It seems like the old flu is getting the better of you, TomCat. Perhaps it is better to go and see a doctor if it doesn’t improve. Arrgg, what am I jabbering on about? I never heed this kind of advice either, although I know I should. So please show that you have more sense than I have and prevent this flu from turning into something chronic or even more aggressive.

As you say, the cover of the New Yorker is perfect: little narcissistic Chris playing on the bridge and stopping all the traffic. And all of us rooting for the traffic to pull up as one and run the little critter down.
So the F.B.I. investigation confirms what we knew all along: the IRS has done nothing wrong, and in fact was only doing its job as it was supposed to. Any scrutiny was justified and applied both to the right and left. But that won’t shut the GOP/Tea Party up, will it. Not with so many true scandals of their own to cover up and deflect from. Even here on Care2 any article or comment on such a scandal, such as Christie’s bridge gate, will get is “outrage” about the IRS = Obama replies.

As you correctly conclude, TomCat, the budget agreement may not be the best deal for the Democrats and the country’s neediest, but it is far better than the second round of sequestration cuts would have been. This is a good step towards fair compromise and the way ‘normal’ governments should work. You can never get all you want unless you have absolute power and that would unbearable no matter which party had it all.
Now we can only keep our fingers crossed that the Republicans finally have come to see this too and let the bill pass.

So the little goombah is crashing and burning.........ain't Karma grand.....hope she puts the liplocks of liplocks on that SOB....never to be heard of again.

Well, we won't get all we want, but that's par for the course in least they didn't cut SS or Medicare. That's the two biggies my family is worried about.

IRS......just doing their job....OMD....something new in agency that just does their job....GASP. Good on them.

Tom, we didn't go to the doctor for the flu either. Just tuffed it out and took cough meds/severe cold n flu med from Alka Seltzer. Tastes like lemon tea but it does help a lot at night. First time hubby and I have had flu since 1994. It's got to be really realllllllly bad for us to catch it. Everyone we know says it was Swine Flu but I dunno. All I know is it tried to kill us and did not succeed. We are still here and still too damn mean to die. :) Oh, get some Elderberry capsules will kill out the bugs in your system and keep you from getting anything else this season.

Vote all republicans and tea baggers out of office in every state at every opportunity.

Dr Mercola says that Vit D3 (and Vit K2 too - see his site at is the stuff to take to make as sure as possible that we don't get flu...Even now it would surely help shorten the life of the illness?

Good grief - Terrie, you and your husband had a bad dose of it too - what is going round? I am VERY glad you are all recovering!

It seems the Christie Bridge Scandal will just gain steam rather than losing it - it really is extraordinary - what a dirty trick to play on so many people. Am waiting for them to blame Democrats - as they always do.

Please rest, dearest TC, and I am so glad that your new apartment is so much better than the old. Get better gently and thoroughly!

The cover of the New Yorker is really funny. He's going to need more than juggling A ball through traffic to get through the pending investigation(s).
I do hope that you get better soon, I can't add anything else that the ladies (above) have not mentioned. Maybe some green tea to sip? 3x's a day. (works for what ails me). In the meantime, rest, rest and more rest, and drink lots of fluids. Thanks for the post, Tom, and take good care!!!

5:10 well, better than nothing

New Yorker - Yup. Hold that thought. Angelica, been watching politics long? In the 1960's, even the 1970's, possibly the 1980's, Christie's career would be over. Now not so much.

IRS - You know, Mark Twain used to say that God made a mistake putting Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, and that if, instead, he'd put Martin Luther and Joan of Arc there, we'd still be in paradise today. But frankly I wouldn't trust even Martin Luther and Joan of Arc to enforce the tax system we have (which badly needs doing), let alone reform it (which also needs doing).

Budget - well, good luck to all of us.

I think you are right not to go to a doctor for flu, so many are complicit in unnecessary antibiotics. Bottom line is you know you best. (I also swear by elderberry incidentally, and not just as an anti-viral, it is also "M-A-G-I-C." See the libretto to "Hansel and Gretel.")

Amazingly, Christie's popularity hasn't suffered much - either that or people are afraid of horse heads in their beds. I can't help but think "the bigger they are, the harder they fall".... mean, huh?
Sending tons of be wells, Tom!

If the conservatives don't want to be investigated why do they cause trouble?

Hope that you are feeling better Tom Cat. Did you have a flu shot?. Very important,I am a retired medical professional and spend a lot of time telling those who resist that the "Flu" is NOT a bad cold ,it can have very severe complications and in years past has proven fatal to many!.
Get well soon.

Get better TC!
Sad that the "Right" has to blow so many
things out of proportion. Why is there
only angst when a Democrat is in the
White House......
At least I'm standing average on the
nice plazuela....

Exclusively and predominantly have never been synonyms--seems like the folks believing gender is irrelevant for defining couples for reproduction in wolves as newly defined (ID I think). Political donations are supposed to be disclosed under the law and not be tax deductible.
Alzheimers research and early childhood education were also winners in the omnibus proposal.
Get well soon.

Spam Flagged.
Thanks Tom for the post.
The New Yorker cover says it all!
NYT: Let the IRS do their job. 501(c)(4)'s should not be engaging in political activities whether conservative or liberal.
Think Progress: Thanks for the link to the details. Hoped for better, but until the Dems take back the House, this is about what we can expect.
Read and noted.

Puzzle — 3:47 I'm glad I am not up this tree otherwise it would break and I'd fall on my butt again. Physio for one tailbone injury is enough!

Daily Kos — No more required! Thank you New Yorker for a succinct article!

New York Times — The Republicanus/Teabagger miscreants must have selective memory and knowledge, really low self esteem if they feel the need to draw attention to others and not themselves. Bunch of putzes!!!

Think Progress — I wonder what the Republicanus/Teabaggers would say to the fact that there were/are 2 wars that were never paid for . . . 2 Republicanus/Teabagger wars!?!

"…Republicans had originally objected to the extension of the program because it wasn’t paid for. …"

I have only heard sputter, sputter, spit and then a deflrction to another topic.

This might be an improvement over the cuts, but there is so much more that needs to be done.

The best solution: vote out all Republicanus/Teabaggers from Congress! 2014 mid terms would be a damn good start!

Hey, what do you call a thousand Republicanus/Teabaggers at the bottom of the sea?

Answer: A damn fine start! Just watch out for the pollution!

Cartoon — Hmmm…. the day that the television was not available for regular programming!
