Once upon a time, the residents of North Carolina enjoyed the benefits of US citizenship, but I’m sad to inform you that the state of North Carolina has now been replaced by the Fascist Totalitarian Plutocracy of McCrorystan, and their TEAfuhrer, Pat McCrory, is goose-stepping them backwards into the 19th century.

"In order to make it harder for opponents of these right-wing policies to challenge their sponsors, North Carolina Republicans have unloaded the kitchen sink of voter suppression…"

Well, one needs remember that this is the state that passed a law allowing for only an 8 inch rise in sea level. Those teapublicans think they can overturn the laws of nature too. They can't. Those nice golf course resorts that make them so much money? History, in a matter of years, no matter what laws they pass. The good news is that some of what they are up to now isn't under their control, not a state's rights issue and cannot be legislated by the NC except as a form of grandstanding because they are federal issues and laws. So, let them waste the time and money of their citizens, they'll be gone soon enough as people waken to the full extent of what they intend to do. Walker won't last forever in Wisconsin either. Their days are numbered though I doubt most of them can count - past 8 inches anyway...

I hope Gene is correct and that the people will get these bums out of office ASAP. With the Bros Koch and their millions poured into these states, it is hard to fight them off. Voter apathy and suppression will play a role in wheter McCrory is booted of of office. What is scary is that when Wisconsin had the chance to do just that to the evil Walker and his buddies, they didn't do it.

What are they putting in Tea, lately? I'm not personally an advocate of many republican policies, but in past years they were just folks with some strange ideas. Now we all have to wonder what they smoke or what is in that tea, as a group they seem to be always be foaming at the mouth, Looney Tunes, solid owners of the crackers and nuts. The darlings of the Tea Party, are directly open about their unvarnished hate of all minority rights but mostly the right to vote and the right to love your partner.

Another question is why they hate woman? Are we really that threatening to Republicans?
Even Republican women demonstrate a dismal view of accomplished women.

TomCat is absolutely right. We must be prepared vote, and help others in states that are attempting to suppress the vote. Make your own distain of these policies known at the ballot box.

Maybe one day, these troglodytes will realize that they have seen the enemy, every morning in the mirror.

Thanks TC – very good article and very good video – may God bless everyone in the Moral Monday group! Hooray for them! Having read and listened to so much that Gov'r Pat McCrory has done – I thoroughly approve of the revised flag (it made me blink at first), however it is very apt – it sounds as though McCrory and his ilk and the Koch brothers would love it (in private, of course, it wouldn't be politic to admit it in public!).

I also agree wholeheartedly with your slogan -

The punishment for apathy is Republican tyranny.

Oh Gene - I had forgotten that they passed a law in NC only allowing an eight inch rise in sea level!! I do wonder if there is something in the water that makes people lose their sanity and vote for these vile people, I really do! Wish I could give you a star Gene but I don't think I can till tomorrow!
Stars all over the place - where allowed!

Thanks Tom--this is a vivid picture of what some of those with money would wish on the whole country. My heart goes out to NC--but I also know that the courts will intervene in some areas that are unconstitutional and that the grassroots outrage should be able to do some house cleaning to sweep those motivated by something other than the public interest back into their sewers.

Kit, I be thinking about----Another question is why they hate woman? Are we really that threatening to Republicans? --- Well it is a fact that women out live men, and also vote more that men do!

The only way they are getting elected is because of those wasted protest votes that you referred to TC, and crooked elections. These people are bonafide fruitloops and that is exactly why the power mongers want them in office.

North Carolina shouldn't even be allowed to be in the South (it is NORTH Carolina!;), probably why they bend over backwards to out-hate Real Southern States..;) RepubliCON women are willfully ignorant so as not to upset their husbands' limited grasp of reality (and math! I bet Someone was shocked about how much 8 inchs actually is!;).

When we wonder how can people who have the crazy ideology take control of any population we have to remember too that some are just not that intelligent. and that goes for the republican-women who actually support legislation that will hurt and set their own gender back to the 1300's.

Another reason why Republicans can get away with lying and thereby control so often is because the mainstream media refuses to challenge them. The media has become a willing accomplice in the GOP’s lie to win strategy by treating lies as equal to facts. Republicans know that they can go on television and spread their false talking points with little or no resistance from the media. Republicans have turned the press into empty headed megaphones by refusing to speak to anyone in the media who will challenge their lies. Republicans withhold access to anyone who refuses to treat their lies as fact. That’s how the game works, and it is why the corporate media turns a blind eye to blatant Republican falsehoods.

There's a bear out there with McCrory indigestion! What a crock of bear scat! The Moral Monday Movement is so needed! McCrory and his cronies have to go in 2016 unless North Carolinians can recall him.

I remember reading several years ago that North Carolina was the place to do business because there were so many incentives for corporations. With McCrory lowering taxes for the rich and corporations, I guess they will stay or come if not there yet.

Taking life back to the days of the Old Confederacy. My condolences to North Carolinians!

Up with Moral Mondays!

PS — Tc, in your final comment at the end, I'm sure you meant "Moral Monday Movement" and not "Moral Majority Movement". I'm sure that Jerry Falwell would be pleased if McCrory used "Moral Majority Movement" were he around.

@ Hester --- Mars is too close! Let's try Pluto!

Thanks for posting this, TC. North Carolina is a lot worse than my Red State, Nebraska. Perhaps the biggest thorn in our sides is wacka-doodle lover of the Keystone XL Pipeline, Lee Terry (R-NE)
