Here is the thirty-fifth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s honoree is Jean Boyd, a Texas State District Judge. She is so honored for making justice truly Republican, something that can be bought by the 1%.

How much did she get to let this miscreant walk? Justice? She doesn't know the meaning of the word, so what is she doing in the robes of a judge?

Wow. Words pretty much fail me. So, when this kid shows up again (and he will), is this gonna be his permanent get out of jail free card?

Arielle that is one of most original thoughts on this kid yet. Don't get mad if I use next discussion I end up in about him. It's really brilliant.

It occurs to me that this judge will be responsible when this kid returns to court - and so if he isn't going to serve any time, SHE should....

funny story
I once threw the judge for the state supreme court and her idiot husband right off the boat
landed them on the nearest island and put them off
imagine a supreme court judge bringing drugs aboard the boat in a foreign country
confiscation risk, the broker said I did the right thing,reprcussions/NONE

I shared this lowlife on Twitter. She needs to be shamed and definitely held accountable WHEN this little snot returns.

There is one very private and expensive Rehab that is willing (for a price) to take this kid and create a one year program, or essentially extend their 90-day program. That to one side, we do not know if this kid is really addicted, if he is, the way to clean up those addictions is by first and most important to want to make the change in one's life.

I don't believe a life sentence is called for here, but some jail time just might make this kid realize that he - no one has a pass on personal responsibility. He is still young, he might be able to redeem his life of useless and malicious behaviors, if he had to face the same consequences as you or I.

I don't think the judge or his parents have done him any favors. Next time, and we know there will be a next time, he just might find a democrat on that bench, or a republican that puts duty to law above this "Twinkie" style defense.

I hope all is going well with the move, TC.

What a tragedy.!!! Seems a lot of the pampered and privileged children of the rich get away with not taking responsibility for their own actions and to be taught the word 'accountability' by their parents....I'd still be in jail (with the key thrown away), if I ever did something like this. This kid hasn't learned a thing, and isn't afraid of the courts now either. He'll call Daddy the next time. Take care, and Thanks,Tom for this.

This is so humiliating and sickening to me because I reside in this f***ed up fascist state of TX where this bullsh*t 'conviction' was handed down. If you think there are NOT two (unequal) justice systems in this state and in America in general, you are NOT paying attention….or one is living within the 1% bubble. How much more BLATANT can our Fascism be if not by this tragic miscarriage of justice and calculated and total DISREGARD for the LOST LIVES of HIS victims.

This useless, selfish, self-centered, devil-may-care-cuz-I-don't sociopathic POS will 'learn' absolutely NOTHING through his 1 year 'therapy'. I really hate to say this, having worked in the prison system, BUT, REAL prison TIME may be the ONLY thing that may snap this cockroach out of his little affluent bubble and welcome him into the REAL frikken world where there ARE real consequences for MURDERING 4 human beings and maiming others for life. Because, without that little 'reality check', this insect WILL do it again.

PS...the so-called 'judge' in this case needs to be unbenched/disbarred and needs to go crawl back underneath the rock she slithered out from under. She has been BOUGHT and is CORRUPT.

Well we can't always get our way but the judge should be careful when she parks her car at the mall. Ethan might be taking a joy ride.

Judgie baby must have a very good "payola" income. Throw this crazy off the bench. Disbar her from ever doing anything in the law again, she is a disgrace. Thanks TC

This is one big mess and disgusting. This judge needs to retire and leave the bench to those capable of rendering a fair judgement.

Today’s honoree, Jean Boyd, will not hear the last of this madness! Nor will the kid that killed and maimed all those people. The media and every talk show has picked it up and run with it! This will not bode well in the future elections for the GOP...karma ia a bit*h!

He & his parents should have to do Community Service, get couseling, & lose their drivers' licenses – pay reparations of whatever amount the Victims' families demand and be put on the Terrorist Watch list for being Privileged Terrorists at Will!

This is beyond disgusting. This man is a murderer. When you drive an automobile and you are drunk, it becomes a weapon. He should do jail time because he has learned absolutely nothing. I am totally sick of the GOP/Tea Party and their behavior. You wouldn't believe the things I uncover in my work. We need to get rid of the do nothing congress in 2014.

since, according to the video, the parents are really at fault --- how about they serve the time for the crime while he goes to treatment....or after his treatment he serves his time???

I agree with anyone who has said that this boy's parents should be in prison right now. Parents used to be responsible for what their minor children did. And they should be held responsible for what their minor children do. Key word here is "children", and this "boy" is a child at 16 years of age. I would hope that no one would be wanting a child to spend the next 20 years of their life in an adult prison for doing something that was due to "childish behavior". I know I was stupid enough to drive when I was drunk at 16. I was just lucky enough to have driven slowly while doing so. Yes, the boy has a bad attitude and needs a reality check, but adult prison is NO place for a teen boy. I just hope that he gets the help he needs in rehab so that he doesn't keep the holier than thou attitude.

The Daily Kos has some info on the shrink. At the end of the article in the sentence or two after the orange dingbat is a link to a petition to remove Ms. Boyd (do I have to say "The Honorable" Ms Boyd? Gag me!). I said on a Care2 post that perhaps the bribe was big enough to keep her in luxury the rest of her life, because she's gonna need it.

Someone else, on that post or another, there has been a lot on this in a short time and I'm not sure where, but someone had the bright idea of writing your children a letter apologizing for your bad parenting and never teaching them the difference between right and wrong (and a little more taken directly from the verdict) to provide them with a lifetime get-out-of-jail-free card. I know, it wouldn't work, but it's clever. BTW, spammer flagged.

Seems some huge restitution by the parents to the families was also indicated at the very least--no justice for the victims in this case
