I just about spewed my coffee all over my monitor when Batsh** Bachmann was the first thing that popped up! Then, silly me played the clip......I didn't have the barf bag ready......these INSECTS elicit a Pavlovian Response from me every time now. That is not good, Cat Man, not good at Pavlovian Response is not to ring a bell....

These are NOT Christians and I wish real Christians would stand up and get vocal about them because silence is compliance and it gives people the impression that real Xtians are ok with them representing their beliefs as Xtian. Love your 'toon on it too, Cat Man.

Sorry TC – I stood 1 min 48 seconds of that video but I was so angry with their utter UTTER lies that I had to turn it off – what oppressive president is Batsh** Bachman howling about? Oh I'm sorry – they mean DEMOCRACY – that means that you can't have all the toys in the sandbox and you must give some to others and listen to others sometimes! Strewth!

NB that lot wouldn't know a principle if it walked right up to them and looked them in the eye – anymore than they would ever know real Christianity – probably because they are all so busy marking their favourite passages of the Old Testament and have never ever bothered to read one Gospel – let alone all four! (Steam coming out of ears!!).

[[Barf bag alert? Coronary thrombosis alert too!!]].

On a depressing Sunday afternoon with rain coming down in bucket loads for days now, your thread today was just too much, TC. How much doom and gloom and excuses for humans spewing more lies, prejudice and egotism can a girl take on a day like this. The shut down is going into its third week and the debt default is close at hand, and these slime bags are patting each other on the back about what great job they're doing. And I don't even have to live with it or through it, if it doesn't come down to a world wide financial crisis, that is.

For today I stick with the puzzle. I'm lousy at it, but it gives me more joy than America's 'finest'.

Beautiful, that last comment in the interview. If Jesus were to show up at that summit he'd be a brown skinned liberal and they'd ship him off to Juarez. It never stops amusing me that Christians (and I grew up in a family full of them, my mothers family were loggers originally and built the little Lutheran church I was raised in, both mom and grandma Sunday School teachers - who both forbade me from asking questions they couldn't answer) think Christ is a blue eyed Caucasian male. That is beyond idiocy. Christ was a Jew. And He did spend his entire life ministering to the sick, the poor and the underbelly of society. He was EVERYTHING today's republican party is NOT. They are the pharisees and scribes he railed against. And they'd kill him again today were he to show up again.

The rest of those sickening blowhards are little more than the know nothing racists they appear to be, because that is who they are deep within. They couch their hatred in simple minded rhetoric but there is not one among them who could cast the first stone. Not one.

I'm sorry I already sent all of you stars today - you deserve more. Thank goodness you make me laugh as otherwise, I'd have to just open a vein and get this over with. BB King talked about being booed at a concert once - he said, "it was like being black twice". Not only can I relate, but I'm beginning to feel like I'm black and being harassed by rich white folk who claim to be Christian... And just looking at Bachman is enough to make me want to vomit...when she opens her mouth, it's really all over...

Rolling through with a huge bucket full of stars and shaking it out on everyone...stopping at Lona's chair and giving her a big hug.....tomorrow is another day grilfriend, it may be better than today, but these buttwad insect fascist bastages will never get better so try to ignore them...yeah, I know....I can't either, but it sounded good, huh.

Personal observation and opinion.....those that go by the Old Testament are NOT Christians, they are Jews (it is the Torah after all) and those that follow the New Testament and do not let the OT hold sway over them, ARE Christians. Just my thoughts.

Puzzle — 3:14 Time ran out on me!

NY Times — I wonder how the Republicanus/Teabaggers would react if citizens would are only getting part pay or no pensions etc started sending their monthly bills to them with demands to pay them? There are so many nasty effects fom the shutdown. But it galls me when I think of the Republicanus/Teabagger Congresscritter who had the balls to say that she could not go without her pay cheque because she had bills to pay! Bills to pay!!! As if others don't! The sheer arrogances sticks in my craw. I wish I could remember her name and state because I would advertise her statement far and wide.

MSNBC — Sorry TC, but I like Pat's alert better: Coronary thrombosis alert! for this one! This really made me see red (not Republicanus/Teabagger red). I am finding that the more I see and hear about the Republicanus/Teabaggers, the more I intensely dislike them for what they are doing to ordinary citizens.

Just listening to Guano Girl, Rand Paul, Paul Ryan, Allan West, Rubio, Cruz etc is enough to give one a coronary. I thought Ed did a good job of outlining what the real Jesus did and would do if he were here in 2013.

Rand Paul: "… From Boston to Zanzibar, there is a worldwide war on Christianity."

You know, I agree with Paul. Where I disagree with him is on who is waging war on Christianity. The war on Christianity is being waged by the right wing fanatical evangelical pseudo Christians like Paul, Rubio, Cruz, Bachmann, Bryan Fischer, Beck, Ryan and West. In Jesus time, they would have been the Pharisees and Sadducees, possessed by seeming righteous rather than caring for all God's children.

