I bet you all remember the Kerry Campaign, and the Republican meme that Kerry was for Iraq, before he was against it, labeling him as a flip-flopper. The Republican Party seems to have taken that page from Kerry’s playbook, because lately they have performed some flip-flops that even make Little Lord Willard etching his sketch seem tame. Paul Rubio on Immigration reform is just one of many examples.

It's just amazing how two faced and hypocritical the Republicans can be. They illustrate the difference between a self-serving political hack and a true Statesman.

Tom, believe you mean Marco Rubio, unfortunately he belongs to Florida so I'm only too familiar with him. Sigh. I do hope the Hispanics they are trying to win over, remember these two, Rubio and Cruz, are not friends to those of Hispanic heritage.

I think Robert expressed it well the self-serving political hack or a true Statesman. Mitt Romney showed how it is done, running for the highest office, speaking out of both sides of his mouth and not having a problem doing so. No shame, no embarrassment, just tell "that" particular audience what they should hear and say the exact opposite later days later, or heck, sometimes even within the same day.

The sad thing is too many will still vote for them and too many with Big money support them.

That is just an amazing piece. Staggeringly so. They just can't think of anything to do, perhaps it is visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads. It certainly isn't reason, logic or humanity. Honestly I don't know that they CAN walk and chew gum at the same time and I'm not certain they can do either separately very well. I do know though what signal the republican party gets to turn it against its own ideas and policies. The election of a Democratic President and Senate. Ideology trumps reason in that party, every time. And has since 2008. It won't change and I hope the 65% of American voters who think we should replace them all at minimum replace every Tea Party pretend politician in 2014 and the Tea Party Senators in 2016. That chart of bills passed was just beyond the pale. The last two Congresses have accomplished nothing, complete gridlock, take no prisoners, compromise on nothing. The saddest 4 years, including next year when they will do little but campaign, in American legislative history. Worse, some of them are proud of it.

Gene's right again! Because these people have NO CLUE how to get us out of this mess we're in...they morph into schoolyard BULLIES and attack the weakest among us. In total denial of their previous opinions, they adopt the MANTRA of the religious ''right'' and the tea baggers...hoping against hope that numbers might just keep them in office.

They know what they need to do they simply refuse to do it. Waiting for them to do anything constructive is a waste of time, as are the 19 days they have to accomplish anything worthwhile for the rest of the year. They might as well close down till 2014 then on Jan 1, come out and announce they want to defund the ACA. With the Tea Party nipping at their heels and they themselves not able to take a stand, it will surely be another wasted year of their lying rhetoric and the underlying racism that accompanies all they refuse to do. The Dems have no chance to get anything done worthwhile as long as the rethugs hold the majority.

As soon as the shut down was suspended and Obama said he wanted to tackle the Immigration bill, we all knew this would happen. The Republicans know the only have to sit it out and ignore anything that comes their way and in January they'll have reason enough to shut government down again, blaming it all on Obama who wants to talk about Immigration of all things! And in the meantime they just go on holiday. So this year has been either doing nothing, shutting the place down or taking another holiday and nobody can tell the difference between these three states.
And the rest of the world is laughing, that is about the only result you can count on.

So, when do we take to the streets with our razor-sharp pitchforks and torches????? I''m ready!

Our country BECAUSE OF these Fascist Fundy-types and a few Blue Dogs in with them....have brought us to the brink of destruction...because they cannot stand the mere fact that our President 1) is in favor of their own friggin policies and 2) he's a black (or 1/2 black) man runnin something. That is ALL that all this MESS is about. Always has been and always will be.

They are proud of it because the "black" President will go down in history as the one who couldn't get anything done. What better way to show Americans they don't ever want to elect another black man? They want his legacy to be "failure". Period. They are doing what they were sent there to do and they are being paid well to do it. They could care less what happens to this country, other than the fact that this has allowed for corporations to gain even more influence in our government.

The average Congressional person is worth approx. $966,000. They make $174,000 a year which comes to about $86 an hour, assuming a 40 hour work week which these people NEVER do. Perhaps it is time to make being a Congressional senator or rep a volunteer position? I wonder how many would be running for office then?

As far as I am concerned, a flaming bag of dog poop can get more accomplished than those who are currently in Congress. And it creates less of a mess too. One thing they do have in common with a flaming bag of dog poop is they sure know how to raise a stink. Thanks TC

American voters just remember how we got into gov, shutdown, disappearing middle class, growing numbers of poor, and we will have new faces in congress. VOTE!

