Glass flower puzzle time; 4:05.

The little girl should have been in public school from the beginning. Sending a smart little girl to her to a parochial school is too stifling.

When they look for a "motive" for finding a terrorist they are the terrorists!

I am particularly fond of Jon Stewart's depiction of Johnny Rotten Judgement (McC) – he has done so much harm and must bear the blame of history for bringing $$arah Palin to the fore and helping the TP – I for one will never forgive him for that. Either he has an even greater dose of the Right Wing's denial of their own deeds, as he keeps criticising the President and others for things he has called on them to do, or he is slowly dwindling into Altzheimers…. sorry to say it, but I can't think of any other reasons for his constant switches when the record shows him to be frequently contradicting himself.

The real sin for that religious "school" is in suffocating the girl's spirit ~ I was a tomboy and would still rather do a few guy things than get my hair done or try on shoes. Part of life IS having a lot of different experiences and those numbnuts who want to start boxing in experiences at such a young life are beyond annoying. It all makes me angry so I'll jump to Jon Stewart who really knows how to zing a few dorks right where they need zinged.
But then the truly stupid - which includes Faux News and all Republican politicians - make me angry again so I'll just wish them all what they deserve and move on....

Upworthy: So glad that this little girl moved to a different school. No one should have to endure bigotry and bias growing up in the name of religion. Smart move, GGma, you are doing a great job raising Sunny.
Daily Kos: Jon is so good at this, speaks the truth, in a humorous way showing the insanity of the GOP. Love his show.
Cartoon: From 1955 until 2005, the AFL–CIO's member unions represented nearly all unionized workers in the United States. The largest union currently in the AFL–CIO is the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), with more than 1.6 million members. Wiki.
First, let me toot the horn at your day 60. Congratulations.!! Glad that you are feeling better, and do hope that you have a wonderful Friday. Enjoy your day, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

I love this little girls grandmother, who loves her grandchild no matter what. If this little girl is homosexual, so be it. Obviously it is NOT a decision, its just the way a person is hard-wired. Makes me wonder what the administrators in that rigid Baptist school would do if one of their girls was a tom boy or perhaps one of their boys liked to play with dolls?

McCain is a nut case, that's why he thought Silly Sarah was so wonderful. Gads, I still can hear that screechy voice of hers when I type her name. Somehow because McCain was a POW the GOP and others look to him to be the right answer to anything to do with war. How does the fact he was a POW make him the authority on any war? I do believe he is showing the beginnings of dementia.

the only thing "queer" here is the zeolousness with which adults want to force their views/opinions on others....McCain is a nut, thank someone he was never President...wrong on almost everything......

4:18 Unusually straightforward for JigZone.

Upworthy - Unfortunately there will always be people who choose to believe that people choose to be LGBT, just as there will always be people who choose to believe that people choose to be alcoholic. Yes, I am saying that Rick Perry's comparison would have been a good one if he had known what he was talking about. A sober alcoholic is still an alcoholic. A celibate LGBT is still an LGBT, even though he or she may or may not choose to conform to societal standards of dress. I think it's a pity that people who think LGBT is a choice are allowed to breed, myself.

Daily Kos - Jon was very accurate. But that was predictable. Accuracy is what he does. What wasn't predictable was that Megyn Kelly and Glenn Beck would as much as come within a stone's throw of accuracy.
Megyn Kelly
Glenn Beck
Apparently pigs do fly.

TPM - It is getting to that point, isn't it? (Your example would also constitute a savage attack on American agriculture and business, such as Monstersanto, designed to destroy our economy and starve all of us.)

Cartoon - We do indeed owe to unions everything we have. So, naturally, Republicans are doing their best to destroy them, with way too much success.

Congrats on your 60th day, TomCat. And thank you for this very interesting assortment of articles. Good start of the weekend!

Upworthy: The story about the treatment of this girl and her grandmother has been circulating here for a while, but it was very interesting to see them both in the flesh. Just your ordinary tomboy with a big heart and a caring grandmother. The letter of the private school was preposterous and thankfully the grandmother far from stupid so she put her granddaughter in a public school. But no doubt both parties gave a sigh of relief, the school for having gotten away with their bigoted stance without major damage.

Daily Kos: I can't see John Stewart's videos any more, thee network has found an effective way to block Proxmate, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the scripted version.I especially relished the word joke on McCain's knowledge: "His sophisticated knowledge of the region, unparalleled. In that it did not parallel with anybody who had knowledge of the region." ROTFLMAO. Besides extremely funny, Stewart is also absolutely right. Trouble is that that still doesn't keep this man from shooting his mouth off over Iraq, straight into his foot.

TPM: The level at which the GOP and Fox News are playing politics has sunk to that of kindergarten. These new conspiracies they think up to spin things their way would shame a 6-year old. You are so right, TomCat it's all about how it "undermine their rahts and freedumbs." , those of toddlers, that is.

"If Barack Obama finds that corn is an ingredient of his corn flakes, Republicans will proclaim, and Faux Noise will broadcast that it’s a socialist Kenyan conspiracy designed to undermine their rahts and freedumbs."

If Barack Obama found a cure for cancer, Republicans and Fox News would report that Obama was responsible for increased unemployment for doctors.

Glad the cartoon was worth celebrating among the illogical series of other content. Gender is a continuum with none of us being pure any one thing and thus labels can be dangerous to appropriate identity and self-esteem.

If one can be said to be known by taking into account who his/her enemies are, Obama is up for sainthood!

Puzzle — 3:09 Don't worry about cleaning the glass . . . I busted it!

Upworthy — Patty, were we twins? I was a tomboy all the way, short hair and all except when my mother decided to make me look more like a girl . . . with a perm! I played hockey, softball, soccer, football etc all with boys. I was teased once by Gordie Prouse who tackled me in football and damn near broke my foot (he was about 250 pounds in grade 8 and not tall at all). He said girls did not belong playing football. Now in my 60s, I am not a ball player at all. Let kids be kids. This girl seems well adjusted. Some school . . . a faux Christian school.

Daily Kos — Canucks can pick up the programme on http://www.thecomedynetwork.ca

Stewart is always a hoot! I think my favourite part was when McCain was showing just how inane he is with the following: "SEN. JOHN McCAIN, R-AZ (4/19/2007): You know that old Beach Boys song "Bomb Iran"? Hehe. "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb bomb…" hehehe. Anyway." If I were McCain, I'd be very embarrassed. Recommendation to McCain: Crawl back under your rock and stay there!

TPM — You know, it is sad to say but nothing these Republlicanus/Teabaggers say surprises me anymore. They are masters of distraction and inanity. I don't think there is an honest bone amongst them all.

Cartoon — Founded in 1955 to give workers a voice. I have said before that IMO unions were no longer needed. With the industrial revolution, unions brought so many things including safety, benefits, reasonable working hours and conditions and more. However I was wrong. After seeing what is going on with the McDonald's, the WalFarts, etc etc, unions are needed more than ever.

I spent my first 8 years in Catholic school. To this day, I have nightmares about it.

When my son was young we sent him to Catholic school. After the first year, he said, 'Mother I do not want to go back there ever again'. He was so adamant in his request, that we moved him to public school.

In fact, he became an atheist before I did.
