PLEASE TAKE THIS PLEDGE!!

As I sat before the subcommittee members, I couldn't help but think about all the stories from cancer patients and survivors I've heard over the years – I wanted their voices to be heard!

I did my very best to impress upon the subcommittee the importance of these reforms.

But to truly drive the message home, our elected representatives need to hear the same message from you – the people they were elected to represent!

Help back up my testimony by telling your members of Congress that health care reform must include patient protections that will help cancer patients and survivors.

During my testimony, I emphasized the harsh realities cancer patients and survivors face when navigating our health care system and outlined exactly what was needed to help them:

Ensure access to affordable, high-quality insurance for all, including those with preexisting conditions;
Protect cancer patients from excessive out-of-pocket costs; and
Improve access to early detection services.
We've made great progress in the fight against cancer. As we observe the 25th anniversary of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we should celebrate the new discoveries, better screening and enhanced awareness that are turning millions of cancer patients into cancer survivors. Yet, we should remember the challenges that still lie before us – and the need for everyone to speak up and help make a difference.

Please, show your support for including valuable patient protections in the health reform bills by signing our petition urging Congress to "consider cancer" in health reform.

This is so very important. My Mother had breast cancer 2 different times so the doctors consider me high risk. I go for the "ow, ow, ow," mamogram every year. It is not a fun thing to go through but I feel breast cancer would be really a lot worse!

My best friend died of breast cancer 2 years ago. She was 62 and so full of life and joy. There is something about people who have or have gotten cancer they are so strong and brave it is admirable yet so sad.
Thanks Kat

reportedly

The total cost of illness for breast cancer
has been estimated at $3.8 billion,

of which $1.8 billion represents medical care.

Since treatment costs
are considerably lower
when a tumor is discovered at an early stage,
screening programs have economic value.

Breast examination can be performed by the woman herself
or by a health care professional. Screening can be accomplished
by self-examination or by a health care provider,
and by mammography, a process of taking x-rays of the breasts,
usually one from the side and one from above.

Mass screening using mammography
can improve early detection by 15 to 35 percent.

keep IN MIND THIS ONE___ 2001 PEOPLE!
WHAT KIND OF $$$ DOES VICTIMS OF CANCER BRING IN TO "WHERE"!!!
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=retrieve&db=pubmed&list_uids=12678566&dopt=AbstractPlus

For all cancers,
the total economic burden of this disease worldwide
was projected by the authors to be in the range of
$US 300-400 billion in 2001
(about $US 100-140 billion as direct costs
and the remainder as indirect costs [morbidity and mortality]).

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH),
the total cost of cancer was estimated
at $US 156.7 billion in 2001 in US
($US 56.4 billion as direct costs,
$US 15.6 as indirect morbidity costs,
and $US 84.7 billion as indirect mortality costs).

Based on limited information,
in the US, breast cancer
can be projected to account for about one-fifth/one-fourth
of the total cost of cancer.

Breast cancer treatment costs are higher in the US
than in other developed countries.

Both direct and indirect costs
are dependent on disease stage.

The per-patient costs for initial care in 1992
were estimated at $US 10 813, f
or continuing care at $US 1084 and for terminal care at $US 17 886.

Stage-specific costs provide information for cost-effectiveness analyses
of cancer-control initiatives, such as screening programmes.

Economic studies on breast cancer are heterogeneous,
and the cost estimates made are not easily generalisable.

The cost of treatment for breast cancer in developing countries
is < or =5% of that in developed regions.

=============

WOMEN...CARE ABOUT WHAT IS TRULY THIS "CANCER"!

HOW HAS IT COME INTO EXISTENCE?
WHY IS IT THAT IN THE YEAR 2009... NO CURE???
NONE!

ONLY MORE HYPE... MORE HOAX... MORE SUFFERING BY FEMALES... !!!

ALOT OF MONEY... GOING SOMEWHERE $$$
AND LIVES OF THE FEMALE POPULATION

BTW
THE SAME LIVES THAT THE USA
FOR ONE
DOES NOT PROTECT AGAINST THE CRIMINAL heterosexual male ELEMENT!
AS VICTIM AFTER VICTIM OF RAPE CONTINUES TO CRY OUT!
AND THE TARGETED VICTIMS CRYING OUT ARE THE FEMALES AMONG us.

WHY AREN't THE heterosexual male USA PREDATORS CHASED DOWN?
LIKE A WAR ON TERRORISTS!
IS TERRORISM TO RAPE!!!