Well, Arielle, sad to say, the ONLY ones running would be those who are already independently wealthy and want to impose Republican economics and austerity on "everyone else." Instead of just most of them. If you can think of a pay structure where Congressional pay in in an inverse ratio to personal assets - oh, wait, it would have to pass Congress. Never mind.

Listen up, people - This is not the sole domain of the GOPTP. Oh No. Think of the flip flopping done by the Democrats, including our dearly beloved (?) Prez...Think it's part of the Political Playbook all politicians learn from.

Noted. Well, let's see what's in the bill that the Senate passed.....tons of pork for more "border surveillance" which effectively militarizes the border....not far from where I live in So. AZ. And, the pathway to citizenship in that bill is convoluted and tediously long. No, that's NOT the bill I want passed. In fact, I'm just for Obama granting amnesty much the same way Ronnie did at this point.
The House seems to want to pass a different bill. Does that just mean MORE PORK & more surveillance paid for with my tax dollars?! I want to know what the heck's in that bill....amendments and all. Who really benefits?

The republicans of today are absolutely disgusting, despicable and not to be trusted to do the right thing for anyone but themselves. Once again I say vote all republicans and tea baggers out of office in EVERY state at EVERY opportunity.

There is always a suspicion that when many a Republican politician was made, in a weird sort of Stepford Politicin factory they scrimped on little things like a mouth and used any spare part that was kicking around an in the case of Politician factory they overstocked on Bum Holes and unlike pigs bum holes it is difficult to sell them off as calamari. as politicians bumholes are tough and leathery and quite inedible a bit like tires or when some drunken student mistakes a condom for some gum. I also have a theory that they are so unbelievably stupid they would want to change the name of the planet Uranus as it sounds a bit rude to Urectum. The whole Flip Floppng on policies has become a feature of the Republican party as Mittens did it so often no one was quite sure how he stood on any given policy one day to the next.

19 days left in 2013 to produce legislation and the Republicanus/Teabagger leadership thinking of reducing that — what happened to solving the government shutdown issue which matures 15 January 2014, or the debt ceiling debacle which matures 07 February 2014, or immigration, or . . . ? There is lots there to legislate.

Perhaps the structure of compensation packages for legislators should be like those for the banksters they so admire — a 5 figure base with bonuses based on production of legislation that properly builds and protects Americans.

"It is the greatest of mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little. Do what you can." — Sydney Smith

Normally, I would agree with Sydney Smith. However this flip-flopping of the Republicanus/Teabaggers tells me that I cannot trust a one! With legislators going against the bills that they have sponsored . . . do they really know their own minds? To me, it smacks of "blacktracking" and nothing more. I have been accused of being somewhat sardonic at times, so how dare the POTUS govern while Black!

I think come 2014, it is time to get rid of the Republicanus/Teabaggers in the Congress so that the people's business can be done in a timely and productive manner. Can you imagine no Republicanus/Teabagger obstruction?

Chip away district by district--Denham (R-CA) now is in favor --an agricultural district. Keep pushing to get the Senate bill voted on.

Thanks,TC, Pick a topic...any topic...if Repubs, were for it ...once Pres. Obama was elected ...They are against it. Anything The Pres. is for ...GOP is against...even if they aren't really / or were for it. Such hate.!!! We have to vote 'em out. Besides, GOP in the House are useless....they don't work, take lots of vacations & when they are in session nothing gets done anyway...so...they're USELESS !!

Oh no... the spammers are in C2NN, is nothing sacred from their clutches?

Katherine R is spamming in Care2 C2NN aisle 5 and she'S using the same profile photo as does Elizabeth C,. It is so very interesting how these spammers are using the same photo under different names is it not? Fake profiles, not real people at all. They are 'reborn' over and over again.

For those who flag spam, she has no visible profile which is very typical. Please flag this spam if you have the time as these people are here to make money and they could care less about Care2. If one goes to these sites, they often both sell your information to others and you can face identity theft. Please be careful when you see these spammers as they don't have your interests at heart.

Nothing about republi-can'ts really surprise me. We have the same thing in Canada, called the Con-servative Party. One can never really trust what they say, especially in the Canadian Senate, one scandal after another.

So much for thinking and responding with the idea of what is best for United States and its citizens. Our politicians are no longer concerned with their constituent! They have created an environment that they work for the corporations, they decide their salary, bonuses, and perks, and they decide how long they work. WOW what a racket they got going for themselves!!!

Not to mention a much needed Hazmat suit when near any recycled tea party leaves! If one reads the leaves, it says greed and often considered toxic waste.
