The brain dead GOP just doesn't understand that walmart isn't providing jobs it's promoting welfare. The video is great.
I love the nautical theme zigsaw. My time today was 14:46.
I hope you feel better Tom Cat.

You seem to be between a rock and a hard place, TomCat. Having the board meeting in your cat box and serving them a much appreciated dinner will save you the bother of going out for the meeting, but if cleaning and preparing takes it out of you so much and your COPD flares up again this badly, what are you to do?

Upworthy: Of course the national treasures Sanders and Reich are absolutely right in stating in nice terms that the minimum salary situation is totally absurd, but from the looks of the short video, the committee they were dealing with would not listen to their reason and sanity. One of the members said “they had no beef with the Walton family”, implying they rather keep it that way than helping the thousands of Wallmart employees live a decent life. Sanders and Reich were talking to deaf ears – stuffed with dollars, no doubt – as usual.

The New Yorker: Andy is back on top again. The Republicans are running scared now everyone in the country is talking about their “discrimination bill” that has passed and the governor is taking her sweet time to sign it because they’re not so sure now she should. The reason Andy gives for their new insights is just as funny as the ones they came up with themselves, among which was: “we didn’t know it was discriminatory” ROTFLOL. But the best bit Andy kept for last where Ms. Foyler placed the blame on the gays themselves. As she didn’t know any gays personally, it was up to them to tell the Tea Baggers what they do with their money. No one parodies the GOP better than Andy.

Alternet: this new anti-gay law in Uganda and the press release of two hundred names (often with photo) of gay people has already led to 14 men taken from their beds and beaten to a pulp by a mob, and deaths are bound to follow. And all this is power play from a liberator turned dictator and the Christian churches, backed by American religious zealots. As always it is to divert from the corruption in the country with Museveni in the lead. The unification of people, however is directed against their own and not people of other countries, and a genocide of gays me be its result. The Netherlands has already cut its aid to Uganda, will grant more gay Ugandans asylum, and is persuading other European countries to do the same. With Representatives from both House and Senate aiding the Ugandans with the legislature, the US will not be able to do the same without losing its hypocritical face.

Cartoon: Not just in election year, but you always need to believe them. But that’s getting very hard for more and more people.

It must be a real hoot to live with Andy Borowitz - if he can make us laugh over something so serious, he really has a talent, doesn't he? I will never understand the whole anti-gay thing - I did see a reporter say that sometimes what we hate is what we fear we have in us ourselves and he said that to an anti-gay protester who stumbled all over himself assuring the world he was not gay. Who cares? Blue eyes, brown eyes, blonde hair, purple hair, gay, straight - it's all a personal thing and should matter not to anyone.... sigh....
Of course, the witch hunts in Uganda are just beginning - don't like your neighbor? Tell someone they are gay.
How sad for supposedly civilized people.
Hope you are resting, Tom - everyone deserves a day of doing nothing, especially you!

Phoney "Christians" who pick and choose from their book of myths cafeteria style in order to persecute others who are not in their primitive "tribal" circle of self-serving ignorance are destined to a hell of their own stupidity. What a shameful waste of one's life. We are still not out of the age of ignorance. There are only two things that can change this horrible situation: 1) Education and 2) VOTE!!!!

Maybe the GOP should all move to Uganda????

just listening to radio and they suspect that Gov Brewer will "veto" the law and claim "they can already do this (discrimate and not serve anyone they want)".....

Alter Net: Frightening news out of Uganda, the pseudo Christian side is heating up their hate mongering. Very disturbing for our gay community as a whole.
New Yorker: Andy hit the nail on the head this time...funny piece but yet so sad, really...that AZ even considered passing legislature that would enable businesses to discriminate against gays. Unfortunately....discrimination is alive and well, isn't it?
Good cartoon, so very, very true.
Do hope that your COPD subsides to where you can rest easy. Do take good care of yourself, catnap, relax, stay warm, and Thanks, Tom.!!

Gotta love Andy! people spend money....YA THINK???!!!!! Who knew.....

Does anyone else see this in Uganda and our Fundy-Fanatic, RethugliFascist Corporawhores as following down the Road of History as in 'testing' the waters there to see if they can get away with it here as......Third Reich Nazism flashback....or am I and the Cat Man doing some really serious heavy-duty faux LSD25......

