I wish it were hot in Chicago. It was so cold and windy I had to stay in to finish unpacking the last four boxes. What will my friends who live with unpacked boxes for months and years think of me?

Pelgonium Vitifolium puzzle time; 7:01.

There was an affluent gay couple down the street who adopted two baby boys. Over the years I watched those kids grow into very happy and nice gentlemen.

I don't care too much about showing ID at the polls but I know better. I was an election judge. Your signature is in the binder and that is supposed to be your election ID.

I am going to share the cartoon on FB. The conservatives hate it when you point out that Nazi Germany was conservative.

Upworthy – I think it matters a million times more that parents are loving, caring, consistent and reliable, who enable children to grow into confident loving adults who care for others as well as themselves, rather than obsessing about the sexual orientation of the parents. Have the Repuglicons not realised that every gay person so far has been brought up in heterosexual households – yet they aren't heterosexual, so how would being brought up by gay people make you gay? I know a lot of adults who were abused as children in (technically ordinary to the outward gaze) heterosexual households who would have preferred a million times more to have been brought up in a loving caring household no matter the sexual orientation of the parents rather than their own.

Sandi Toksvig (actress and broadcaster in UK) repeated one of her son's remarks to another child who asked what it was like having two mums – and he said "It's wonderful – even if one is ill, there's always another to do for you…"(!) – children are soooo practical!

God bless U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman in Milwaukee – may the judgement not be over-ruled!

Cartoon – you are right TC, they probably worship Hitler in private!

New Yorker - LOL! Mother Jones has a "Which Donald Said It" quiz. I got 70%. only slightly better than chance. I admit I can tell Republicans from Democrats most of the time, but I can't tell Republicans apart.

Upworthy - Yes. delightful kids indeed. They are so happy, and so comfortable in their own skins. Not something one can say about GOP kids with protest signs. I hope that one kid doesn't really grow up to be a mad scientist, though. I wouldn't put it past him to bring back dinosaurs!

Daily Kos - "(Judge Adelman) added that anyone committing voter impersonation would be "insane" because the penalties for such an act (a large fine and up to 3 years in prison) would pale in comparison to the casting of a single ballot." Well, that settles that. Insane is what Republicans do.

Cartoon - Yes, and no doubt Hans Sachs, and all the other medieval German craftsman who built trade guilds which protected the craftsmen, but also worked to protect the consumer by requiring competence from the craftsman, was spinning like a top in his grave.

Temperatures in the 80s at the very beginning of May? I thought you were living in moderate climes, TomCat. Good thing you moved. I'm with you on your feline logic: if umbrellas are against the rain, air conditioners must be against high temperatures, so you've guaranteed yourself some cold weather by ordering an AC.

The New Yorker: I think my newspaper had an item with the headline that Oprah wants to buy the Los Angeles Clippers. That would leave this Donald apoplectic, I guess the reason Oprah is suggesting it or implied.

Upworthy: So lovely to see kids who are happy with their lives and their family. One-parent family, gay-parent family, in the end it all doesn't matter as long as the kids are loved and know they are loved and cared for. So what if your little sister is a little bit annoying, you can still have the ambition to have about ten professions when you grow up. The world is their oyster and that's how it should be, no matter where they come from, what families they come from or what their parent(s) vote(s).

Daily Kos: Three cheers for District Judge Lynn Adelman for doing the only right thing: calling the new voter suppression law unconstitutional AND issuing an injunction barring the law from being enforced.
Now keep your fingers crossed that the judge(s) of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals do(es) the same thing or reserve judgment until after the election.

Cartoon: And that is why some of what's happening in the US lately has an eerie feeling of familiarity.

Hitler and grampa Bush; grampa Koch and Stalin, GOPigs and "Right to work," bullshit! Ge, do we have a pattern here?
Judge Adelman seems to have some belief in doing what is correct, rather than only what is "Right!"

Time - 3: 45

Our temperatures here have been unseasonably erratic, from a few hours of 90 to unexpectedly very cold mornings. Maybe we are finally looking around seeing not our shadow but the reality of a climatic change we have spent 40 years ignoring.

Andy is of course excellent. Gee, what's an honest racist to do?

Families have never all the same, I wonder where the idea of all families being alike first originated? Right now many are openly talking about the "gay family". That family has been around for years, as Lynn said she was able to watch the boys grow up. Families like humans come in all colors, religions and sexual orientation. The result for the children is totally determined by stability and love within each family.

Ding-ding the witches are being knocked off their brooms as more courts are asked to review state policies that attempt to block certain voters. Wisconsin and Arkansas both are being sent back to drawing board to come up with new voter requirements that do not attempt to block poor people, immigrants and senior citizens from voting.

Thanks TC - get that A/C unit and be ready for the summer.

Andy is funny - I have a dear black friend who doesn't think Sterling should lose his team - my friend says the comments were made in private and Sterling is not the only one to think like that. Obviously, my friend is much more spiritually advanced than the man he is defending. (spam flagged)

Upworthy: I love talking to children, this is so heartwarming to view. (Passing this on as well). Great video.!!
It's supposed to be hot here, with high 80's and 90 degrees tomorrow...I think summer is right around the corner here in TX.

Let adults do what they want, as long as there is agreement on both sides.
My hesitation comes in regards to children in the relationship.
Every once in a while, when he isn't promoting himself, his wife, or his kids, something comes out of the mouth of Dr. Phil. Please, I know, he isn't my favorite, either.
He said: 'Women can best teach girls how to be women, and men can best teach boys how to be men'.
Not being a psychologist, I can't say how true it is, but, it appears to make sense to me.
Of course, there are other factors, such as close friends who could contribute to the childl's upbringing. It's just that we are living in a very complicated world and we have no one to thank but ourselves.

Thanks to all, but the damn Republican SPAMMER.

Arielle, when someone is a high profile public figure they have an added responsibility to keep their hatred out of their public life. Sterling has a right to privacy, but he flailed to keep his privacy private.

Charlene3, single mothers must face the same problem too. A responsible parent will provide sufficient contact with adults of the missing gender.

Kudos to Judge Adelman for striking
down this unconstitutional poll tax.
