Chuck Hagel is now experiencing something no high level cabinet appointee has ever experienced before. His appointment is being filibustered. For that, he can thank the Nevada Leg Hound, Harry Reid, who had the votes for meaningful filibuster reform. Instead, Reid humped a few GOP legs, whined, rolled over, and played dead in exchange for some very minor reforms and a gentlemen’s agreement from the Republican caucus, that they would not abuse the filibuster anymore. The Republicans have demonstrated what their word is worth by abusing the filibuster for historic obstruction.

This is a disgrace on every level. Repubs lie all the time, it's what they are best at, so I'm not surprised they are doing this. Why Reid even thought of an agreement with them is beyond belief. Do they not realize that voters in their own party are starting to distance themselves as they continue their march off a cliff?

Why does the weird Reid still keep getting elected?

Sorry TC – couldn't watch the McCain clip as I wasn't sure whether we would see the reasonable McCain or the Far Right McCain – in other words if his apparent Altzheimers was taking over again – too upsetting!

By the way - Reid believed the GOP again - he took 'their word' AGAIN?! Don't the Americans have a saying 'fool me one time shame on you, fool me twice shame on me' ???!! Shame on you, Mr Reid!

All the spine of a jelly fish and that is an insult to jelly fish. Harry really ought know, especially given his state, that when you play cards with cheats, you shouldn't be surprised when they deal from the bottom of the deck.

A GENTLEMANS'S AGREEMENT !!!!!!! Arrrrrrrrgh !!!!!!!
Accroding to Webster's definition, they could probably BOTH be called a gentleman. Welllllll....except for the portion about chivalry.....the portion that COUNTS.
However, I have come to the conclusion that the only part of the definition that really applies to Reid is the second definition....valet. Which in reality simply means SERVANT KISS A## !!!!!!!
All in all his name says it all Reid (reed).....
A spineless plant easily swayed by currents and winds.
Frankly, although his name often came up, I never did form a personal opinion of the man, but right now that opinion can be stated as DISGUSTING !!!!!
Disgusting man

TC — "…and a gentlemen’s agreement from the Republican caucus, that they would not abuse the filibuster anymore. "

How can the Republican/Teabaggers enter into gentlemen's agreement? They're NO gentlemen! They can't be trusted. They've proven that many times before. Damn it Harry, you screwed the pooch . . . AGAIN!!!

Not only is poopyhead Graham making a rucus but so is Inhofe. From the NY Times;

Mr. Inhofe has vowed to use procedural tactics to slow the Senate’s consideration of Mr. Hagel, a step that would require 60 votes for confirmation instead of the usual simple majority of 51.

But they are not filibustering! If you believe that, have I got a bridge to sell you!

Reid miscalculated yet again. Cartoon demeans the poor dog as I'm sure he has better leg choices in that body.

Since words are all-important: not fillibuster but CLOTURE.

John, there isn't a great selection of leg hump graphics. Apologies to the dawg.
Deborah requiring cloture is a filibuster.

Completely disgusted with the entire bunch - there ought to be a general site where we can reach each and every congressional person with our opinions and thoughts about the great job they are not doing.
