One might think that there are enough scandals afoot, both real those of Republican manufacture. Sadly one would be wrong, because we have now been served a fresh set of scandals from the State Department, coupled with the larger scandal that State may have been covering up by squashing investigations into those scandals.

I doubt very much Hillary woud have looked the other way on this one...
She's had some person exerience in this field, and I'm sure that set she's been packing these last few years weren't simply handed to her by Bill ;-p

Good grief – Lawrence O'Donnell's report seems to include every crime in the book! I really hope there is nothing to it – just as there has been nothing to the Repuglicon Party's repeated allegations of [imaginary] scandals that they clutch to their heaving and hysterical bosoms!

Green stars TC and Ellen - I do agree Ellen, and hope we are right!

"A report from the department inspector general’s office listed eight alleged examples of improper interference from above to head off or water down inquiries by the department’s law enforcement branch, CBS News reported Monday." Republican allegations? It's from the inspector general’s office. And I would think Hillary is used to looking the other way, more second nature than anything evil.

If Hillary Clinton is tarnished by this scandal it will be bad news for the democrats in 2016. People have been making fun of the GOP's chances in a run to the White House, but she is the only one who is running ahead of all the projected republican candidates. I sincerely hope that the truth comes out quickly. Nothing could be worse than a long drip, drip of information over weeks and/or months.

If they spent one TENTH of the energy they use on scandal-creation on actual GOVERNANCE....just think how much better off we'd be!

I don't think so. They can huff and puff but they can't blow our house down.

The superficial information we do have on this does look very bad. I would bet not one person here, left or right would condone the actions of the Catholic Church to hide pedophile's from prosecution, yet this is the accusation levied against one of own ambassadors. That he sought the sexual favors of children in exchange for money and once this information was known, he was not sent home and relieved of his duties. If that is true and Hilary did know this and did nothing or worse is part of a State Department cover-up than she should be called on this. However, only a full and open investigation, handled by almost anyone other Issa, is called for, an honest and truthful investigation.

As for men or women in any security detail, or with any assignment seeking the favors of prostitutes that are of age, that's not a scandal.

Oh yes, sure that Hillary went into their hotel rooms and knew they were with prostitutes! Not! The Republicons will continue to look in every corner for something, anything, to hang on her because they have no one at all that can hold a candle to her and they know it. I agree with Pam W. they need to get to work for our country and quit all this investigating and chest thumping when they think they've got anyone in the press listening. When I think of my tax money, hard earned from our years working before we retired, going to these asshats while they prostitute themselves out my head explodes.

I doubt that Hilary went to any bedrooms to check up anyone. That does not mean that in her capacity as the chief executive of the State Department she did not know or condone the hushing of the behavior of this yet to named ambassador. No one, absolutely no one should ever be above the law.

Power corrupts........sad that the Dems have had the chance to gain political advantages for years/decades to come and then they allow so many questionable issues......of course, are the secret service agents all Dems or are they true indies who do their work.....and of course, the cover-up is really the issue........

I don't believe this article. I cannot picture Hillary Clinton regularly hiring prostitutes while traveling. Somebody is out to crash her good reputation.

We absolutely need to consider alternatives to Hillary's nomination, because we are dealing with people who will make up anything if there is nothing there, and more to the point will time it with precision to destroy the good guys. These are the people who invented swift boating, remember? I submit for consideration Kirsten Gillibrand and Sherrod Brown.

(1) Who cares about somebody -even poor, lonely Secret Service agents- Paying for sex? I hope they were Union workers..(2) Unless it was Hillary herself, how is it News??? I would be interested if it was Hillary, I'm betting she has much higher standards than Bill, so I'd love to see her "black book"!:) (3) Democrats better be willing & able to run Elizabeth Warren instead of Hillary Clinton!!! I've always said that Obama & Hillary were interchangeable & I demand a Real Liberal next time! I Like Hillary personally, but she Was Raised RepubliCON & It Shows..so sorry, Hillary, but the party of your youth is sick & scarey & I'm tired of Corporate Democrats & RepubliCON-lite!!! (4) RepubliCONs will drag up every scandal, real & imagined to keep Hillary out of the Presidency – remember, they are Loud, Lying Ba$tards & not above instigating assassination if they can!

Anyone who knows anything about Washington knows that the Clintons are bi. Hillary isn't above a little illegal action herself so why shouldn't her protective detail get in on the act?
Of course when she was running for POTUS I had a little story about them on their wedding night. Randy Bill was primed and ready but Hilly resisted saying,"No, no, no Bill." Bill replied. "But Hillary, think of it as political expediency.". Throwing herself open she cried, "Oh take me Bill right now!" Of course the result was a child of questionable intelligence whose claim to fame is interviewing cartoon characters and thinks she can run and carry out the duties of elected office? No wonder we're in trouble. Our top leaders are all programmed puppets serving the 1%.

Thank you for the important news and the informative comments. I usually watch Hayes, Maddow, and O'Donnell. As for this mess, I hope it turns out to be the same sort of false scandal that was aired about Menendez. Perhaps, the accusers were paid to make false statements. Regardless, I too would love to have a true liberal, who represents the people, run for office, and have the opportunity to work for a Warren campaign. I'm sick of the political drama. I get this creepy feeling that it's all just a kabuki dance, a performance, created to keep the public distracted from the real issues in order to prevent civil unrest. It makes my skin crawl.

Why can't they just keep it in their pockets!?! Then there would be no scandal etc. There would be nothing to cover up. Haven't these guys learned yet that you're bound to get caught? There is always someone that thinks they can gain something — career move, retaliation, a warm fuzzy feeling — from opening up a can of worms, real or imagined.

If this does go to the top and implicate Clinton, even as "you should have known", the Democrats really have to get their shit together for 2014 and especially 2016. The pious Republican/Teabaggers lead by that over zealous weazle, Issa, will pound infidelity, family values, and possible security breaches to death.

Thanks everyone. A couple clarifications... I did not suggest that Hillary was personally involved in the use pf prostitutes. It is alleged that her Chief of staff quashed investigations. The leaked memo cane from the Inspector General in her own State Department, so on thew surface, this is not Republican manufacture. However, the allegations could come from Republican moles in State. We just need to wait and see.

State has been developing a reputation for ineptitude and bad management for the last several years. This is no surrise and I also doubt that Hillary was persoanlly in the loop; she's just such a bad manager, or overly trusting soul (which after bill I doubt).

I do take exception to another "gate". One would think the media of all ilks would have a little imagination and come up with another term for government failures. E.g., get a little style in the old gate.

I hope not. She has handled herself well and with dignity and authority on the international stage. She'd make a great President.
And it would be a defining moment for womankind to have a woman President one day.

maybe instead of anything bad that is said against obama or clinton is a gop witch hunt you might want to take the time and investigate this administration. it's long past time. they have been given more free rein without the press on their backs than any other before. if power hungry people aren't watched at all times they get greedy.
obama has in secret increased the nsa scope and that's just the tip. just because somebody is gop or dem doesn't make them good all politicians should be watched and held in check no matter what party they belong to.

I don't want to believe Hillary knew anything about it. But, what was her Chief of Staff thinking? No matter, I personally prefer to push Elizabeth Warren for Pres. in 2016. Just my opinion: she is seemingly "scandal free" and has proven to put "we the people" ahead of anything or anyone else.....No Corporatist, she.

Thanks to all but one I did not characterize this as a GOP witch hunt, despite the many bogus witches they are hunting on many fronts.