John Fugelsanf, liberal commentator : "Jesus wasn't a homophobe. Being gay is natural; hating gays is a lifestyle choice. And if Jesus showed up Ken, and I know you're a nice guy, but if Jesus showed up at the Family Values Voter Summit, you know exactly what would happen. He'd be a brown skinned, homeless liberal who spoke no English and those guys would ship him off to Juarez."

Jesus would see that the poor had food, not try to cancel the SNAP programme.

Jesus would heal the sick without charge, and not worry about any insurance coverage.

Jesus would find shelter for the homeless.

Jesus would associate with the marginalised of society, not the hoy-paloy who thought their shit didn't stink.

And, I would hope that before his forced trip to Juarez (which I know Jesus would gladly make) on the Republicanus/Teabagger bigotry express, Jesus would have cleared the room at the Values Voter Summit.

These psuedo Christians are entitled to their beliefs, but they are NOT entitled to inflict them on anyone else. The 1st amendment guarantees that. But that is exactly what they are trying to do. They are trying to write laws based on the Bible that all people in a pluralistic society are bound to follow. They are NOT entitled to rewrite history to make their own version of Jesus. Down with the pseudo Christians.

Think Progress — I am a long time Canadian banker who was involved in the mortgage industry both with mortgage brokers and branch banking. I travelled to Buffalo NY to see the American system at HSBC Bank and so have an understanding of it. I was appalled by some of the things I saw, weaknesses in the US system that left both banks, but particularly consumers exposed.

"…Wall Street Journal editorial board member Mary Kissel claimed that “there hasn’t been a single homeowner who has been identified who was foreclosed on who shouldn’t have been foreclosed on” …"

Oh really? How is it that many cases were uncovered and made public by the people themselves? How is it that people trying to sort out problems couldn't get their grievances aired because they didn't know who held their mortgage because mortgages were bundled and sold to other institutions? I believe that this Mary Kissel knows that she is spouting lies. Would I ever like to see her e-mail to expose her!

Cartoon — Oh yeah! Imposter my ass! I remember participating in a Bible study that was using materials produced by the Lutheran Church. The Lutherans are much more conservative than my church, the United Church of Canada (My church for example is centred around social justice and has been ordaining members of the LGBT community for over 25 years.) I was amused and disgusted by the illustrations in the materials of a blond haired, blue eyed, fair skinned Jesus. The Republicanus/Teabaggers would have loved those materials. That is the look of the true imposter!

I'm so angry that I am contemplating civil war - or at least the advocacy of some assassinations - to rid ourselves of being taken hostage every year - I wish I weren't serious about this - but this is the time when I actually think it's time to take the 2nd amendment seriously - and I've been against it all my life! I don't even know where I'd get a gun - probably couldn't afford one anyway - but this is terrorism from within - and I don't think we should abide it!

I wonder how many out takes there were in her dressing room when she was trying to remember how to pronounce "egregious". Ted Cruz seemed to be auditioning for pastor of the year (or maybe he was just trying to show daddy up), and Paul Ryan still looks like a cross between Eddy Munster and Alfred E Neuman. Since when did this country get founded on the Bible? They take the Constitution out of context as much as they do the Bible, and I will agree that both are fairly open to interpretation, but that is the only thing they might have in common. Again ... showing why we never should have allowed the institutions serving the severely mentally ill to close.

Enjoyed watching the Ed show and Ed tells it like it is too! Yes Religious people are supposed to help people most do except the Repubs and tears, they pick and choose who! We all have paid for the Aid for everyone for years. Ed had a guest that was on the top of the screen said
single payer of course everyone would be covered and Ed agreed more than once and the other one at the bottom was arguing with him about insurance, but if he had anything to say he shouldn't have sat there day after day when it was going thru. Not saying anything. too late now!! Bachman better get over it!! Face it! Sick of her! She should have to pay for the repeals she caused them!
Thank You Tomcat

Thanks everyone. Kudos to Lynn.

I think there actually is a war on Christianity, but the ones attacking Christianity are the Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians.

Well, let me see the FRC is listed by the SPLC as a Hate Group. And surprise surprise one of the big participant/sponsors of VVS is the Heritage Foundation who created the Health Care Mandate, that they all have such foam at the mouth fits about, in 1996-7 and dear old Chuck Grassley introduced into the Clinton Health Care debate. And I have no doubt that many of those attendants at VVC are also among those working with Conservapedia to rewrite the Bible to remove all of the offensive leftist and liberal phases and ideas. And No, I am not joking about the Christian Taliban of America working to edit out all of the liberal, leftist ideology from the Bible.
What I think John Gregoire is forgetting is the absolute hypocrisy of the Republican Christian Taliban of America. The only redistribution of wealth that these Plutocrats object to is when it moves wealth from the top down because they have no problem what so ever robbing the poor to feed the rich but they scream like stuck pigs if you take a penny from the rich to help a single poor person. They scream bloody murder about BigGovernmentt in health care and at the same time they are all for mandatory invasive ultrasounds, medically incorrect speaches for doctors and having the IRS and Local Police involved in every pregnancy. They are also the ones that are always demanding that food stamps and welfare be dependant on Drug testing in spite of the facts that those on welfare and food stamps use drugs at a far lower rate than those who are not.
