Especially love the cartoon! Alice Walton piece depicts how very far from Sam Walton's original philosophy about his responsibilities to his employees the corporate reality has become. Thanks TomCat!

One tiny bright spot, was an article about Wal mart employees leaving work to protest their pay and working conditions. Ms Walton is a perfect depiction of the massive inequality and skewed thinking in this country. No one becomes a billionaire with out the workers, sadly these days on the backs of workers.

Puzzle — 3:53 I won't be coy about this koi — that is an ugly fish! I think it is the whiskers!

MoveOn — Perfect — prison "blues" for Alice, who once felt 10 feet tall and above all, but is reduced to mere mortal stature, and jailed for failure to pay Uncle Sam her fair share and her employees a living wage! Amen! and I say again amen!!!

WREG — Such ouvert racism and hostility! Where does it all come from? Every country has some form of racism and discrimination, that unfortunately is the human animal. But some of these Republican/Teabaggers take it to the nth degree! The party would do well to divest themselves of such individuals but they can't because their support would wane. And this is the party that says Mr Obama has been divisive?!

Politico — If a private business does not want to be politicised, which in this instance is Rmoney trying to appeal to the Latino vote, then that is his decision. And I stand with him. Actually, the story of the restaurant owner not wanting to be a Rmoney prop is likely getting Rmoney more negative attention than any attention he might have received from his appearance. Add to that the death threats and people should be able to see just how vicious these idiots are. Fake skin colouring, fake values, fake human beings. I pray that the threats are nothing more than hot air and that the restaurant owner, his family and business remain safe.

Cartoon — Gtreat cartoon! I was thinking of getting a tattoo of "Forward with Obama" on my arm to show support! I can't vote, but I could do that.

Get out the vote!!!!!

Vote Democratic 2012!!!!! Vote Obama/Biden 2012!!!!!

LOVE the "This Is Alice Walton" piece! So, where's the "trickle down" Mitt Romney is trying to sell? I'd be willing to bet that most of these so-called wealthy "job creators" are similar to Alice Walton: they pay the very least they can get away with; they provide the worst benefits imaginable --if they provide benefits at all-- because many manage to avoid doing so by hiring a larger number of employees but on a part-time employees; they buy the products they sell from China and other countries that employ children or utilize slave labor and therefore do not support American manufacturers and their employees. These "job creators" do very little to improve the lives of the American worker or the economy --but they're sitting on record profits.

I once had a conversation with a young woman who worked as a WalMart cashier. She was very happy and proud to be a WalMart employee, and her husband was a WalMart employee, too. She told me that she never knew what her hours would be and that she was called in "whenever the manager decided he needed her." She was very pleased to say that in about five years, if they don't buy anything frivolous or have any unexpected expenses, she and her husband thought they might be able to afford a down payment on a new mobile home. Way to go, Alice Walton! While you sit in your ivory tower, the people who defend your company and dedicate their lives to it live in poverty and have to wait five years for the "possibility" --there are no guarantees-- that they might be able to put a down payment on a mobile home.

I'm just wondering why those individuals who don't like or agree with Mitt Romney didn't flood Oscar Aguirre's Rosa Linda’s Mexican Cafe after learning that he was subjected to death threats and that his business is now failing because he turned down an offer for a visit by Mitt Romney --which was little more than a photo opportunity and campaign stunt on the Romney campaign's part. Look at how the religious right flocked to Chick-fil-A after its owner spoke out against gay marriage! Where are the Democrats? Oscar Aguirre should be treated like a hero for not allowing his fellow Latinos to be deceptively portrayed as Mitt's fans!

LOVE the cartoon, Tomcat!

Love the cartoon! My Dachshunds are all Democrats!;) You can tell because they have a love-hate relationship with my cat, Tucker. Trans-species relationships are a Democratic thing, dontcha think? And then you have to factor in that Badger "may" be gay, at the least he's confused - Tucker is male also & Really confused.

The only rich industrialists that I have ever respected automatically (no, really!) were the Quakers in the Nineteenth Century - who actually deserved their money because they made sure that their workers were well paid, that they worked in good conditions for the times, and they lived in good houses built for them by the Quakers, and they lived in nice streets and even had facilities on site such as free Libraries (in the 19th Century!). This modern bunch of obsessively greedy Mr and Miss Scrooges would be horrified to learn of the Quakers behaviour as they like to have slaves or near slaves (like Miss Walmart).

This has been proved once again by this from the article "From WREG: Arkansas Republicans are trying to distance themselves from a Jonesboro lawmaker who states slavery was a “blessing in disguise”. " - good grief - they have actually admitted it - they love slavery! He has said out loud what they all probably say in private"!

That cartoon was just perfect! Star to Susanne - and I tried to give a star to Yvonne (my animals are democrats too as they get along!) - but the computer wouldn't let me yet.... Thanks TC!

I encourage everyone to don the Big Bird costume for Halloween, as a statement. Or, of course, there's Seamus, but that's more difficult to pull off I think.
