Hope your taking a short break after all the exhaustion of hosting meetings and volunteer work. Curl up and have a good nap.

The New Yorker: Andy is up to par again. Hilarious to imagine the faces of the GOPers reading that they want to bring the number of gays up to six million in Arizona. Even the estimation of 1 million already resident there should be giving most of the religious right a heart attack. Especially if they're counted among them!

Upworthy: These graphics always make things a lot clearer, even in a situation in which TPP negotiations are done in secret, so the worst may not be known yet. If you ever come across a similar picture of the deal across the Atlantic, which is kept equally secret and is potentially just as harmful, I would appreciate to see that one too, TomCat.

Crooks and Liars: Jan Brewer vetoed Arizona's anti-gay bill not because she found it morally repugnant (great show, Jon Stewart!), but because of the reaction from all sides and the pressure that generated. She, like a few fellow Republicans who had voted for it, crawled back under her stone and sits there to wait out the storm and hoping that some of them deem her brave for vetoing it. It would only have been brave if she had vetoed it before the tornado of indignation broke lose. By waiting until it almost lapsed she and her colleagues couldn't have done the GOP a greater disservice, she gave the protest time to build up to maximum impact across the whole US. So we really should thank her for it. LOL

Cartoon: it feeds my wonderment about the point in time the two parties switched roles. On discussing the film Lincoln I already mentioned how terribly confusing American history is to foreigners. But it also seems to be so for Republicans, as they try to rewrite it almost every day to make it fit their current politics. FOMCROTFPIMPLMAO?!? What could it possibly stand for. Please expand.

4:50 Interesting. Similar to how irises bloom except they do it on the inside and this seems to be on the outside.

New Yorker - Boy, would that ever improve Arizona! (Note: That's why I use computer chairs with arms, and I'm thinking of installing a seat belt.)

Upworthy - Of course that one Congressman was Alan Grayson. Keith Ellison's remark isn't bad either, but not quite up to Grayson.

Crooks and Liars - Wouldn't it be lovely to round up all the wingnutz who think they are "under attack" in some way and force them to sit through a seven-day workshop on the concept of "projection"? Seven days mght not be enough. How about keeping them sequestered in this workshop until after the 2014 elections?

Cartoon - Well, they really have come - not full circle - 180 degrees from their founding principles, haven't they?

Lona, I'll PM you on that.

The New Yorker: I think that would be wonderful!

Upworthy: I have signed half a dozen petitions against fast tracking the TPP.

Crooks and Liars: I think you are right, if not for t he outcry, it would have been law in AZ

Cartoon: Hard to fathom, isn't it?

Puzzle 3:20 No bananas for me!

The New Yorker As usual, Andy hits the mark! "FOMC"?

Upworthy Excellent graphic! The TPP can't be allowed to proceed. Corporations these days, seem only to exist for one reason . . . greed. I posted the graphic on my Care2 page.

Crooks and Liars Jon Stewart said:

". . . and a plague of locusts has yet to descend upon America . . . "

I might disagree with Jon's pronouncement if I consider the Republicanus/Teabaggers as locusts, which they most certainly appear to be at the very least!

Arizona is reacting to a problem that doesn't exist. Rep Steve Pierce (R) said no one told them anything so they went ahead and voted for the bill and now they are having 2nd thoughts. Scary that even lawmakers, predominately Republicanus/Teabaggers, can't think critically for themselves.

Thanks to Jon Stewart!

Cartoon The Republicans have wandered so far from their roots that they are no longer recognisable.

New Yorker: WTG Andy.!!
Crooks and Liars: Excellent piece by Jon Stewart re: the "morally repugnant" behavior of the RePugs in AZ, from Jan Brewster, who waited till it reached a crescendo, then vetoed it, to the people who actually passed the bill in the first place.!! Unbelievable.
Good cartoon also.
Glad to read your prison volunteer day went well.
Take care, Tom and Thanks!

I'm still dewin the LOL on Steroids thang here just imagining 6 million LGBT's racing for the Arizona border to get IN, not out. Awww, dammit, now I gotta go change my undies.

TPP....very very very very BAD deal for normal human beings and every living thing on this planet, including water, air and land. Dawg help us if they get it in. Then we WILL be under FASCIST rule, permanently....or until everyone on the planet rebels enmasse.

Of course RethugliFascists want to redact/rewrite/re-engineer their history (and everything else pertaining to actual facts). If they met a true Republican from that time they'd crap their pants and scream LIBRAWLS!!!! Yes, they have wandered far from their roots.....and used DDT to kill it out.

well aide from the fact that these acronyms always anger me because one does not abbreviate of, in, the, my etc. Lazy is one thing but ignorant is another. And the Gays might move there but that is where it ends. How are they going to get residency in Asszonia when there is one big problem that every one seems to forget, Asszonia as a state has no legal protections for LGBT persons in housing, employment, service, etc.. Hate to rain on the parade but 1062 was a boundless expansion not a creation of legalized discrimination.

"The group, called Americans for a Gay Arizona, has already received commitments from a million gay Americans to move to the state within the next two months, with a target of enlisting over six million gays to move there by the end of the year."

That would indeed be true justice.
