stop this crap for good.
None of these places can get bad press. PETA would surely get them good with protestors. ? Anything to get the spotlight on them and their practices.

Found this then on the site, pray it is true. But like the fellow that said that is rescuing them, they are unable to rescue all the poor fellows, they need to stop the pound seizure, need the Moncalm County commissioners to ban selling the dogs to research, to Class B dealers. Anyway, thank goodness Liz has been saved, but for all the others ... the fight goes on and our hearts remain broken.

I just received this e-mail:

Stanton research LIZ will be safe; need driver in MICHIGAN to get her 8:45 AM FRIDAY 12/19 to vet; she has a home. Please call me if you will get liz from stanton and bring her 20 miles to the vet, so her family can get her on saturday. thanks.

And this rescuer said that Moncolm County is not the only shelter that does this - The next county over (Gratiot County) and the next county north-northwest (Mecosta) county also give dogs to the Class B dealer, as does the county north of that (Osceola).

Is there no HIGHER 'LAWS' anyway on God's earth to stop Animals being treated in such an appalling well? When these people who are suppose to up-hold the "Law" they'll surely regret it in their "retirement years" for they'll be "hunted" by all the "Animals" they've allowed be "Hurt & Killed" during their present life, when they have the "POWER" to prevent such appalling happenings to Animals.

These animals were put here by God for us to take care of them & in return they would give us their undying love...no matter how much an animal is abused they always come back to you giving you their love...how come these creeps don't get a steeper sentence immediately & the authorities should throw away the damn key after these scum are sent to jail...noted with much sadness that some sicko/sickos could do this to this poor unsuspecting furbaby..RIP Baby you are with God now...I WILL TAKE ACTION ON THIS..thanks Simone for staying on top of this & supplying all these links...

Noted and thank you dear Simone for all the advocacy you do for the animals.

My heart breaks for all these poor animals, like so many of us here I want to save them all. Whilst we always have immediate needs to save these poor dear souls, we also need to look at the longer term. If all Puppy Mills were banned the Shelters and Rescues wouldn't be so overwhelmed with these precious dogs, who can in some cases like in this story, become 'prey' to Animal Testing and Research. Shame on them instead of respect and compassion for the dogs they show selfishness, cruelty and greed!

There are inhumane, selfish and greedy people all over the world; I doubt that they will change their nature so laws have to be toughened and enforced. Our task to protect the defenseless and voiceless (humans and animals) is enormous; but each one of us in our own way can and do make a difference. Educating the children that animals really do matter and deserve respect and compassion is important, as they are tomorrow's leaders. Bringing the injustices to public attention through the media, lobbying politicians to get better laws are just some of what we tirelessly campaign for. Unfortunately it takes a lot of time and effort by those of us who truly care for the well being of all species who share our planet, and for this dear friends I thank you.

Some press barons are just that robber barons, no matter how morally important the news, if it doesn't bring the mulla, it's not being printed,
here we are preaching to the converted, but with their help in a bigg way it might bring more to our shores and things would change, in the way people vote, or spend their money, lobbying for much stiffer laws shure then would find more votes on the ballot box

Liz is safe. She was returned 24 hrs later. please see below, please help the other dogs.

Calvin is safe, so is maggie, buck, sparky, homer, penny, radar, mason, goldie, tipi, murphey, joey, goldie, liz, max...but not the other four.

** NEED TO GET THE DOGS OUT WHILE TRYING TO CHANGE COUNTY**
** ONLY WAY TO SAVE A DOG **NOW** IF YOU ARE OUTRAGED, IS TO DONATE FOR THE DOG TO GET MOVED OUT ASAP**
**SHOCKING TO LEAVE SMOE BEYOND BECAUSE OF A DOLLAR**

We have taken out 18 dogs in the last month gtom Montcalm, Michigan. the dogs go to scientific research there, where the guy who gets them can show up any time. we were told he would not be returning before Christmas, but the next day he came and took liz. by calling the county admin and the commissioner's, thankfully liz was returned, and we have now, she is doing great. the others are all going to approved rescue/foster groups...but there remains four more. thus far, the only way we've been able to save these dogs from being tested --yesterday, they were sleeping on someone's couch, tomorrow they could be chosen because their hearts are similar to humans, or they could have their eyes and ears or brain dissected -- just because they are at the shelter. please consider donating to help us get out the remaining dogs. each dog is 70 for the fee to get out, and then about 58 for vetting. while waiting for transport, we've boarded the dogs for 10 a day. i don't know if people are 'adjusted' now to the idea that shelter dogs go to scientific research, but if not, and you're alarmed that this is happening, please email me your phone number and call me if you care to donate to get a dog out, thank you.
