Here is the tenth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s honoree is Republican Pat Buchanan, for his pseudo-Christian hatred and extreme bigotry with respect to immigration reform.

Let's hope those bigoted whites do get a ride in the back of a bus, it would be well deserved. What different religion is he speaking of? Most Latinos are of the Catholic faith. This man is a CINO, Christian in name only.

"The Daily Caller posts a clip of Buchanan warning that if “you put 100 million Hispanic folks in the United States,” the southwest will become “as much a part of Mexico as it is of the United States.”
Hah. Well that would be only fair since we stole it from Mexico in the first place. And, to be honest, there are a few states I would be happy to shed but doubt Mexico would take the hate-filled morons back. And I sure as hell do NOT want them in my state, Minnesota. I often sit in the back of the bus, there's no shame in that, not since Rosa Parks, but Buchanan wouldn't care about that either as I'm sure he is a fan of the Jim Crow laws and looking forward to their resurgence now that SCOTUS has scuttled the Voting Rights Act. Nothing could be better for this country than for Buchanan and his kind to become a minority in it. We've long been a nation that prides ourselves on our melting pot, our diversity and despite his foolish words, our newest immigrants will assimilate as well. The difference is that every other immigrant population, my own ancestors included, took 3 to 4 generations to fully assimilate. And Republicans now expect every immigrant to arrive speaking the language and to be fully assimilated by the end of the month they arrive. That was never expected of any other immigrant wave nor should it be now. This man, and his like, are as ignorant of American History as they are of moral character.

Different religions? I thought most hispanics were quite Christian. Or at least, Catholic. And what does religion have to do with it? This is a BIG country. It can handle sane religious beliefs ... key word "sane". I'd like for new immigrants to have learn the English language ... eventually. My immigrant ancestors had to. I can't think of any group of immigrants that didn't need to learn how to speak English if they were going to do well here. But ... things change ... it is all based on what the majority wants. Riding in the back of the bus has NEVER been a big deal to me ... in fact, I am pretty used to being there. So what's his problem with that? Everyone should have to ride in the back of the proverbial bus for awhile in their life. It might give some of those a*%$ holes a little bit of empathy.

In the interview with Andrea Tantaros, Buchanan mentions that the Soviet Union disintegrated into 15 countries and Yugoslavia into 7. What he doesn't mention is the initial coming together — during the Russian Empire and the subsequent Soviet era, elements marched into countries and took them over. The word imperialists comes to mind. From Wikipedia: " In 1922, the Bolsheviks were victorious, forming the Soviet Union with the unification of the Russian,Transcaucasian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian republics." Similar stories exist for Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. Estonia and Lithuania were occupied by the Russians at the end of WWII and became part of the Soviet Union. Latvia was incorporated into the USSR forcibly in 1940. And a similar situation happened in Yugoslavia with various states uniting in 1922 to form Yugoslavia. The breakup is mostly along those initial lines.
In the Middle East, countries were arbitrarily created by various other countries (ie Britain and France) at the breakup of the Ottoman Empire. Nations had been absorbed into the Ottoman Empire at various times over the years and then the breakup of the Ottoman Empire.
Of course Buchanan doesn't bother to mention any of this because it doesn't serve his purpose. If the US is falling apart, it is only because of the racist and bigoted people like Buchanan who want pure "white rule" their way.