JUST A THOUGHT I WOULD ASK YOU LADIES TO THINK ON.

IT IS OWED TO us WOMEN... TO OUR LOVED ONES
"NO TOLERANCE OF RAPE! NO TOLERANCE OF RAPISTS!!!"
PROTECT THE VICTIMS.
BTW THE VICTIMS ARE PREDOMINANTLY THE FEMALE PEOPLE WOMEN!!!

*sighs*

TRUTH...ALWAYS WINS.
LIKE LOVE.

Did you happen to tell Congress about your cozy relationship with Astra-Zeneca, or the stock your foundation owns in pharmaceutical companies or GE, the world's largest manufacturer of mammogram machines? Did you explain why you continue to ignore toxins and environmental factors and continue to promote screeings and mammograms as the best way to beat cancer? Or why your foundation continues to support research into the same tried and failed methods of surgery, chemo and radiation - which do nothing to address the root causes and seldom completely eliminate cancer and keep it at bay for a normal lifespan?

October should be called Breast Cancer Deception Month, given the cozy relationships between the foundations and charities and those who not only profit from cancer but also those who contribute to causing it.. How about more emphasis on the relationship of environmental toxins and looking outside the mainstream box of surgery, chemo and radiation that has largely failed us for 4 decades since the War on Cancer was declared? And how about a little honesty about who actually started Breast Cancer Awareness Month and how it has misdirected people away from true prevention while covering for the profiteers and villians?

For a revealing look at what Breast Cancer Awareness is really about, see: 'Breast Cancer Deception Month – Hiding the Truth beneath a Sea of Pink' (http://www.tbyil.com/breast-cancer-deception.htm)

Hmmmm, obviously you're a man, and don't have boobies, Tony....and I truly resent your comments, as I have a sister in Stage 4 cancer and she, as well as millions of other women, DO benefit from whatever advances are made in fighting for the cause. If only you could tie a scarf around your head for a few days, I don't think you'd be typing what you just did....(nor would your mother, wife, sister, daughter, nieces....etc.)

Peace Love Earth, I suggest you read the article I referred to before jumping to conclusions.

Yes, I am a man and no I do not have boobies (although as a man, I do admit to a certain affinity for them). As it so happens, I am also a natural health author, advocate and researcher. Besides being the forum moderator for Cancer Alternatives at CureZone, I also host a Yahoo group (oleandersoup) centered around cancer that has over 1600 members and has been around over 5 years now. A great many of those members do indeed have boobies.

FYI, the natural anti-cancer protocol I recommend has been well over 90% successful and that includes over 80% successful for people with stage 3 and stage 4 cancers after mainstream medicine and all of its so-called advances have failed them.

I beliieve very much in the cause. I just find it abhorrent the way that so many major players have used the cause to profit from cancer while covering up their roles in causing it. Again, read the article!

Mammograms squeeze the breasts so much that it potentially can harm the cells. I know it because after my baseline mammogram my breasts hurt for weeks, and I couldn't sleep for a couple of nights. That plus the effect of the x-ray radiation, is a double reason to stay away from this deceptive method.
Thermography or thermal imaging (infrared imaging) is a much safer, accurate, and painless method. Cancer cells give off more heat, therefore it's easy to "see" what area/s of the body are should be looked into.
People, in general, accept too easily what the so-called experts tell them to do, without educating themselves and taking responsibility for their health.

Tony, I'm so sorry...and I don't want this to sound insulting, because it's being commented about with respect to your profession, BUT...not a thing you said do I believe. I have nothing at all to do with doctors OR pharmacy ompanies, but I do not believe in natural anti-cancer protocol either. I guess if I had it, I might think twice, but I will remain a "doubting Thomasina" until then.

Thanks for jumping in about your thoughts....and I certainly welcome ALL opinions here. Besides, who wants to watch yourself type all day? :)

Ms. R.S. I understand what you are saying, and I truly sympathize with any pain you may have had. I have never had any of the discomfort even some of my sisters say they have had. It's nothing compared to childbirth (C-secion for me), or a PAP smear, so I gladly suggest it for safety's sake.

I'm not sure about most women, but there are very few health insurance companies that will pay for thermography or thermal imaging UNLESS they see something unusual in your mammogram. Of course, you can pay for it yourself, but in a recession with the highest people laid off in 26 yrs., I'm thinking those $$$$'s are never spent on the "mom" or her boobies. Sad, but true.....
