When I reported on the passage of RepubliCare yesterday, I could only guess at the Ramifications. A day later we’re learning what is actually in there. The more we learn, the more horrific it becomes, and few people are better at digging out the dirt than Rachel Maddow.

Well, the law is certainly very well described by Rachel, and her guest backs that up in spades. I think I have found the Republican attitude in response, though:

Thanks Tom for the post.
Rachel made all the great points. I doubt the bill in it's present form will survive. I hope the Dems in the Senate grow a back bone push hard for a much better bill.

Bloodsucking coldblooded B's! #4: I'm older, so will get charged 5x as much as they charge younger people for the same health insurance. #7: Medicaid cuts, we're screwed big time.
On the same note, schools will lose Medicaid for the Sp.Ed. kids, where most of those students with disabilities, get care under this program, (Medicaid), and it will be nixed. What will happen to those children??! And those that assist these children?

NO, I must disagree with your interpretation about the intent of the bill. I believe the intent of the bill is no more, nor less, than that "Redistribution" of the billions. Period! This is a process thatNixon kind of started, but that Ronald ("You can have it all!) Reagan, put into very high gear! What they do, as the Republicans have done for so long, at least back to Reaganhole, is take from those who have the least perceived political clout…particularly the poor! A possible seondary intent might be to CONTINUE to wear away anything that remotely smells of the New Deal, a process that generations, now, of conservatives have assiduously worked for. Recall that some of the money they can funnel up the ladder, they can expect to get back in election donations, and, with Citizens United in their pockets, these can be huge donations!

It seems to get worse and worse. They really don't care about the elderly, disabled, and poor. I'm actually surprised they don't just come right out and say it. Thanks for the post, TomCat.

It's even worse than I thought, even though my expectations were extremely low. It's shocking and Draconian, there are no other words for it and instead of just voting for it the Republicans who voted "yes", without even having read it, should have been made to sign the damn bill in their own blood, so posterity will remember them for what they did.

I won't go into all of the points Rachel put forward, just the one that nearly broke the jaw of this European: #5 Big companies no longer have to provide health insurance to their employees. In the EU it is strictly forbidden for a government to subsidize or favor any of their companies so that they have an unfair advantage over others in that country or in the EU. And here the Republicans have voted for a bill that allows some companies, the LARGE companies who have their lobbyist's hands up the backs of their Republican puppets, to do away with health care insurance for their employees, giving them an even greater cost-advantage over the the little companies than they already had, at the cost of their own employees. Dare I ask if such a provision is even constitutional?

Not only does this Trumpcare bill give the 1% individuals disgustingly high tax breaks, it also gives (only) large companies a break from healthcare costs and a way to maximize their profits, and thereby another unfair advantage over smaller companies. Is there anyone still not convinced America is a plutocracy?

What a piece of crap legislation!!!

Politicians are elected to SERVE the people.  Republicans are clearly only $ERVING themselves!

Every last Republican needs to be kicked to the curb at the soonest possible time.
Resist and Persist!!!

Rachel has become mandatory viewing in our house – she is the one who keeps the focus on trump and Russia and is not afraid to point out everything we need to know. She can say a lot with a look, an eyebrow raise, or a laugh and I'm sure trump hates her.

This bill is a war against women, the poor, the old, the sick…but hey, erectile disfunction is covered. The ray of hope is that anti-trump groups got HUGE donations within an hour after the vote. And people are getting very creative in finding ways to reach their representatives – billboards, newspaper ads, even milk cartons with "have you seen my congressman?" Anyone who doesn't respond to the people they work for needs to become unemployed….

The Medicaid cut is 25% of total allocated for Medicaid. Medicaid is primary payer for nursing home care in this country. The most expensive condition to have is Alzheimers. CA has 25% of those who got covered under ACA and knows what a disaster high risk pools are from our efforts pre-ACA to give coverage to persons with disabilities not covered due to preexisting (e.g., born with it).

They estimated 24,000.000 thrown off of healthcare because of getting rid of expanded Medicaid and the ACA but to allow employers to get out of paying healthcare for their employees will mean many more people will lose their healthcare then they thought. I have a severely disabled Granddaughter who goes to a special school so she may be affected as well. They told people they were going to give them something better and they claimed we had good health care before the Dems messed with it but they are destroying all healthcare. This is lower then low. People that heartless must have sold their sole to the devil. On Tomcats earlier post on Republicare I posted a rewrite of the song Na Na Hey hey Goodbye. Not that I think this is funny because its not but we might as well have some fun with the resistance while spoiling their fun which they obviously thought it was by their smiles and celebration.

you know one thing I read today about this bill is that the house exempted themselves from this. In our campaign to get the Senate to fix it or kill it altogether we should insist loudly and strongly that whatever they pass for us it must be their healthcare too. They cannot exempt themselves from it they have to have the same healthcare they makes us live with. Ill bet it would not be so bad if they had to have it too. I'm sure they have what some legislators referred to as cadillac Healthcare plans back when the ACA was being debated in President Obamas first term.

Good evening and thank you for this article - which I read and noted- I watch RACHEL every night - she explains all of this political stuff so we all can understand it and learn what we can do- to stand up- speak out- speak up- to fight back- resist- persist- insist- demand- demonstrate - march- protest- all with non violent means- write letters- make phone calls- go to their offices- attend town halls- WHAT EVER THEY FINALLY DECIDE ON FOR US ON HEALTH CARE- THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO USE THE SAME INSURANCE- THEN WE WOULD THE BEST INSURANCE POLICY AND COVERAGE EVER --- WE COULD AFFORD TO COVER EVERYONE -IF THEY WOULD TAKE THAT TRILLION DOLLAR TAX GIFT TO THE 1% ULTRA RICH AND USE THAT TO COVER POOR AND MIDDLE CLASS AMERICAN CITIZENS-so no one dies to to lack of care---sincerely KAY M.
