"While almost all working Americans will pay into Social Security through their paychecks throughout the year, the 900 wealthiest people in the country won’t. That’s because the highest-earning 0.0001 percent of the U.S. — many of them corporate CEOs — made $117,000 in the first two days of the year, which is the maximum annual income that is subject to Social Security taxes under federal law."

Arggggh! How thoroughly disgusting is that? I'm guessing most people haven't a clue or there would be heads rolling.

First order – get rid of Mitch, yes! Second order, scrap the cap!!!

Really enjoyed the video of Chris Hayes. Don't always get to watch him.

#:29 - one piece was hiding under the puzzle - thought I would never find it.

I'm pleased New Orleans sent Philly packing.

Every one no matter what their income should be paying into Social Security. I have read and heard all the arguments for the higher incomes to not be "forced" to pay for something they will never use. That is not always the case. I know of one man that has not paid into the system he does not have the required 40 credits. A combination of lousy investment advice, poor planning (more common than one might think) and a little thing called the market crash. He is now 68, not healthy but forced to work to try and accumulate those needed credits to some day retire. The fact is no one knows what the future might bring. One could see this as an insurance policy to guarantee, that for ones own selfish reasons or for the public safety that 6.2% will help to secure the future of a program you might not like but are smart enough to realize that it is needed.

7:57 I fear having hurt my shoulder Friday evening is slowing me down even more than usual.

Hayes - Chris is wise indeed to be able to recognize himself as the recipient of privilege. Most people don't, whether it is white privilege, straight privilege, male privilege, abled privilege, or whatever.

You are assuming Mitch will win the primary? He may of course, but I am not sure.

Scrap the cap indeed!

Cartoon - First you have to find a Republican man of quality.

We watched the show where Chris spilled the beans. So true what happens to young black people.

Scrap the cap is the only answer but I won't hold my breath for the Republican politicians to do anything against their pimps, the corporations that fund their elections.

Cartoon - loved it! Thanks Tom

It was very brave of Chris Hayes to confess to his own misdemeanor of more than 10 years ago, but also a wise tactic to show how skin deep the confession of David Brooks really was. Brooks, unlike Hayes, at no point realized how lucky he was he was white and therefore had not ended up in jail just for smoking marijuhana. If he had been black he would have landed there.

Although it seems great news, TomCat, I have some difficulty interpreting the TPM news on Mitch McConnell. Either the GOP thinks he's going to lose the primaries no matter what and thought it wise to back no longer endorse him financially back someone else, or the GOP is absolutely convinced that MConnell is going to win no matter what and think he doesn't need any more money, because it's a done deal already. But hearing about him not being backed is good news, no matter what the reason.

It's unthinkable that anybody with any income at all would not pay into Social Security in Holland. It isn't called SOCIAL Security for nothing. Everyone pays up, not for oneself but to keep people in trouble going, and everyone hopes he'll never have to make use of it. I know I'm now going to mention the word Americans seem to be the most allergic to off all: this contributing by all is called SOLIDARITY and is the basis of any social security, ACA, whatever on which to work. And it must be the word most feared by the Republicans.

Your cartoon's button speaks of 'Men of quality", how could Republicans take offense to that? They're not to be found among them, so why take notice at all?

Yes, please, let's get rid of all these
obstructionists this year! If you are
an expat, don't forget to send in a
new request for your voter id as
required by the "Move Act" - especially
if your County Clerk is a Republican!

Working on a "Chain" gang - oof!
