ENGLISH

The Animal Rights and Animal Protection community in Mexico is dismayed by the act of brutal abuse and violation of all individual and human rights against Javier Cervantes −a humanitarian activist− and his sheltered animals that was perpetrated by an anonymous group of neighbors under the tacit approval of the authorities of both the municipality of Jaltenco and the State of Mexico.

Javier provided temporary shelter to almost 80 street dogs and cats −all of them spayed and vaccinated−, so his infuriated neighbors had demanded him to leave his house immediately or they would kill his animals. He was therefore looking for a new place to live, and a few days before the sanguinary attack he had indeed obtained financial support to build a surrounding wall that would keep his dogs and cats safe within a terrain that had been given to him for this purpose.

However, last February 23rd threatens against Javier were served: a group of hooded men burst into Javier’s dwelling and brutally killed with machetes, shotguns, and pipes a number of dogs and cats.

Héctor Jose Urdapilleta, a friend of Javier Cervantes, gave us a detailed account of the massacre:

“Javier phoned me to let me know that a neighbor of his had reached him and told him that some men were killing his dogs. I ran to Javier’s house and was received by men wearing black clothes, with ski masks covering their faces, with shotguns, machetes and pipes. I pleaded to them to stop beating and butchering the dogs. They asked me if I was the owner of the dogs, and I said no, that I am the friend of the owner. They started beating me with the pipes and, when I fell to the ground, kept kicking me. They told me I was in deep trouble, and then threw me where several of the dogs were agonizing. I was able to see Tomás, one of the older dogs, which was crying in agony due to the injuries it had received. I also saw another one of the dogs whose leg had just been cut by a machete, but she was still running trying to get away from her killers. “If this is what you want, this is what you will get”, one of the masked men told me, and then threw me over a pile of butchered animals. They heard me cry since there was nothing I could do to save these defenseless animals. I screamed, I begged, I called out to the neighbors who stood watching in silence. Outside, I could see the local police preventing anyone else from coming inside, doing nothing to stop the killings. The masked men took all the dead dogs and cats and threw them and me inside a van. They did not let me see where we were going. They used their boots to keep my head on the floor of the van, covered with the dogs’ blood. When I saw the State Police arrive I felt relieved, I thought I would be saved, but they did nothing. My wrists and legs were tied with duck tape and I was taken to a police station (MP), where they found no reason to lock me up. I was taken again to the van and dumped in an open field far away. I walked back from there, and although it is now 2 am, I am alive."

WE ASK THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY’S SUPPORT TO DEMAND THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MEXICO, ENRIQUE PEÑA NIETO, TO CONDEMN THIS ATROCIOUS ACTION AND FILE CHARGES AGAINST THOSE RESPONSIBLE OF AN UNBEARABLE AND INEXCUSABLE CRIME AGAINST TWO INNOCENT MEN AND A GROUP OF HELPLESS ANIMALS, SOME OF THEM OLD, BLIND, OR IN RECOVERY.

We know our country is gradually becoming a “town with no law,” but we will make every effort possible to get justice for the brutal death of those unfortunate animals, his traumatized caregiver −whose belongings were also smashed−, and Héctor’s heroic act of defense before a coward horde of masked murderers and an accomplice neighborhood.

Dear Sandra,
Friends animaleros,

First of all we thank all of you really responding to the peaceful demonstration was held at the esplanade of the socket on Saturday, February 28, 2009. Thanks for all the outpouring of support, thanks to all the volunteers who helped us to distribute flyers, sell shirts, hats to sell to collect signatures to mount the offering .... etc., in all truth a thousand, thousand thanks !

Thank you for not having fallen into false speculations ... Our movement was always peaceful and well maintained, however there were a few seconds of confusion that seemed all that we are there we met in various ways but always with the same slogan: " For an impending outrage, condemnation and sorrow at the death of heartbreaking and terrible still do not know how many dogs and cats. "

We are really excited for all the support received, then we will give a detailed report of the earnings and on that day and sought to discover a relationship that is being used. For now, I count that cash was collected:

$ 8018.80 (eight eighteen thousand pesos 00/100 MN), cash from sales and donations in canisters.

It also received 123 kilograms of dog croquetas (various brands) and 22 kilograms of croquetas cat.

20 dressings
15 syringes 3ml.
4 blankets
12 shirts
1 towel
1 shirt
3 pants.

Even accounting firms because they are still calling to sign .... but are indeed plenty of pages for the front and back .... flat whole people with his own hand reiterate our requests:

"FIRST: --

To request clarification of the slaughter in Jaltenco, State of Mexico, not yet identified a number of dogs and cats by several hooded men, that luxury of violence and not in any human sense entered the house to stop animals that were there.

SECOND .-

We also ask that once the facts are clarified, punish those responsible.

Because there was nevertheless a large number of animals rescued in a department of no more than 60 m2, this does not justify in any way the brutality and cruelty with which they were killed and slaughter, which his only mistake was being in a more large overpopulation of dogs and cats that exist in the State of Mexico. Problem solution that will be given only through campaigns of sterilization.

Events like the Jaltenco only show intolerance, violence and lack of humanity to which any living being can be exposed.

THIRD .-

We request an analysis and clarification of the involvement and participation of the Mayor and the judicial authorities of the Municipality of Jaltenco, State of Mexico, in fact.

FOURTH .-

We ask kindly, recognize the right of animals to be treated as living beings not as objects.

FIFTH .-

We ask you, create rules and effective sanctions and punitive to all the people and state authorities who mistreat animals, to maim, kill, injure, hurt, forget.

SEXTO .-

We request the creation of a corps of police that specialized attention to the complaints brought by mistreatment of animals.

SEVENTH .-

We ask for your support, to close the anti-State of Mexico and instead create permanent sterilization for dogs and cats, which have the material for medical and surgical care, as well as personnel properly qualified. "

Patricia explains to me: 4:53 AM

HOLA:
I tell you that was wonderful in the peaceful protest on Saturday, with Javier and removed their animals to relocate because it is that is very neglected, left alone all day, not serving well, not born with the medical and a number of things that led to the relocated with their consent.
)
Where possible everything is going very well.
Cariños

I sent an email. This was absolutely worse than heartless. Thank God the animals are at peace now, in a better place, I believe. I am so sorry for their caregiver to have to live with this, and his friend who had to witness and be beaten and traumatized as well. I am greatful for ALL the people who have peacefully protested this beyond gruesome massacre.
