The crazed madmen, cackling evildoers, and worse of the National Alliance of Hostage-Takers and Blackmailers are furious about being compared with the Teabaggers by Obama (and frankly the rest of the world outside the US) and rightly so. Their professionalism and negotiation skills are dragged through the mud by Boehner and his ilk. Look at what he has suggested now. No one in his right mind would expect his opponents to take this bone he has thrown seriously.

I've just been reading the weekend edition of my newspaper again. It's not a very outspoken one, but I value it for its independence and intellectual analyses, and guess what: two pages of the main, 'world news' section explaining exactly why raising the debt ceiling is necessary, how it got to be this way, what is happening in congress right now, that the Republicans are the ones to blame for this mess, but that openings have been given by for instance Paul Ryan who no longer talked about repealing the ACA, about raising the ceiling and discontinuing the shut down, but wanted to cut down on social security instead. The analysis thinks that Obama would be open to cutting social security and expect his next move to be in this direction.

In Western European eyes, the difference between Obama and the main-stream Republicans isn't all that large (we're the socialists and communists Americans abhor, remember), so nobody here would be very much surprised if social security was pruned, but personally I'd be very disappointed if he traded social security for ACA, which is in fact part of social security too.

Saw an editorial yesterday (in my local paper), that mirrors Winn's comment to the 'T'.! Fire all the Repugs, get them out of office. Good post, hope you can get some much needed rest, good luck at church, take care, and thanks, Tom.

Puzzle — 3:42 and that's no bull!

The New Yorker — Then domestic terrorists it is!

NY Times — Crisis to crisis! That seems to be the current stategy of the Republicanus/Teabaggers. Raising the debt limit for 6 weeks, in my opinion, does not solve the problem. It only delays it, proving to the world that US politicians, predominately the domestic terrorist Republicanus/Teabaggers, are incapable of governing in the interests of the nation. The shutdown is yet another terror tactic. How dare the politicians continue to collect their salaries, especially the Republicanus/Teabaggers, when so many furloughed employees and others like the elderly, children and the poor will not be able to access adequate food etc. I wonder how high the death rate will have to go before the Republicanus/Teabagger terrorists get the message?

Washington Post — The "greatest nation in the world"? Think again America. And you can thank the Republicanus/Teabaggers and their actions over the past almost 5 years for trying to bring the US to its knees. The US is no longer a democracy but a nation with a gun to its head, that gun having been loaded, held and pointed by the domestic terrorist group Republicanus/Teabbaggers.

Cartoon — The USS Cole was attacked by Al Qaeda while in Yemen and apparently a judge ruled that Sudan was responsible for the attack. I could not find anything about Israel.

5:04, and of course it's no bull, it's a cow - it says so.

Hostage takers got a UNION?

It may be a Republican joke on America, but America isn't laughing (but I'll bet Putin is laughing his fool head off).

Correction: W was hot fully awake when I prepared the cartoon, and I confused the USS Cole with the USS Liberty that Israel attacked in 1960. I apologize.
