"Brenda's Last Word" commentary was PERFECT.

Love your plans for the day, Tom - I think I'll copy them.

The microsoft piece was funny - I often wondered how they dared pick on the ACA site when just about everybody born has had problems with windows and microsoft programs.

Lots of companies now declaring themselves GMO-free. More than one way to skin a cat (ahem, so to speak). If we buy organic AND GMO-free, we have a chance of getting some real food...

18 degrees, brrr....stay cozy and warm today Tom.

Yes, always check organic and low salt offerings too and find myself in the organic section of Costco now.

On the coke commercial, if the rethuglicans don't have their panties in a bunch every single day they aren't happy, which may give us a clue on why ole' Mitch always looks so nasty.

New Yorker: Andy must hate Microsoft as much as you do, TomCat. Am I correct in thinking you're more of a Unix/Ultrix (or an Apple) fan? I gave in years ago to having MS on my PC, but at the moment I'm quite content with Windows 7, it's the stablest of all versions and I had them all, believe me. That's why I dread replacing my PC or pre-loved laptop because I simply refuse to work with 8. The next version will allow you to use your mouse more, but I'm of the CTL (C,V;Z whatever) generation so 8 is just not for me. My age, I suppose, AND Bill Gates', I've noticed LOL.

Daily Kos: Brenda, you rock, girl.

Upworthy: I just love the way the USDA nails the phoney marketing tricks. Much more effective than the 'wagging finger' or the 'thou shall not'.

Cartoon: only cats can do that and for hours too, especially in wintertime near a heat source. Do you think the word "catatonic" derives from that?

5:12 I don't have ADD, I just -

Andy - With all its faults, I like Microsoft, so I will stay out of this one (except to say it is funny and well done). (Do you know the one about the three negineers and the stalled car?)

Kos - But - but - "America the Beautiful" can't have been written by a gay woman - just like there are no gays in Sochi. (note the sarcasm font)

Upworthy - You see, the theory is that everything that exists, exists within this reality we call "Nature." Therefore it is natural. Everything is natural. Yeah, right. One shortcut you can us is if it says "no fat," "low fat," "no sugar," "low sugar," or "low calorie," just think "chemical s**t storm."

Cartoon - Those are good plans.

PS - Seen Clay Aiken's announcement for Congress? (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/02/05/1275295/-Wow-Clay-Aiken-Who-knew?detail=email) I think he'd be good for McCrorystan myself.

New Yorker: Funny article as always, loved the confusion of him trying to install 8.1 on his computer.
Daily Kos: Well said, and WTG, Ms. Brenda, I couldn't have said it any better. It's a beautiful song, and yes, I remember the song, 'I'd like to teach the world to sing', also. (I wish I knew how to speak more languages, I admire that.)
Cartoon: Sounds and looks good to me...right about now. ;-)
Take care, stay warm, and relax. Thanks, Tom.

New Yorker is always good for a laugh.

Natural food ... "natural" means anything that is ... well, anything. If you want to eat healthy, look for a package that says 100% organic, because just the word "organic" allows for only 70% of the ingredients to be organic and the rest well ... "natural". Or read your list of ingredients. The lists of 100% organic food often lists the ingredients like this: organic brown rice, organic celery, organic sea salt, organic, onion ... etc. if they don't have 100% organic on the package. Organic is supposed to mean non GMO, but with the crossing of GMO plants with non GMO happening all over the globe, you really should look for the "verified non GMO" certification on the package. That says it has been third party verified to not contain GMO DNA. Who would have ever thought that just buying food that was good for you would be so hard!! The USDA and FDA does more to help the corporate food giants produce and market GMO foods than most people would ever dream they could.

Since my weather is a lot like yours, I think I will hang out on that balcony with the rest of the cats today. Thanks for the post, TC.

Funny story re: Bill Gates. Brenda did a good job taking down those who didn't like the commercial. I have always enjoyed Coke's ads; in fact used to drink ONLY Diet Coke until I gave up sodas altogether. Coke manages to include everyone, no matter who they are, which is what America should still be standing for. "Natural" has become a joke to those who are looking at labels; great spoof on what it really stands for. LOVE the cartoon. Did OK on the puzzle, but not as good as you. Thanks for the post, TomCat. Always good.

Question asked: Are there also scams involving "organic"?

Answer: Ummmmm . . . yes. Definitely.

I strongly suspect there's an "antibiotic-free" scam as well.

Joanne Dixon posted a link to a candidacy announcement by Clay Aiken. It's worth watching, if you haven't yet.

Glad to hear you're a bit better keep on that path!

When it comes to "America the Beautiful" I give Coke credit for taking a long shot since there are so many of us who are boycotting them as well as all sponsors of the Olympics, I certainly doubt Coca-Cola had an inkling of the fact the lady who penned this remarkable song was a lesbian living in a "Boston" relationship!

Coke has yet to renounce the Russian laws castigating the homosexual community, therefore one can only conclude that it is condoning Russian law and ought to be chastised and boycotted!

Maybe Gates is beginning to show his age :). although I tend to think that Arielle has it more correct no new software, program, (or whatever they call it) has an easy debut got to give it a while to iron out the kinks!

As for "organic", there is hardly any "organic" corn left on the market, I don't eat any, or any of its bi-products, any more than I eat "farmed" salmon, or fish from the gulf! It's just that polluted and cross-pollenized products aren't apealling to me any longer!

I wish I had the physique of little cats I spend hours trying to get comfortable and keeping my little one awake, while she gets herself all contorted and sleeps on a dime! She only comes into the bedroom after the "snoring" stops for "plop and cuddle" time!

Yup--forgetting history fuels insect outrage (WASPS)--she did a great job.

The lesson on no rules, regulations or statutory definition is a generic problem not just with the word natural.

I agree with Joanne--Clay Aitken's video is well worth a watch (he's challenging the representative who said she needs her paycheck during the shutdown).

Brenda's commentary is excellent!

Right now, in USA, there are over 100 different languages being spoken as
you read this.

Thanks to all but the Republican SPAMMER.

Lee, I just saw that Coke ad while watching the Olympics opening ceremony. That ad also included a gay couple. Rubbing GOP Pootie's nose in it like that is a strong enough denunciation of his Republican hatred of LGBT people for me.

Hey....I like most of Microslime, spank you very much.....LOL...except for the infamous glitches here and there.

You go, Brenda!!!!!! And slap their mamma's while you're at it just for GP...

The only way to really know what you are eating as far as 'organic' and 'natural' is to plant one's own garden from heirloom seeds. Other than that, READ the labels on EVERYTHING. They are sneaky but they can be found out.

A Kat Nap right about now sounds good but......I have Dawgs...so nappin' is out. LOL

Glad you're feeling a little batter, Cat Man. :)
