I hope Bundy goes to prison.

Hello kitty puzzle time; 6:10.

Sorry to hear you're still tired out, TomCat. Your trying to quit may have something to do with that too. But you're puzzle time doesn't seem to be affected by a lack of nicotine, so there's hope this will pass soon.

Congratulations with your birthday, Lynn!

Daily Kos: When push comes to shove, all these brave and heroic male 'rebels' all over the world turn out to be made of the same cowardly material. They put women (and children) in the front-line as a 'tactic', making the other side out as the bad guys for shooting them, but in fact they are just very happy to have the women take the bullets meant for them. These cowards love to shoot up some authority figures, but these are not allowed to shoot at them. That hurts and could get the killed!

MoveOn: Of course the left Reich was right again and explained it all splendidly. As an foreigner I could sign the petition too and I did because this way of thinking is making its way across the Atlantic and the Dutch government wants to return some of the extra money, they got through a stroke of luck, back to the higher income groups by giving them a break this year. It brings tears to my eyes that Labour agreed with this.

Crooks and Liars: This is so confusing, because it isn't Driehaus that is taking this to SCOTUS, because the advertisement was already shown to be a lie, but The SBA List (or should we say the GOP and the 1%) have taken it further because "They really want the United States Supreme Court to rule that lies are protected speech under the First Amendment."
As Crooks and Liars correctly point out, a ruling in favour of this this will not only further corrupt an already corrupt political campaign system, but it will give advertisers the opportunity to say whatever they like. And of course this will have further legal repercussions. So we can expect SCOTUS to rule in favour of lying as your god-given right. Do they have any idea what they are doing to the country?

If a political as tells an outright lie about an opponent, common sense say that would be slander and therefore illegal.

Happy Birthday, Lynn

3:15 - Applause to you TC for managing that puzzle so quickly.

Robert Reich has done a service with these short but excellent little videos. One need not be an expert to fully understand the single topic.

Rouge Federal Officers? I think the rouges are clearly defined by their defiance of of the laws of the land. Have your wives shot? You cowardly bastards.
The BLM has in the past allowed some ranchers to use Federal land for grazing. When the BLM retracts that courtesy, remove your live stock. There are no squatters rights. Arrest Bundy and should Mack and his rag-tag gang of thugs want to show up in arms again, the National Guard an the FBI know what to do.

News Flash - abortion is legal. These hypocrites using the abortion issue, but what about that child after they are no longer in the womb. Easy - then the child becomes a taker and is fodder for the right wing crazy machine. Pro-life is not how to label an issue, if these people were pro-life that implies that they would also be against war, they are not. Abortion is a deeply personal decision that should not be manipulated and used as a political tool. Learn to mind your own business.

The Bay of Pigs, what a disaster and a major turning point for JFK and how he saw those who were suppose to be well informed advisors.

Thanks TC - great combination of articles.

Happy Birthday, Lynn!!!

I'm still laughing at the best days to get rid of Republicans ~ it works for me!

I'm with Robert - lie outright about somebody, it's slander - where are the lawsuits? It's easy to feel anger with the liars, not so easy to sympathize with those who don't fight back.

Why are people so intent on telling other people how to live? Kit said it all on the abortion issue - mind your own business, you annoying hypocrites. Or in Tom's language, you "nothing but a bunch of gun-toting, wimpy-ass loud mouths". Not sure how you get me riled and make me laugh at the same time, Tom, but you do....

Have a Wonderful and Happy Birthday, Lynn.!!

Daily Kos: What a pathetic jerk.!! Hiding behind women's skirts?? I agree with Gloria & Kit, throw the 'B' in prison.

Move On: Good video. Depressing, for our poor, and middle class, (getting poorer every year!). I think I signed the petition before, but I did again.

Cartoon: The Bay of Pigs was a botched invasion attempt by the US on Cuba. To this day, relations are strained. As a young girl, I remember my dad lamenting about the Cuban cigar embargo more than anything. And yes, Lynn I remember the drills.

Relax, and cat nap. That's my motto. Do take good care, have a fun day, and Thanks, Tom.

Take naps. I have to when I can as my 7 month old kitten Timothy is waking me up at 4:30 and 5:30 am.
Happy Easter too.

5:55 Am I seeing it wrong or did someone actually paint wrought iron light caramel?

Daily Kos - and children. Kind of gives a new connotation to the term "Women and children first," doesn't it? (What kind of women would blithely run out in front of their "men" in a situation like this? It boggles the mind.) It also boggles the mind that Fox admitted this. What kind of spin did they put on tnis? The clip isn't long enough to show.

