My question is why does this article sound so sympathetic?
They are UNDOCUMENTED, in other words they do NOT belong here!
Why should Arizona or any other state pay for the education of people who are not paying taxes or contributing anything to the country?
What really gets me is that these people are saying they don't understand why the people passed this?
What is not to understand? Maybe the people who live in Arizona, who raise their kids in Arizona, who work and pay TAXES were sick and tired of the state paying for the education of children who are here ILLEGALLY, and their own children had to pay for their educations in full!

Thank you Heaven, as I could not have said it any better myself!!! Illegal is Illegal no matter how you read it. Do it right and you then have every right that every American has, although, not sure how many rights we still have thanks to the current dictatorship, but if you are here illegally...YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good for Arizona!!!!

And by the way, it makes no difference where you are here from, as this is not a racial issue, but a legal one and that is what I base my stance on!!

One more thing....before anyone jumps on me about this...I am all for Immigration and people trying to better themselves, but I am not for doing things illegally, so if your argument is anything other than the legal issue, please don't bother because that is what this is about!!!

This article was not posted because I am for it.....it was merely here to be informative. Knowledge is information. Thanks for the comments. I am actually in agreement, and just thought it was good for you to see that. :)

I am with Charles and Heaven...LEGAL immigration brings a winderful diversity to what's left of our country...but I do NOT SUPPORT ANY AID FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. My own governor vetoed a bill that would have provided illegal immigrants access to state funded tuition and I am glad she did. We have so many needy AMERICANS whom we routinely ignore...they should be first in line for any an all benefits.

I just posted a comment, but it never showed up...guess it will be on here twice now......
Kactus, I was surely not directing my statements at you and I apologize if it sounded that way.
It is just an issue that really gets to me. Glad to hear we are in agreement!!
Thank you for the post.....information is knowledge, true!!

Actually, undocumented immigrants pay taxes also. Not only in their daily purchases and the obvious, but they also apply for TAX ID NUMBERS, because in this country, as you all know the IRS let's no one slip through their fingers. Most of them pay taxes years and file their forms of their own free will. Tax ID's allow people to purchase properties, invest in businesses and much more. I am amazed that people on CARE2 are not more educated about this. The ONLY people this country truly belongs to is the American Indian. Have you all forgotten what the country we love so much was founded on? The majority of the people who believe THEY belong here are MOSTLY ALL descendants of europeans. So this ignorance really has no excuse or foundation in reality. Political strategy and propaganda is perpetuating a new breed of RACISM, and anyone who supports it is simply being led by their own lack of information. Read up on the World Bank, and the policies and mandates they apply to foreign countries, which destroy their economies and leave people of these nations with no other choice but to come to a big, scary new place with nothing, leaving their families behind for years, and without speaking the language to struggle from the bottom up just to feed their families. Also, rent the movie THE CORPORATION. A little education goes a LONG way. I have been here since I was two years old. A United States CITIZEN now, but was BORN in Paraguay. Does that make me less american? A piece of paper does NOT mean you love your country less. I live this country and all it stands for. It is a shame when it's ownpeople FORGET what that was. United we stand, divided we fall. I am a PARAGUAYAN American. Please open your eyes. We should all be on the same side. If we are IN THIS COUNTRY TOGETHER, we should stand UNITED. Remember, at one point in time, SLAVERY was accepted. We are supposed to be going FORWARD people. Everyone here besides the native american is from somewhere else. If your timing would have been different...YOU might have been the illegal alien. God bless you all, and may he guide you.

I can't be sympathetic to the illegal issue, except when it comes to the children who were brought here illegally and ended up spending their young adult assimulating into US norms and societal structure. So for them, I would have to seriously examine the deportation issue. However, college tuition and other benefits would be "right out". Sorry. If you want to work hard and pay your own way through college, then that is what it is to be an American, welcome to the family. But I also realize that much of economy is based upon the cheap labor that comes with illegal workers. To not accept that this is a necessary evil, is short sighted. However, with the US spending a billion dollars a day in Iraq, it is not likely that we will have the economic means to develop sound immigration programs and the enforcement needed to make them work. I have a lot of friends that are smart professionals that would love to come work in the US, however they can't get the work visas. What a shame that we allow the uneducated, and criminals in (after all if you come in our country illegally, no matter how nice a person you are, you are still a criminal because you have broken our laws.) while turning away law abiding (those who follow our immigration laws) professionals who could potentially create new industries to keep us competative in the global market.

I would never have been the illegal immigrant, my grandparents came in through Ellis Island, the way they were supposed to... they didn't sneak into the country under a fence and expect anyone to pay for their children to go to college!!

America does not need nor want these people here for any reason as residents with no documentation of who they are or why they are here.
Why are they here anyway and for what purpose? Couldn't they trek to another country way south of Mexico, they blend in very well with features and habits. If the same situation took place in Europe or Asia on the same massive scale there would be a massacre to protect the country from the invaders. All this is very suspect from the leaders of the U.S. & Mexico. Something very strange is going on politically that will change this country and the kind of people who in a hundred years will not be like the people of the past hundred years. There is a temptation to think & say a civil war is looming on the horizon.

The changes on all fronts will be as dramatic as the bleeding hearts extending a hand to these culturally
and politically different people. Our government will be taking on a people who will far exceed anything ever seen in the welfare or crminal system before. The hospitals wil become bankrupt over a people who can not possible pay anything. What about the educational system? Will historical happenings be rewritten as fast as it happens to suit the new population? Out with the old and swiftly bring in the new which has no idea how to govern itself?
Will we be the New Mexico of Mexico?

I fear for my children of what will be after I'm gone.........................