Love the toon as usual, Cat Man.....dead on. Now, do your nebulizer and get some rest. Or do I have to send Gus over there? :)

4:56 Stranded at the top of the lighthouse with short hair and no prince.

Upworthy - Wow! What a concept! Yeah, it takes Bernie and Robert to think of something so radical.

New Yorker - Is Andy sure this is satire? It sounds so real! (I don't think she will sign it OR veto it, I think she too chicken-s**t and will just allow it to lapse.)

Alternet - In the House and the Senate, and in the so-called church. Boy, I sure wouldn't want to be them when they meet the real Jesus. Anger is not his forte, but in the cases of them and other Pharisaic types, he does make exceptions. However, I also wouldn't want to be gay in Uganda. I find it so difficult to wrap my mind around how anyone can think that being what you were born to be can be a crime.

Cartoon - So true it almost isn't funny.

Hi TC.Hope that you soon feel better.
I must admit that my jaw is still on the ground re. comments from Dick the cowardly draft dodger!
However I have had a sort of my comments on the residents of our legislation.
1.They have ,in the past year been in session for 126 days(out of 365)
for this they are paid, by the taxpayers,$174,000.+ gifts from lobbyists.!!!.
2 they have tax payer subsidized universal health care.
3and recieve very adequate pensions.
They have accomplished ..NOTHING!
and WHO is responsible for this?
WE (the voting public) are!!! We, the apathetic public need to get really mad, but are too darned lazy.
Now we find out that banks in Switzerland have their untaxed money, whilst they dare to critisize those on food stamps, and assistance ,calling the TAKERS! NO FOLKS the TAKERS are in Washington. Smarten up America.(I am kicking myself for not figuring this out sooner.)

Puzzle --- 3:23 I caught a cross breeze today.

Upworthy --- The ice was thin and cracking, especially for the 1st speaker. Reich, as usual, was spot on as was Bernie. Too bad he was cut-off by time restraints.

The New Yorker --- They were blinded by their hate!

Alternet --- Personally, I think that all those that had a hand in fashioning this law and inciting people to "kill the gays" ,regardless of nationality, should be charged with genocide or other appropriate charge. There was a man in New England I think (I wish I could remember his name) who was convicted of hate crimes, some of which were in Africa. Truly sick. What is even worse is that these people claim to be "Christians" but they are anything but . . . not even the fainst smell of Christianity in their actions.

Cartoon --- Two faced, anything to win. Typical Republicanus/Teabagger! . . . and if they win the election, they will turn the other cheek permanently, but not in the biblical sense.

Sorry you're not so hot--but am very glad you aren't in Beijing to breathe that air just now TC.

And TX same gender marriage ban has been declared unconstitutional to help to balance the news out of AZ and Uganda. Wonder what the status of Shively's export of hate US court case is?

Great video. Walmart is a perfect example of corporate welfare. I doubt they would hire fewer people if the minimum wage went up, they would simply raise their prices a little more.
As for gays; who would have thought they had money? I mean, here you have two adults who aren't necessarily into having children, which cost a lot of money. They are usually intelligent, hard working, focused, educated, and like to spend their money on nice things. (At least the ones I know are.) So it just shows how stupid the Rabid Right, especially in AZ, has gotten. We can only hope it comes back to bite them.
Thanks for the great post, TomCat. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Ty Tom . . . hope your COPD calms down and you get relief soon. . .

I hope you have some relief from your COPD by now.

Upworthy: I don't know whom I like best, Bernie or Reich! Wal Mart is the biggest welfare queen in our country today. I shared the UPworthy piece on Facebook.

The New Yorker. I always love Andy. By now you know the governor vetoed the bill. I guess she knew where the money was. :-)

Alternet: The CBS Nightly News surprisingly enough, talked about this tonight, how a couple of our senators went to Uganda and had an opportunity to influence this horrid situation, but chose not to. Of course, we still have too many anti gays in this country and sadly, many of them are in our congress.

Cartoon" Of course they love us when they need our vote. After they are elected, we are the problems they need to rid the country of so they can properly support their masters.
