Ethics....Don't leave home without them. And if you work make sure you exercise them at the workplace. Wonderful piece. After I'm finished working on own ethics, I will see if Monsanto wants to shape up........naaaaaawwww.....maybe I had better ask them to do that before I'm finished. I will always be a 'work in progress'.

Thanks Madartist. Well, I think the commentary is a good one for several reasons.
First, to be successful, any group or community depends on people having shared goals and some shared rewards, that exist in some framework of approved behaviors.
Second, human behavior consists (for adults, certainly) of habits, usually deeply ingrained habits. It is, cognitively speaking, as easy to form good habits as bad ones. If our parents teach us good behavior and honesty and integrity, and reinforce that, and it is further reinforced as we go off to school and activities, and it is further reinforced and supported as we grow into puberty and young adulthood, and it is consistently reinforced as we become adults and age - then we have good strong habits around behaving with compassion, integrity, concern and consideration, deliberation and fairness. If not, then that's a problem for all of society because we all pay the bills for shoplifters, drunk drivers and all the people in prisons. Teaching our children right from wrong, being very good and consistent role models for good and honest and considerate behavior - these are good investments. But we have to decide to do that, and then get it done. People forget, become a little lazy, cut a few corners, and role model bad choices. It's good for all of us to be reminded of the consequences of those things - to be reminded to be on our best behavior and to actually demonstrate the behaviors we think we do.
As to the definitions of the words, people tend, in casual speech, to use the word moral and the word ethical somewhat interchangeably. And it turns out that the definitions do overlap (see definitions and URL below). So, I wouldn't reject the author's message on that basis. I would add to his message that it's good to form and reinforce and practice good habits, so that we're role modeling them for others as well.

true.
But all is well with what was said, IF the sentence "Well, it started out as a geart article/commentary until the author proved himself to be a cmplete idiot." was omitted. Lloyd has a right to his opinion, that is fine.
Name calling is NOT!

JennyLynn ~ You beat me to it. Yes, ethics and morals overlap and can be interchanged, depending on usage. As you so well quoted from the dictionary: "Ethics (used with a singular or plural verb) is a system of moral principles: the ethics of a culture." This is Josephson's playground and he knows what he is talking about. I know I'm repeating what you have stated, but I want to stress it so your post is not missed.

Jacki ~ Thanks for the tip about Facebook. Josephson is also on Twitter.
