Loved Preacher Phil Snider's speech. It does remind me of the way people reacted over segregation. Slavery being something in the Bible as being OK but was clearing wrong.

Maybe the Senate could censor Boner for being the obstructionist that he is as "speaker of the house"
for not doing his job to help move this country forward...

Wow! Those of us who have been saying for some time that these are recycled arguments, just got a slam - dunk by this preacher. Excellent, well done!

McCartyism was a plague on this country we should know what it looks like to b aware each time it attempts to again rear it's ugly head. People that allow or support this thinking are not patriots nor Americans, they betray the true meaning of this country.

A bit of related trivia: Ronald Reagan reported Hollywood's finest to McCarthy's witch hunts when he was Pres. of The Screenactors' Guild.............and I get goosebumps watching Issa's rants because his body language reminds me of McCarthy so much...Is that the America some politicians revere?

Puzzle — 4:10 I kicked ass yesterday. Can I give everyone the boot today?

MoveOn — I have seen this some months back, although not with the French subtitles. That was a nice perk — I could at least practice my French reading skills while listening to Snider's homophobic, come racial rant. Like most pseudo Christians, he just doesn't get it! He has failed to learn, let alone appreciate, the teachings of Jesus from the Christian scriptures (New Testament) instead relying on the ancient texts of the Hebrew scriptures (Old Testament) which pre-date Jesus. While talking about Jesus Christ, the pseudo Christians fail to acknowledge the 'new covenant' with Yaweh (God) that was Jesus Christ, and the two commandments — love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbour as yourself. (Matthew 22:36-40). I remember the picture of the back of a T-shirt courtesy of Nameless I believe, that says:

Love Thy Neighbour

Thy Homeless Neighbour
Thy Muslim Neighbour
Thy Black Neighbour
Thy Gay Neighbour
Thy Immigrant Neighbour
Thy Jewish Neighbour
Thy Christian Neighbour
Thy Atheist Neighbour
Thy Disabled Neighbour
Thy Addicted Neighbour

NY Times — To me, there is no perfect way to solve the financial crisis. However, there must be tax increases for the very wealthy so that they pay their appropriate share, and the tax burden must not fall on the middle class as these are the true job creators because they are the ones that drive demand and spending. As usual, Boehner and his boys are on their 1% appreciation day rant without regard to ALL Americans.

Think Progress — When it comes to social, political, or economic issues, I would not trust a Republican/Teabagger as far as I could throw them, and believe me, that would not be more than inch!

We have often lamented how any self respecting women could vote Republican/Teabagger. And while I agree with this, it also appears to me that, for these women, especially the wealthy, greed trumps personal dignity and self worth. For those at the lower end of the economic ladder, it is not greed but rather ignorance brought on by too much Faux Noise and low-effort thinking.

Cartoon — Ah, Joe McCarthy — "There's a communist in every American household" McCarthy. I don't know what he was drinking, but he sure was delusional, paranoid, and rabid. "Better dead than red" came out of McCarthyism. Thank goodness that the Senate had the astuteness through the Watkins Commission to censure McCarthy on at least one of the 46 charges. Following that, his career was all but dead, and a few years later, the man died.

I always wonder at how short the memory of this country is, where McCarthy was condemned but Michele Bachmann and her crazy Tpartiers stand for the same principles he stood for and are not condemned....yet. I fully expect a reversal soon and she and her kind will go the way of McCarthy too, in shame.
That speech by the preacher was great. I think his point was well made.

Oh good grief - the computer has jut deleted all my careful comment!

I loved the preacher's twist in the tail speech - he is quite right. (Does anyone have an insight on why the people sitting behind the preacher never showed any change of expression - at ANY part of his speech? Most odd).

Jigzone - tomorrow you will have a puzzle of a marina near-ish to me - but my hand-eye coordination STILL doesn't improve no matter how I try - most frustrating!

Thanks everyone. I figure Joe McCarthy acted just like a Teabagger, so U gave him a bagger hat.

From the Times article....."Accepting a bad deal would be far more harmful."

wise words. not just fiscally.

About the video, let's not forget "insert holy books here" were written by people, whether or not they were inspired by a deity remains to be seen. It's feasible they were written by the .01 percenters of the time.

I was in a court room once that got noisy at one point and the judge said he would "clear the the room" at the next outburst, maybe that had happened and they were "being good"

Let's look at what we have learned from this election: Twenty-one of 22 incumbent senators were re-elected, and 353 of 373 incumbent members of the House were re-elected. The American people have re-elected 94 percent of the incumbents who were running for re-election to an institution that has an approval rating of about 9 percent. This indicates, as an electorate, we are a nation of idiots. We're now stuck with the useless, dysfunctional government that we deserve.

Two good examples Jessie Jackson Jr, reelected, didn’t campaign once and was not representing his people since last March has now resigned AFTER being re elected on campaign funds misuse, Rangel in NY, by a wide majority, house ethics charges, tax fraud and more.. re elected… tells me there needs to be a test for voters before you can vote.