Move On - Already signed the petition. I used to be in favor of the mortgage interest deduction, which was designed to help the middle class achieve the American Dream. However, in order to deduct mortgage interest, one must file Schedule A, which means forfeiting the standard deduction. Between that, and not being able to deduct medical expenses unless they exceed a certain percentage of your income, and a few other hoops, you would have to be buying a very pricey home indeed and/or paying a very high interest rate to benefit from the mortgage interest deduction. Sure, it makes filing easier to just take the standard deduction, but then how are we helping the middle class? Lots of reforms needed, not just tax brackets. I wish we could get Reich back into the Cabinet. Krugman would also be a shining asset to the Cabinet.

Crooks and Liars - Hey, if Fox News can legally lie in news reporting, which is supposed to be factual, why shouldn't SCROTUS allow lying in political ads, which anyone in their right mind doesn't believe anyway? Caveat emptor! (Note: some sarcasm may be present in this paragraph.)

Cartoon - I am five years older than Patty, and I remember the drills, though not in 1961 - I remember from grade school.

Hi TC. take a break,Just a little comment from Moi.
I am an 80y.o. retiree, existing on s.s. and my hospital pension (I worked in health Care 40+years. (No takers here!)I pay sales tax, vehicle tax,gas tax, state taxes, road tax and income tax.. and I PAY!.
Tell the freeloading "TAKER" Cliiven Bundy to stop his John Wayne act and pay his damned bills.
or surrender his livestock to the BLM in order that they can be sold and the $,s used to pay ,at least, part of the millions that he owes. ( what coward ,putting women on the front line) I find the support from Faux News appalling,.with Hannity supporting and offering encouragement. (to break the law.)
Let us hope that violence does not ensue.

What an apt historical comparison with your chosen news of the day TC--with The Bay of Pigs we came very, very near major disaster for our country with huge potential for loss of lives and the stories you chose to illuminate carry similar potential consequences for all of us.

Cliven Bundy says he "doesn't recognize the American government"--yet flies the American flag. (Hypocritical much, Bundy?)

Yells, “You disarm those Park Service people!” (He obviously doesn’t represent the NRA.) Refusing, I'm sure, to give up any firearms he may have. (Further remarks deleted due to excessive swearing.)

The people like him in Nevada, saying that land they never held title to, never paid for, is theirs—while here in Nebraska, lawmakers passed a law that says that land that you DO have title to, land that you (or your parents/grandparents/greatgrandparents/etc) HAVE paid for, can be taken away for the profit of TransCanada . . . The phrase "robber baron" comes irresistably to mind.

The man who is stealing public land from the people of America needs to be in jail for theft. Squatters aren't looked at favorably anymore and who the heck does he think he is that he can use public land for free, using it as a feed lot for his personal cattle that only he will see any kind of returns from? Anyone who supports this kind of theft should be put in jail with him. He is just like the other business people who think they should be able to use this country for their own gains but not have to pay anything for that use.

Daily Kos: I read the article, couldn't get sound on the video. these people are insane. They are nothing more than terrorists. Why is Mack still allowed to walk freely in this country, he seems to be an imminent threat to me.

Move On: I signed the petition and shared it on FAcebook.

Crooks and Liars: I think we all know that SCROTUS will side with the liars, they are the ones with the money.

Hope you are rested, TC.

Lynn, I hope you had a great day.

Unless I am seriously mistaken not a single Court in the USA has ever ruled that Truth in Advertising applies to political speech of any kind. While it is true that politicians are selling themselves and a bill of goods to get elected every court has ruled that Truth in Advertising is applicable only to Commercial Speech but not to anything at all in politics. So why would any one expect SCOTUS to rule differently/ And to be quite honest the problem is not the lies it is the fact that when it comes to being informed voters Americans are a bunch of lazy bastards, who would rather watch every f'ing minuet of dumb ass Televised Competition and vote like their lives depended on the out come but when it actually comes voting they would rather sit with one thumb up their butts and the other on the remote.

Lynn – as Dr Hammond said years ago (helping me more than any other doctor as I was so sick with untreated hypothyroid that I couldn't think straight) – to avoid most bugs never ever touch your eyes, nose or mouth unless you have just washed your hands – ditto for eating of course. That way contagious viruses don't come near you – he saved me from so many bugs, God bless him! On the other hand you may have to view it that this nasty virus does at least have the effect that you will be more resistant to its cousins in future – so your immune systems should be more robust!

Love Lynn's birthday card at the top – well done TC!

Daily Kos – can that horrible apology for a man not realise that putting women (and why not children too – he seems deranged enough!) in front of armed men to be shot at (as he predicts most gleefully) is using them as a human shield – and is cowardly, evil and so despicable he should have realised it himself, the pathetic paramecium!

Move on – Robert Reich is a marvel, may blessings be heaped upon him! A clear explanation that anyone could understand – well, you'd hope the Right Wingers could understand it and vote against the Repuglicans wanting to reduce taxes on the obscenely rich – I can dream!
