We're happy to report that MileMeter, a per-mile auto insurance company which NOW's Insurance Project has been mentoring/charging for insurance in this way is non-sexist, helps the environment, and helps enable lower-income people to retain their cars.

Wow you mean you guys have to pay more in Insurance just because of what sex you are over there...Australians don't have to do that...as long as we have a car or house/contents we get insurance here for the same price too.

I don't know that I like the idea of paying for every mile - we happen to take car trips/road trips every summer and gas is so expensive already -it would cost us a fortune-right now it still beats flying and we see more and don't have to put up w/crowds and rude people, but if this went thru we would have to pay for every mile we travelled? I don't think so...Noted

I certainly understand your comment, Jennie. I'm a "road-tripper" too. Ok, let's put our trip-tick together, and maybe we can carpool our vacations! :)

To Kathy and the above commentors:

Thank you very much for watching the MileMeter video and voting for MileMeter. I greatly appreciate it. We've worked hard to make MileMeter a possibility, and this Amazon contest is a great opportunity to accelerate the introduction of a fair, accurate, and affordable insurance product (with no vehicle tracking devices). The support and action alert from the National Organization for Women has been an unexpected blessing. Thank you, all, for your consideration and support.

Sincerely,
Chris (of the MileMeter video)

Noted; watched video; don't have a car right now since my lease expired. Car insurance and gasoline too expensive anyway, LOL! Thanks, Kathy, for bringing the story and to Jennie for raising a valid concern.

I know why males pay more for car insurance. Have you seen the way some of them drive? Why shouldn't males pay more for car insurence on average they make more money and drive more recklessliy. It's not sexist it's statisics! If the statistics change then they should change the policy.
