I have frequently given examples here of how the Republican Party is bending head over heels to interfere with your right to vote, if you are old, disables, poor, a minority, a student or a worker. In sharp contrast, Barack Obama and the Democratic Party support voting rights for all qualified voters, regardless of affiliation, and have done this to try to make it easier to register.

I can't remember a time when I was not registered to vote. Even back in the Dark Ages, when I lived for short but miserable time in Atlanta. I was forced, no other word for it but forced, into registering there under my husband's name. I was Mrs John Doe, (as were all married women) not allowed to register a vote as an independent human being and voting as a female citizen of the United States. Be very careful how you vote, think it over very carefully. Far too many important female issues have been turned back in time, against women. States rights is clearly defined in the constitution and many states have taken rights that were not inteneded by the constitution. (Tenth Amendment)

That's great! Too bad that people in Florida with their regressive voting laws and numerous attempts to suppress the vote can't use this, as I understand. Other states too!

Voting, one of those pesky inalienable rights noted in the constitution, sure does get in the way of an oligarchy, doesn't it?!

I'd love to help you guys out by voting Democratic but I won't give up my Canadian healthcare. My mother was American, born and raised in Ohio. Moved to Québec when she was 17 yr old and married Canadians, and has lived her life here ever since. I wonder if that would count for anything?

LOL Kit. I can't remember when I wasn't registered either...I'm thinkin eons here, Kit. LOL I do remember when I registered for the very first time....1978, Missouri, hometown. And I remember being so proud for having done it and designating what party I was. I have never changed it (only because Socialist) is NOT a recognized party in that state at that time and still remains unrecognized in most states, including this one. I am on the far side of the Democratic field, like Bernie, but I won't change it to Independent.
