Romanian woman among passengers

A Romanian woman was among the 228 people on board the Air France plane believed to have crashed in the Atlantic, according to press reports. The Foreign Ministry confirmed that a Romanian citizen was on board but did not provide further details. Realitatea TV quoted officials from the Romanian consulate in Paris as saying that the woman is named Violeta Bajenaru Declerck, 33, from Buzau. The Romanian woman was working in Paris, at Ecole Superieure du Bois, where she was head of the international relations department.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Alin Serbanescu said that he could not confirm the name of the Romanian person on board, as this kind of information is confidential. He said only that the person’s family had been notified.

Meanwhile, daily ‘Gandul’ reported yesterday that another Romanian woman was one step away from being one of the passengers on board the plane. Oana Vadeanu Spudeit and her ten-month old daughter escaped alive after canceling their flight to Paris from Rio in the last moment. The woman found a cheaper flight to Paris and canceled her Air France reservation.

That list of names makes it so real. I'm so very saddened by this. The families have to go through horrendous pain that is reinforced every time they watch the news or read the papers. May they have strength to cope.

The bomb threat against Air France sounds very serious . Could this be why the plane came down?

Very interesting list of passengers on this flight. and curious omissions from the list. Three executives of Michelin, a geologist , a coca cola executive and a representative from Krupps.
There is definitely something very foul and underhanded surrounding this plane crash. Think of HAARP!! Sadly the families of the victims may never know the truth. My prayers go out to them that they may have solace that heir loved ones did not die in vain. Peace in Our Quest for Truth

There was a British boy of 11 years old, this is sad, really.

Parents waved goodbye to British boy, 11, as they sent him back to boarding school alone on doomed Air France flight

2 Bodies Recovered From Air France 447 Crash

Search crews have recovered two bodies in the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday. The bodies were recovered about 40 miles from where the Air France aircraft last gave its position before disappearing on June 1, 2009. The Brazilian military has confirmed the findings, which appears to be the first physical evidence of the crash that killed all 228 on board.

The Brazilian air force also recovered a blue airplane seat, a briefcase, and a leather folder which contained an airplane ticket, an oxygen mask, and a backpack. Air France has confirmed that that the plane ticket did belong to a passenger on the jet. The blue airplane seat contained a serial number, which Brazilian officials have sent to Air France to confirm that the it did indeed come from the plane. The backpack that was recovered contained a laptop and a vaccination card.

The items were found 420 miles north of the Fernando de Noronha islands, 220 miles off the northeast coast of Brazil.

“When we started out we concentrated on finding survivors, but that was not possible,” Jorge Amaral, the assistant head of the Air Force’s Press Office told reporters in the northeastern city of Recife, according to the Brazilian Web site, ig.com. “Then we started looking for debris, survivors and bodies. But it is only today that we have had a positive, albeit sad, result. But that has brought us the certainty that our work was done properly.”

Also feared dead in Monday’s disaster is Scottish oil worker Graham Gardner, 52.

Briton Neil Warrior, 47, a PR executive with car giant Mazda who lived in Germany, was also returning from holiday with friends.

The fifth Briton is believed to be a woman from Wales who was travelling with three female Irish doctors. They were part of a group of former students from Dublin’s Trinity College.

One of them, Eithne Walls, 29, from Ballygowan, Northern Ireland, also starred in Riverdance. Her parents described her as “an extraordinary person who brought light to everyone she touched”.

READ THIS:

New details suggest that Air France Flight 447 struggled for 15 minutes before plunging into the Atlantic Ocean. Electronic data sent from the plane's automatic system indicate that pilots fought with difficult weather trying to keep the doomed plane in the air. It also now appears that strange debris found in the crash zone is not from Flight 447 at all.

The news of the heroic efforts of the Air France pilots and crew was released just one day after a memorial was held at Notre Dame in Paris to honor the dead. Air France confirmed that electronic data sent by the Airbus A330's computer showed that the plane was flying too slow and that two major computer's were malfunctioning in the moments before the crash.

These indicate that the pilot reported hitting tropical turbulence at 3am (BST), shortly before reaching Senegalese airspace. It said the plane had passed through tall, dense cumulonimbus thunderclouds.

At this stage, according to a source close to the investigation cited by Le Monde, the Airbus A330-200's speed was "erroneous" - either too fast or too slow. Each plane has an optimal speed when passing through difficult weather conditions, which for unknown reasons, had not been reached by flight AF 447.

Airbus is expected to issue recommendations today to all operators of the A330 model to maintain appropriate thrust levels to steady the plane's flight path in storms.

This new information from Air France came as Brazilian officials announced that the debris recovered from the crash zone is not from Flight 447. So far only strange debris, sea trash and other difficult to identify items have been pulled from the ocean. The debris originally believed to be from Flight 447 now appears to be from a sunken ship or different craft.

Up to now, no material from the plane has been recovered," Brigadier Ramon Cardoso, director of Brazilian air traffic control, told reporters in the north-eastern city of Recife.

He said items pulled from the ocean on Thursday and originally thought to come from downed Air France flight AF 477 actually came from another source, likely a ship.

He also said a big oil slick originally thought to come from the plane probably also came from a ship, though fuel slicks detected were likely from the jet because the fuel was of a type not used by seagoing vessels.

Earlier on Thursday, Cardoso had told reporters that navy ships 1000 kilometres off Brazil's shore had pulled aboard debris from the Air France plane that vanished on Monday, including a pallet from its cargo hold and two buoys.

But after inspection it was determined the pallet could not have come from the plane.

"We confirm that the pallet found is not part of the debris of the plane. It's a pallet that was in the area, but considered more to be trash," he said.
