Here are the results of our Will They, or Wont They? Poll. Politics Plus Polls are not scientific, because those who respond are not balanced according to demographic categories. Therefore, we do not accurately reflect the makeup of the US population. Nevertheless, our polls are often accurate.

Of COURSE they'll try! What else can they do? Cooperate? Do their jobs? Work for the good of the nation?

Thanks TC – I'm rather afraid that they have all been drinking too much of the TP Kool-aid and it may affect their brains – what am I saying? It affected their brains years ago – the only question is can any of them recover?

Nevertheless i hope the poll is accurate and they make a fuss but don't actually go through with it.

They have all the time in the world to think up some new stuff to taunt Obama with now that they have given themselves a longer holiday. They'll think of something, but will they have the guts to pull the same stunt twice?. It's perhaps not so much guts that matter as much as the fact they just can't help themselves. What else are they going to do, govern? Please...that would be too absurd.

if its bad for the US and make President Obama look bad, then of course they will do it again.

Ty Tom ...

In their warped, depraved, deeply disturbed is just practice for when they shut it all down for good. . .

"The ingrained idea that, because there is no king and they despise titles, the Americans are a free people is pathetically untrue. . . . There is a perpetual interference with personal liberty over there that would not be tolerated in England for a week." ―Lady Margot Asquith

“When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know whether to answer 'Present' or 'Not Guilty'.”
― Theodore Roosevelt

"Among us today a concentration of private power without equal in history is growing.

This concentration is seriously impairing the economic effectiveness of private enterprise as a way of providing employment for labor and capital and as a way of assuring a more equitable distribution of income and earnings among the people of the nation as a whole.” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt

"I have two great enemies, the Southern Army in front of me and the bankers in the rear. Of the two, the one at my rear is my greatest foe. [As a further undesirable consequence of the war...] Corporations have been enthroned, and an era of corruption in high places will follow. The money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in the hands of a few, and the Republic is destroyed." —Pres. Abraham Lincoln

Yes, some will try because they have been programmed that way. You find some great quotes, Elle - today I especially like Teddy Roosevelt's - they are all guilty! Of SO many things...

Only time will tell what they'll do...maybe the still-sane portion of the GOP will stop the madness?????
Again - if they do threaten to go over the fiscal cliff - it is just alot more nails in the GOP coffin...there are far too many elections going on now and thru next year! Already, our Dem City Council President is now running for House and AHEAD of our 16 yr do-nothing House Rep who barely squeaked out wins in the last 2 elections - maybe this time he'll have to figure out how to pay for his big house, nice car and kid in college. (When asked if he'd still take his paycheck after he voted to shut down the govt, he said "Dang straight...I need my paycheck to pay for my nice house, big car and kid in college." BIG MISTAKE. I called all the TV channels and left voice mails for him. He later had to apologize to his constituents when it made the news and newspaper.) I can already hear the GOP death knoll.

Primary question is timeline for criminal and ethics investigations in comparison to when votes need to be held again and whether any are brazen enough to view findings of violations as a badge of success.

They keep shooting themselves in the foot. They seem to stupid do do otherwise. Willful stupidity is evil and evil by it's nature always destroys itself.

"ENDA is a bi-partisan proposal modeled after Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which outlaws workplace discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin."

This brings back to mind for it before they were against it. I can see the republican part of the bi-partisan part not voting for this anywhere. I optimistically said, yes in the Senate, no in the House. But with little confidence though it IS a wonderful piece of legislation that is sorely needed in this country. Sigh.

Noted. It is absolutely embarrassing how some members of Congress conduct themselves. They need to get a life.....far from politics. Thanks TomCat for sharing.

Some will try....won't work. Hopefully the few sane GOPer will stop them. The stupid party will do anything they can to try to make Pres. Obama look bad....However....when it comes to the Debt....Well , it's been cut in half in the last 4 years....Pres. Obama did that. and it looks Good !!!

To think that Lincoln was an early Republican!
In trying to get some kind of adjective that is not quite crude, to describe the Repugs at this point I can only say that "Cruz Issa Boehner!" And, "McConnell Cant(or) govern!"
Yes, I know its puerile, but the frickin imbecility, and total disregard for their fellow humans just puts me over the top.

I hope they don't succeed again, they did enough damage last time.

As I said in the Open Thread, I think that the Washington weenies will try to repeat the last fiasco in early 2014, but I really hope they will not. I certainly do not share Harry Reid's confidence. There is no doubt that this last fiasco hurt the Republicanus/Teabaggers significantly, but I have no confidence in their ability to learn from their mistakes. They are too accustomed to drinking the insaniTea and as a result have addled their brains.

Oh yeah, they'll try. For the mere fact that, insanity is described as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome each time......yes, they ARE that frikken BATSH** CRAZY.
